Panopto's Web Management Interface offer's instructors the ability to manage and edit the recordings captured and uploaded using the Panopto desktop recorder. Access the Web Management Interface at http://panopto.nvcc.edu. Select Blackboard from the Login Using dropdown menu. Enter your Blackboard username and password to login. The initial screen of the Web Management Interface is a listing of all the recordings that are available to the instructor. The listing view can be changed to show list or thumbnail view. Easily locate and view your videos, by selecting your folder from the left column under folders. When your recording is moused over, actions will show up for each recording. (There are no actions available for recordings that are not your own.) Share View and change who can view the recording. Stats Viewing statistical information for the recording. Settings View and/or change the name, folder, link and description for the recording. Edit Edit the recording using the Panopto editor. Delete Delete the recording.

SHARE Clicking on Share for a video opens the Share settings. Instructors can control who sees their recordings and who does not. By default, an instructor's folder(s) are restricted so that students in an associated course are able to view recordings (Viewer) and instructors can create, edit and view the recordings (Creator). 1. Permissions are inherited from the folder level. If an instructor unchecks Inherit folder permissions from an individual session, that session is now only viewable by the instructor. 2. If desired, recordings can be made public for everyone to view even those who do not have a NOVA Panopto account. STATISTICS (STATS) Statistical information for each recording is available to the video's creator. Clicking on the Stats icon opens up a window that displays Views by Day, Views by Video Time and a list of all users who have viewed the video and how long they viewed it. EDIT The Panopto Editor can edit any recording that an instructor creates. A recording can have portions removed, other recordings added to it, slides added, content added and captioning added. Editing does not remove the original footage but creates another version of the recording. Learn more about editing at: http://support.panopto.com/documentation/editing

SETTINGS The Settings icon allows you to view and/or edit the session information including Name of the recording, Folder where the recording is housed and Description of the recording's content. The menu items along the left take you directly to the session's sharing options as mentioned above. You can choose to download MP3 audio files and MP4 video files of the recording by selecting the Output option. Add PDF documents for viewers to download on the Streams tab. The Manage tab allows you to merge copy and delete the recording. SEARCH As more recordings are added, searching may be needed to find a specific video. The search available at the top of the page return results for the titles, table of contents, notes, captioning (where available) and any other text attached to each recording. Search results will return with links that allow a user to click and start a recording where that keyword(s) are in the recording.

FOLDER SETTINGS Instructors (Creators) can edit the overall settings for each of their folders. Right click on a folder name to reveal the following options: Info takes you to a screen where the folder name can be changed, the folder can be nested in another folder, a description can be added and a drop box can be created (for students to create their own content). Share on the folder level sets the default permissions level for all content in the folder. Folders can be made public and other individuals and/or groups can be given access to the folder's content. Settings are where an instructor comes to enable podcast feeds, allow viewers to make their notes public and allow users to download sessions in this folder. Copying and deleting a folder are additional options found under the Manage tab. UPLOADING VIDEOS Already have videos that you would like to share using Panopto? Select the Folder where you would like to upload the video to. Click Create and then select Upload Video. A pop-up window will open, drag the video into the indicated location, or click to select the video from your computer. Once it has finished processing, close the pop-up window. Panopto will send you an email when the video processing has completed.

TROUBLESHOOTING If you receive an error message beside your video you can attempt to resolve by reprocessing, repackaging and/or re-encoding the recording. To access the Processing Management tools select Settings below the video with the error. Select Manage on the left menu from the associated pop-up window and scroll down to Processing Management. Select one of the following to reprocess the video on the Panopto server. Reprocess Repackages events, images, thumbnails and captions, and re-encodes edits and stream changes. Updates and re-encodes everything. Repackage - Repackages events, images, thumbnails and captions. Does not re-encode viewer, tablet or podcast videos. Re-encode Re-encodes edits and stream changes. Updates viewer, tablet and podcast videos. Re-encode podcasts Re-encodes edits and stream changes. Only updates podcasts for this session.
