Logitech Keyboards and Desktops Refining the PC media experience 2005 Logitech. All rights reserved. Logitech, the Logitech logo, and other Logitech marks are owned by Logitech and may be registered. All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

One of the most dramatic changes in the use of mainstream PCs over the past decade centers on audio and video capabilities. Even the most basic computers today offer enough power and features to qualify them as full-fledged media centers. The market has readily adopted this shift. Logitech has discovered through intensive market research that close to 75 percent of their customers listen to music on their PCs, 30 percent own a portable MP3 player and up to 80 percent own a digital camera. This illustrates that for even the average user, the PC has become a mini photo lab, desktop stereo system, and portal to an infinite store of streaming audio and video content on the Internet. It has also become a hub for storing, creating, and sharing personal media with friends and family. Logitech s goal is to increase each person s ability to get the most out of these media possibilities. Essentially, this means making important media functions more physically accessible on the desktop just as they are on many other consumer electronics components rather than keeping them tucked away in software programs or menus that require searching and multiple mouse clicks to access. Logitech s new generation of keyboards and desktops fulfills this mission masterfully. Elegant simplicity The most basic and frequently used media controls regulate music playback. The challenge today is to provide non-expert users with more than rudimentary controls without creating complexity. The new Logitech Cordless Desktop EX 110 offers essentials such as volume control and the ability to mute sound with a single touch, as well as familiar commands such as Play, Forward, Backward through tracks, or Pause. These controls are so cleanly and smoothly integrated that using them seems second nature. The Logitech Media Keyboard Elite and Logitech Cordless Desktop LX 300 raise this bar a notch. Designed for those who are more engaged with their music and video, the Cordless Desktop LX 300 features a more prominent central location for the media controls. Not only can all playback functions be instantly managed from this console, but a favorite media player can be quickly launched as well. The Logitech Media Keyboard Elite also introduces image zoom. Many people today are storing favorite digital photos and albums on their PCs. Image zoom is a simple, instantaneous way to enlarge or reduce the size of pictures, or even snap back to original size, with a single keyboard touch. It simply makes photo viewing a lot more personalized and fun. 1

Style for the flat screen environment Contemporary PCs have rapidly evolved to enable better image and video experiences, and as part of this trend, flat screens are becoming more prevalent. The Logitech Cordless Desktop S 510 matches today s flat screen monitors. The Cordless Desktop S 510 incorporates both music/video and image zoom controls, smartly located at the right and left edges of the keyboard. These controls are not only well integrated into the ultra-clean styling of the keyboard, but give media lovers extras they value. From the right side, you can quickly launch a favorite media player, and easily control all playback functions for favorite playlists or movies. Moreover, if the mood strikes, you can instantly randomize the order of your music playlists with the Shuffle button. Left side controls enable zooming in and out of images, but also, importantly, one-touch rotation of the images you may wish to view at different angles without turning your head. The Cordless Desktop S 510 makes enjoyment of the desktop media experience more fluid and powerfulwhile keeping it incredibly simple. 2

Connoisseur capabilities If the Cordless Desktop S 510 opens the door to a more streamlined and individualized desktop media experience, the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3000 Laser enables even greater personal engagement. To begin with, the Cordless Desktop MX 3000 Laser revolves around the smooth integration of hardware and Logitech MediaLife software. MediaLife gathers and organizes all your stored audio, video, and image files in one large-scale, highly readable, and attractive desktop interface. Naturally, it can be launched from the keyboard with a single button. Once the interface is open, you can easily browse and select desired files, navigating with either the mouse, or controls on the left side of the keyboard. Of course, you still have one-touch keyboard access to the traditional Windows digital media files, including My Pictures and My Music folders. In this way, personal preference is maximized. Enhancing this personalization further, the Cordless Desktop MX 3000 Laser includes amenities like three preset buttons for either favorite streaming radio stations or favorite playlists. It also features a precision volume dial, and even the ability to rip or burn a CD with a single touch. And don t forget the image zoom capability on the left side of the keyboard. For all these reasons, the Cordless Desktop MX 3000 Laser is a great fit for who consider themselves media savvy. Not to be outdone, the extraordinary Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser is the first desktop to visibly communicate key information back to the user, rather than simply responding to commands. Boasting a unique LCD window at the head of the keyboard, the Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser keeps you visually informed about a variety of content, including incoming messages, status of current song playback, current playlists, and much more. Meanwhile, the touchsensitive media controls on the MX 5000 Laser keyboard also break completely new ground. Instead of requiring consecutive presses of a button to adjust volume or zoom in and out of images, the new controls allow a continuous soft pressure to create smoother volume changes, or image size changes onscreen. Play, Pause, Next and Previous track buttons, and other favorite functions are situated within the same space, making total media command both highly precise, and completely effortless. Finally, the Bluetooth capabilities of the Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser make it easy to transfer images and data from PDAs or cell phones, to be viewed in larger scale or shared with others easily via the Internet. In short, the Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser is the first smart desktop media control center. It organizes, facilitates, even communicates a wide range of sophisticated choices for the media aficionado. 3

Show time Can we go further? The story we ve told so far implies a single user, seated in classic fashion at a desk, and probably enjoying entertainment choices while engaged in other tasks. But there is a second possible usage model: Today s PC has the inherent ability to become a kind of communal media hub. A focal point at social gatherings with family or friends for sharing video clips, travel photo albums, movies of the kids, and other important content. Imagine a larger flat-screen monitor, and four people gathered and standing near a desk or table waiting to view a digital photo album of a school production of Peter Pan. With the Logitech Cordless Desktop S 510 Media Remote, you could easily stand among your friends while orchestrating a customized viewing. A unique remote commander one far simpler and intuitive than other contemporary remotes lets you launch MediaLife, or another favorite player, with a well-marked central button. As you scroll through choices onscreen, you delight in the unique central roller control that lets you smoothly accelerate or slow down your scrolling to instantly get where you want to go. Terrific pictures. If there s an image with background details your guests want to see better, conveniently press Zoom to move in. Now pan right/left or up/down easily with the central four-way roller to bring those details into better view. Want to rotate an image? With one touch, you ve done it on the fly. Best of all, your eyes can stay on the screen, or engaged with your friends as you review the show, because your fingers can easily sense where the appropriate controls are. Naturally, this remote also lets you control volume, or skip tracks forward or back. With a single touch, you can go to full screen, or even close your window when you re done. If you love music, you ll take advantage of three radio preset buttons for streaming audio. These controls are easily set by simply pressing and holding just as you do with your digital car radio. And individual buttons on the remote are programmable, so your choices can be as personalized and customized as you wish. Again, Logitech keeps it clean and simple, including just the right number of essential buttons. Yet you still enjoy incredible choice and flexibility. All in all, it s a terrifically entertaining and enjoyable way to get the most out of the virtual theater capability of your contemporary PC. In a similar vein, the ultra-polished Logitech dinovo TM Media Desktop TM Laser includes a wireless MediaPad TM that facilitates standing away from the PC and screen to conduct a desktop media show, or to adjust music volume if you are sitting at a distance from your desk. 4

It s a wrap From simple volume control, to remote command of sights and sounds around the modern digital campfire, Logitech has one aim: to make everyone s media experiences better.
