1 1 Quick Configuration Guide Introduction Meridian Initial Startup Wizard This Help Guide takes you through the Initial Setup Wizard. This guide complements the Meridian Quick Installation Guide.

Initial Setup Wizard - Welcome Screen 2 2 Initial Setup Wizard - Welcome Screen The first time the Meridian NVR is powered up, the user enters the default user name and password. Username: administrator Password: dvtel Once the password has been entered, the system runs the Initial Setup Wizard. The user completes the Wizard, after which the system opens the Meridian Admin Center and the system setup can be continued. Note: All steps in the Initial Setup Wizard are mandatory. The Meridian Admin Center will launch only after completing the Wizard steps. Wizard Welcome Screen On the Welcome screen, click Next.

3 3 Quick Configuration Guide Time Setup Set the system date and time. Parameter Notes Date, Time Set the date and time according to current time now in your region. Network Setup 4 4 Network Setup The Network Setup screen is displayed. Do you want the Meridian Server to automatically set up IP addresses for the cameras on the network (act as DHCP server)? YES/NO. The Meridian Server is already set up with a default IP address. If you want to change it, enter the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway. IMPORTANT NOTE: If the Meridian Server is being connected to the Corporate network where a DHCP server is used, this parameter MUST be set to NO.

5 5 Quick Configuration Guide Video Standards Setup Select the video standard used in your region: PAL or NTSC. When finished, click Next.

Recording Mode Setup 6 6 Recording Mode Setup Choose the recording mode that cameras attached to the system will follow. 1. Always means cameras will record 24/7. 2. Motion Detection means that cameras will start recording whenever motion is detected at the camera level. The default motion recording settings are 30 seconds pre- and post-motion. This can be changed later on through the Meridian Admin Center. Note: After launching the Meridian Admin Center, it is recommended that the user checks that the motion zone and motion settings (Sensitivity and Threshold), which the system set automatically, are suitable. When finished, click Next.

7 7 Quick Configuration Guide Exit the Initial Setup Wizard Setup complete After completing the Recording Mode Setup, the Initial Setup Wizard shows the Setup Complete screen. Setup Complete Up to this point, all the parameters that have been chosen are stored but not yet applied to the system. The user can still review all the settings by using the Back button, and can change any of the settings if required. Once all settings have been reviewed, press the Finish button. 9 8 Quick Configuration Guide Admin Center The Meridian Admin Center allows the user to configure all aspects of the system camera settings, recording schedule, user management, etc. To launch the Meridian Admin Center (if not already launched from the wizard), click on the application shortcut icon on the Desktop. 8.1 Login Screen Parameter Notes User name admin is the user name for the default System Administrator user Password For first-time use, no password is defined. If desired, you can set a password from the Users page Server IP / Hostname Enter the Server IP address as set in the Initial Setup Wizard. If you did not change the IP address, the default is 192.168.50.10 or enter localhost. When the user s credentials have been accepted, the Meridian Admin Center opens and displays the Home screen.

Admin Center 8.2 10 Home Screen The Home Screen is always displayed when the Meridian Admin Center starts up. The user can navigate from the Home screen to any desired page and then return to it by clicking the Home button on the sidebar. The current version number is displayed in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. A link allows the user to check whether a newer version of the application is available. After the first launch, a dialog is displayed with the current system information. This shows the user that system storage has been configured, and all cameras have been discovered and attached to the system. To conclude the setup, we recommend you to carry out the following steps:

11 Quick Configuration Guide 1. Name the cameras, changing their default names to names which suit your site. 2. Add users if needed and assign them to one of the default user groups or alternatively create a custom user group if the default ones don t suit your needs. While not necessary, you can continue setting up advanced settings of the system. You can simply follow the steps listed under the Advanced Settings or access more options by using the Sidebar and accessing the relevant pages. We recommend that you print out the Sign-Off report for the customer to sign before leaving site. This report details how the system has been configured. 8.3 Admin Center Screen Layout The Meridian Admin Center layout is divided roughly into 3 sections, the Sidebar, the Item list and the Settings page. Please refer to the below table for more detailed information Field Description 1. SideBar Home, System, Cameras, Users, Rules and Alarms - The Admin Center pages are grouped into categories. Clicking any of these in the sidebar will place a list of items associated with that category into the item list. 2. Item List For any selected category in the Sidebar, the available items are listed. The required item can be selected and its name is then highlighted.

Admin Center Field 12 Description 3. Settings Page The layout of the settings page varies according to the selection made in the item list. 4. Help Button The system has an extensive context-sensitive Help function. In any screen, clicking the Help button opens a page of information about that screen, with specific information such as explanations about icons used, how to add, edit or delete entries, default values, cautions and notes where required Even after the initial configuration, you can easily fine tune and change the default settings. As noted, extensive Help system is embedded within the application. Additionally, you can always access the DVTEL website to download and watch the various tutorials explaining about the Meridian product.
