6 ODIS v4.0.0 Installation Guide All previous versions of ODIS MUST be uninstalled before v4.0.0 is installed. The Windows components tool detailed in this guide MUST be run. All Windows updates must be turned off on your tester.

1. Uninstalling ODIS PLEASE SAVE YOUR ODIS LICENSE ON YOUR DESKTOP 1. Click on the Start button in the bottom left corner of the tester. Select All Programs > Offboard Diagnostic Information System Service > Offboard Diagnostic Information System Service Uninstallation program. 2. The wizard will appear. Click Next. 3. When prompted tick all boxes except Delete licences to remove files from previous versions of ODIS, then click Next. 4. Click on Finish. 5. Please select No when asked if you want to restart your tester. 6. We are now going to remove ODIS files that the uninstall program has left behind. Page 3 of 20

7. From your desktop please go to Start > Computer 8. Then double click on Local Disk (C) 9. Right click on ODIS-DIAG-MODULES, and select Delete 10. Click on Yes to confirm deletion of this folder 11. Then double click on Program Files (x86) 12. Right click on Offboard_Diagnostic_Information_System_Service and select Delete 13. Click on Yes to confirm deletion of this folder. 14. Restart your tester. Page 4 of 20

2. Running the Windows tool Go to http://mirrorserver/dav/odis/trade-retail/software/installation/ Right click on ODIS_3.1.0_CHECK_V1.0.2_EN.exe and select Save Target as onto your desktop. Go to the ODIS icon on your desktop and right click. Select Run as Administrator. The Windows components tool will box will pop up and run. This may take several minutes. Once the update has been installed, the following yellow message will appear. Click OK, press any key and then restart your tester. When your tester has restarted double click on the ODIS_3.1.0_CHECK_V1.0.2_EN icon and select Run Page 5 of 20

You will first see this black screen which will then become green with the following confirmation. Press any key to continue. You MUST restart your tester for the update to be installed. Page 6 of 20

3. Downloading the ODIS installation file 1. Open Internet Explorer on your VAS diagnostic tester desktop. 2. Type the following URL into the address bar (Note: The address is case sensitive):- http://mirrorserver/dav/odis/trade- Retail/software/installation/ 3. Right click on latest OffboardDiagSetup- Service executable file and then select Save target as and save the file to your desktop. 4. The ODIS executable file will now appear on your desktop. 4. Installing and Configuring ODIS 1. Right Click on the ODIS icon on your desktop and select Run as Administrator 2. The ODIS Service installation will begin. 3. Select the installation language English (GB) and click OK 4. The ODIS setup wizard screen will now appear. Select Continue to proceed. 5. Select Continue to confirm target folder. 6. Select Continue to confirm target directory. 7. Select the model diagnostic tester you have from the drop down menu, and click Continue 8. If you have a VAS6150D select additional VAS6150 derivative If you have a VAS6160B select additional VAS6160 derivative Page 8 of 20

9. Select the model tester and model diagnostic head you have from the drop down menu and click Next. 10. You will now be informed that you will need to pair your diagnostic head after ODIS installation. Click Next. If you select VAS 6154 there is an additional window where a Host name can be entered. This will be VAS6154 followed by the serial number (seven digits after SN on the white label above the bar code, on the back of the VCI unit (not the Wi-Fi adapter). Example: VAS6154-520. Once the Host name has been entered, select Next. Alternatively, you can select Cancel and pair the device once ODIS has been installed. 11. You now need to install the ODIS licence. If it is not currently saved on your desktop in a folder you have created called ODIS Licence, please do that now. 12. Click Search to locate the destination of your ODIS Licence file. Page 9 of 20

13. Select Desktop on the left hand side menu. 14. Double Click to open the ODIS Licence folder. 15. Select licence.dat file and click Open. 16. The certificate field will now be populated with the licence location, click Continue. 17. Click Continue. 18. The ODIS installation screen will now appear. This process takes approximately 5 minutes 19. If the following message appears, check the box Always trust software from Softing AG and click Install. 20. Select Finish. Page 10 of 20

21. Please click yes, your tester will restart. 22. The ODIS setup files have now been installed. Right click this icon on your desktop and select Run as administrator 23. You will then see the Postsetup box. 24. Ensure that the URL in the PostSetup screen is: http://mirrorserver/dav and click on the blue arrow to check for updates. 25. Ensure that all 3 languages are ticked and then select the blue arrow. 26. Click the blue arrow to install the ODIS update. 27. The ODIS postsetup will now begin. This can take up to 30 minutes to complete. 28. The warning notes will now appear. Scroll down to the bottom on the right hand side and click OK. Page 11 of 20

