The Installation Process This section describes the IDE Connector Customizer installation process. To install IDE Connector Customizer: 1 Deploy the IDE Connector Customizer extension on ALM Platform. For more information on deploying the IDE Connector Customizer extension, see "Deploy the IDE Connector Customizer Extension" on page 2. 2 Enable the IDE Connector Customizer extension in ALM Site Administration for every project that requires customization. For more information, see "Enable the IDE Connector Customizer Extension" on page 3. Deploy the IDE Connector Customizer Extension 1 Download the IDE Connector Customizer extension file from the IDE Connector Customizer add-in page. 2 On the ALM Platform machine, run the HP ALM Extension Deployment Wizard, and select the ALM_DEV_EXTENSION.qcx extension file. For details on running the Extension Deployment Tool, refer to the HP ALM Extension Deployment Tool Readme. 2
Enable the IDE Connector Customizer Extension After deploying IDE Connector Customizer on ALM Platform, you must enable the IDE Connector Customizer extension for ALM projects. You should enable IDE Connector Customizer for each project that you want to customize for synchronization with IDE. You can enable the extension for either a new project or an existing one. Note: For details on working in Site Administration, refer to the HP Application Lifecycle Management Administrator Guide. Before enabling the Enterprise Integration extension, consider the following points: You cannot disable an extension for a project after you enable it. If the project is active, you must deactivate it before enabling an extension. After the extension has been enabled, you can reactivate the project. Enabling extensions for a project can take some time. To enable the IDE Connector Customizer extension for a project: 1 In Site Administration, click the Site Projects tab. 2 If relevant, create a new project in ALM in which to enable the extension. 3 In the Projects list, select a project. In the right pane, click the Project Extensions tab. The Extensions list is displayed, listing extensions installed on the ALM Platform. 3
4 For the Application Lifecycle Management Dev Extension extension, select the Enable checkbox. Click Yes to confirm. Note: After enabling the IDE Connector Customizer extension, for the new components to load, you must open the Application Lifecycle Management URL in your browser again. Customize ALM and IDE Field Mappings Use IDE Connector Customizer to define field mappings between IDE tasks and ALM entities. Note: For details on working in Project Customization, refer to the HP Application Lifecycle Management Administrator Guide. To customize ALM and IDE field mappings: 1 Log in as a project administrator to an ALM project for which IDE Connector Customizer is enabled. 2 On the ALM main toolbar, select Tools > Customize. The Project Customization window opens. 4
3 Click the IDE Connector Customizer link. The IDE Connector Customizer page opens. The IDE Connector Customizer page consists of a Requirements tab and a Defects tab. The settings in each tab affect tasks synchronized with ALM requirements and defects, respectively. 5
4 Define fields as described in the following table: Note: Wherever you are required to type an ALM field name, you must use the system field name, not the field label. For example, for the requirement Priority field, type RQ_REQ_PRIORITY. Field Status field Priority field Read-only fields Hidden requirement types Priority Value Mapping Description The ALM field that corresponds to the task status. Note: For requirements, a user-defined lookup list field must be added in ALM. For more details, see "Prerequisites for IDE Connector Customizer" on page 1. The ALM field that corresponds to the task priority. Map the priority values in the Priority Value Mapping section. ALM fields that cannot be edited by IDE users. Specify fields that should not be changed in the task. Examples: Name; Summary. Tip: To list multiple values, separate the values with semicolons (;). Requirement types that are not synchronized with the IDE. Specify requirement types that do not represent actual tasks. Examples: Folder; Group. Tip: To list multiple values, separate the values with semicolons (;). Available from: Requirements tab For each task priority value, type a corresponding ALM priority value, or keep the default values. Note: In Eclipse IDE, task priority levels are represented by icons. 6
Field Default QC/ALM Status value for new requirements/ defects Mark task as completed for following Status values Show RBQM Fields Description The initial status of new requirements or defects that are created in ALM when you submit new tasks in the IDE. The value must be one of the possible values from the Status field lookup list. Values of the Status field that cause the task to be marked in the IDE as completed. Tip: To list multiple values, separate the values with semicolons (;). Instructs the IDE to display Risk Based Quality Management fields in requirement tasks. Available from: Requirements tab 5 To reset any changes you made, click Restore Defaults. Default settings are restored to both tabs. 6 To save the settings, click Save. Undeploy the IDE Connector Customizer Extension This section describes how to undeploy the IDE Connector Customizer extension from ALM Platform. To uninstall the IDE Connector Customizer extension: On the ALM Platform machine, run the HP ALM Extension Undeployment Wizard, and select the extension to undeploy. For details on running the Extension Undeployment Wizard, refer to the HP ALM Extension Deployment Tool Readme. 7
Notes and Limitations This section includes notes and limitations to consider when working with IDE Connector Customizer. Cross Project Customization is not supported for the IDE Connector Customizer page. Copying a project does not copy the IDE customization. Localization of the user interface is not supported.
