Signing onto Family Access Skyward Family Access Instruction Manual 1. Parents must notify the school of their personal email address to gain access to Family Access. a. Methods to notify the school of your email address: i. Registration ii. Come into the Main Office and provide information. iii. Write down email on a piece of paper, sign paper, and give it to your child to give to the Main Office. b. Can more than one parent have a Family Access account? i. Yes. All parents listed under Family 1 when you register can have a Family Access account, even if the members listed in Family 1 live separately. 2. Once the school has the parent s email address, they will receive an email within 24 hours giving them directions to their password and login information. Follow the steps in the email to access Family Access. As a reference, the webpage to Login to Family Access is: http://skyward.cusd15.org 3. If you lose your password: Click Forgot your Login/Password. You will be prompted to type in your email. Follow directions to receive an email to reset your password. 4. Once logged in your screen will look like this: Select Widgets Student Schedule Food Service Purchases 5. This screen is your Skyport (Reference the above picture). The image above has the student s current schedule, and student s recent Food Service Purchases. Skyport is a quick way to show you many items on one page. a. Your Skyport can be changed by choosing Select Widgets.
b. If you click on Select Widget you will see a screen that looks like this: Select which items to be displayed on your Skyport. c. Click Save after you selected which items to be displayed on your Skyport. 6. Using Family Access: From your Skyport page, click in the top right corner of the screen where it says Family Access. Click Family Access 7. Once Family Access is clicked, your screen will look like the below picture. If you have more than one student, you can toggle back and forth between children with same login and password. Switch from child to child if you have more than one in district. Just click dropdown arrow. List of information to choose. a. From this screen, the following information is provided: i. Ethnicity/Race, your student s Calendar, Student Information, Grade book, Message Center, Attendance, Schedule, Discipline, Test Scores, Food Service, Fee Management, Activities, Report Cards, Academic History, Email Notifications, Health Information, Login History, Current On-Line Assignments, and Past Assignments. 8. Ethnicity/Race: a. Displays the option to change how your student s ethnicity and Race is listed.
9. Calendar: a. Parents can see upcoming and past assignments/tests/projects. Also shows No School Days. Displays what grade was earned for the assignment. The grade will be posted next to the assignment. At the bottom of the screen, you can change what is displayed on the calendar (Attendance, lunch menu, etc ) Upcoming and past assignments/tests/projects. Grade is next to assignment. Change what is displayed on the calendar. 10. Student Information: a. Displays all the contact information the school has for your child (Current address, phone numbers, email information, emergency contact information). b. If you click at the top, you can also see the Bus Schedule. c. If you need to update this information, in the top right corner click Request Changes to my Child s Information. From here, you can make changes, and save the changes. This will automatically update the records the school has for your child. d. Looks like this (Info is blacked out) Click for bus schedule Click here to update your child s information. 11. Skylert: a. System that automatically calls or emails you to notify you of events going on at school. You can edit this information if your number or emails changes, or if you want to add a number or email to the system. Click Edit to update your contact information, or edit what information you want notified. (Attendance, food service, etc.)
12. Grade book: a. Displays current grades. All your child s teachers are listed. Click on any of the teacher s names if you want to email them. b. Click on the grade to display all the assignments/grades. c. Click Missing Assignments to display any assignments missing. d. Click Teacher Log or Comments to display any notes the teacher typed on your child. e. Looks like this: Click to view: * Progress Reports * Missing Assignments * Teacher Comments Click to email teacher. Click to view detailed grades. 13. Message Center a. Displays messages the administration or a teacher has posted normally pertaining to the entire student body, or the entire class. Teachers, counselors, and administrators will post to Message Center. Forms and/or handouts can also be attached using Message Center. b. Look like this: Posted By Message Attached form 14. Attendance: a. Displays the student s history (Tardies and Excused and Unexcused absences). b. If a number on the calendar is bold, this signifies one of the above took place. Click on the number for details. c. Looks like this: Color coded attendance information. Absence codes.
15. Schedule: a. Displays current schedule. 16. Discipline: a. Displays if the student has any discipline referrals. By clicking on the word Details will provide you with specific information pertaining to the offense. 17. Test Scores: a. No information yet, but in the near future MAP data and possible other test data will be available. 18. Food Service: a. Displays account information, payment history, and purchase history. b. Purchase history is displayed. i. Note: Daily food limits can be placed per building. You will need to contact the school so the Kitchen Staff can be informed of your preferences. ii. In the future, you will be able to make payments on-line. c. Looks like this: Toggle between account info, payment history, and food purchases. 19. Fee Management: a. Displays all fees made.
20. Activities: a. Displays all activities student is involved in, and the Activity Advisor. You can click on the advisor s name to email. 21. Report Cards: a. Displays this year s report cards. (No information will be displayed until after 1 st Quarter) 22. Academic History: a. Displays data on your students academic history. 23. Email Notification: a. Displays choices to receive notifications regarding attendance, food service, grading, and progress reports. b. You can set parameters on grades (high and low) to be notified. i. Example: You can be notified if your child drops below a B average in any class. ii. You can specify how often (monthly, weekly, or daily) to receive these notifications. c. Looks like this: Click to change settings. 24. Health Information: a. Displays a record of all vaccinations the school has on file for your child. 25. Login History: a. Displays your login history to Family Access. 26. Current Assignments: a. Displays any current on-line assignments any teacher has assigned for your child. 27. Past Assignments: a. Displays any past on-line assignments.
