Make sure that there is adequate space around the heat sink (on the back of the VL BPC MINI) and air inlets and outlets to provide sufficient cooling.. DIN rail mounting To install on DIN rail:. Angle the VL BPC MINI so the top edge of the mounting plate hangs on the top edge of the DIN rail.. Rotate the bottom of the VL BPC MINI down against the lower edge of the DIN rail. Press in until the latch snaps closed.. Secure with clamps. Figure Dimensions mm (.0 in) A Installation The VL BPC MINI can be mounted on an NS DIN rail or attached to a flat mounting surface such as a wall (mounting method must be selected when ordered). Be sure sufficient clearance exists for routing cables to the connectors or accessing any optional cards. When installing the VL BPC MINI in a cabinet, follow these general rules: Verify clearances within the cabinet. Typically, leave at least cm ( in.) on each side with.7 cm ( in.) on the connector side if the VL BPC MINI has any optional card slots. Drill all holes and make all cuts before beginning installation. Be sure to protect already installed components from shavings. Supporting panels must be at least gauge to provide proper support. 7 8 9 0 VL BPC MINI To remove from DIN rail:. Remove rail clamps and cables, as necessary.. Use a screwdriver to release the latch.. Rotate the bottom of the VL BPC MINI away from the rail and then lift it off the rail.. Wall mounting. Mark mounting holes in the mounting surface (wall) as indicated in Figure. Alternatively, hold the VL BPC MINI in position and mark the holes on the wall.. Drill holes in the wall as required. Mounting hardware (not included) will depend on the type of mounting surface.. Secure the VL BPC MINI to the wall using appropriate hardware. 7 Interfaces After mounting the VL BPC MINI, make any necessary cable connections. Connections are always at the bottom of a mounted VL BPC MINI. The available connectors will vary depending on the configuration selected. For instance, not all VL BPC MINI will be equipped with an SD slot. Connectors and controls are located on the bottom and one side of the VL BPC MINI. The connections available are: Ethernet: Two RJ connectors are located on the rear of the VL BPC MINI. These allow the computer to communicate on a 0/00/000 Base-T Ethernet network. Serial: Serial devices connect to the DB-9 connector. This connector can be configured to communicate on the RS-, RS- or RS-8 physical layer (see Input/output configuration on page 8 for jumper settings). USB: USB devices connect using Type A connectors. The VL BPC MINI has six USB ports. VGA: This port connects the VL BPC MINI to an external analog display with a corresponding VGA connector.. Remove the four screws securing the access plate and remove the plate. External Display External analog displays can be connected to the VGA port of the VL BPC MINI (see Figure ). An Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) display will download its capabilities to the display driver while non-edid displays will not. In either case, additional settings can be applied through the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. 7. Service panel NOTE: Electrostatic Discharge! The device contains components that can be damaged or destroyed by electrostatic discharge. When handling the device, observe the necessary safety precautions against electrostatic discharge (ESD), in accordance with EN 0-- and EN 0--. Jumpers on the circuit board provide the ability to configure the VL BPC MINI for specific applications. To access the jumpers:. Turn off the VL BPC MINI and disconnect the power supply.. Remove the VL BPC MINI to an ESD safe location. Figure Service panel removal 90_en_A PHOENIX CONTACT