29. ODIS installation is now complete. ODIS must be configured before use. Please select Admin from the right hand menu. 30. Go to the General tab > Brand design > Select your brand > Save 31. Please note: When saving any settings in the ODIS application the following pop up will appear. Click Yes to confirm each change. 32. General > Language: Check your Language is English GB. 33. General > GFF Sequence: Check Always display test steps > Save. 34. General > Keyboard Settings: Only check if you have a VAS 6160 > Save. 35. General > Dealer Data: Please ensure this is left blank. 36. Go to the Support > Contact Data: Fill in your details > Save. Page 12 of 20

37. Support > Outgoing mail Server: Type odismail.gb.btac in the mail server field. Type your email address in the Email delivery address field > Save. 38. Connections > Brand Settings: If you are a single brand, ensure your brand is selected > Save. (For multiple brands, please ensure all required brands are shown in the list, by selecting, then saving one at a time). 39. Go to Connections tab > Group System Elsa Pro > Brand (1 character) If you are installing ODIS for Audi, VWPC or VWCV enter 0. If you are installing Seat enter S, or C for Skoda. 40. Country > GBR Dealer ID > Dealer number in 5 digit format (Seat only replace 47 with GB eg: 476ZZ will be GB6ZZ) 41. All necessary settings are now complete within ODIS. 42. If installing multiple brands, steps 38 to 40 need to be repeated for each one of the brands installed. Page 13 of 20

43. Go to Connections tab > Mirror server 2: Ensure the Mirror server 2 URL is http://mirrorserver/dav > Save. The user ID and password fields must be blank. Timeout should be set to 120. 44. ODIS is now set up. Page 14 of 20

5. ODIS support mail test It is important to ensure you can send support request emails from your tester before you start using ODIS. 1. From the Help menu within ODIS, select Support. 2. Enter Test into the subject field and select Send. 3. The ODIS support mail will now begin to send. 4. If successful the following confirmation will appear. Select OK to return to ODIS. 6. Online system test 1. From the Extras menu in ODIS, select Connection test. 2. Highlight Brand and click Select. 3. Click Select all and then select Start. 4. Enter your Geko Username and Password and select Adopt. 5. During the test you will be required to reenter your Geko Username and Password and select Adopt. 6. If successful the following screen will appear. Select Close to exit test. (Note: eshop_url will always appear with a red cross). Page 16 of 20

7. VAS 5054A Bluetooth radio head installation (Only compatible with Windows 7) Please see separate guide for installing VAS6154. 1. Shutdown ODIS and ensure the VAS 5054A Bluetooth radio head is connected to a vehicle with the ignition on, then click on the Windows Logo and select All Programs. 2. Open Softing D-PDU API for VCIs V1.20.015 folder and select EDIC Configuration Manager. 3. Select Add a new device or a connection for a device. 4. An Attention pop up window will appear, select OK to proceed. 5. The software will now scan for available Bluetooth devices. 6. Highlight the VAS 5054 device found and select Next. Page 17 of 20

7. Enter the Serial Number in the Passkey field and select Next. 8. The following message will appear in the taskbar to indicate the device has installed successfully. 9. Once successfully paired the VAS 5054A device will appear within the Configuration Manager window. Select Close to exit window. 10. Open ODIS and select Diagnosis. 11. If successfully paired the details of the vehicle the device is connected to will now appear. Page 18 of 20

8. Recovering your Windows 7 tester. To take your tester back to as new please follow these instructions. PLEASE NOTE. Always do a backup before starting the system recovery process. All data on drive C:\ will be deleted. The partition "D:\" on the storage medium will be unaffected by the recovery process. This means that data stored on this partition will be retained. During the recovery process, everything installed and all of the settings made for the unit will be lost. Before starting the recovery process, connect the diagnostic tester to the mains via its power supply unit. During the recovery process and the following first start up, the VAS 6150A, VAS 6150B and VAS 6150C diagnostic systems must not be connected to the docking station (port replicator). Before doing any part of the recovery process, read all of these instructions and then follow them exactly. 1. To start the system BIOS (setup), you will first have to shut down the diagnostic system and restart it. As soon as you can see the Panasonic logo on the screen, please press the "F2" button or the button with the key symbol on the VAS 6160. 2. Enter the BIOS password and confirm with the "Enter" key. With the "down" cursor key select repair your computer, then hit enter on your keyboard. 7. The recovery of the system will now start. Depending on the unit, the recovery process may take up to 55 minutes. Once recovery is complete, the system will automatically restart. 8. You will need to connect your tester to the internet, set the date, time & language. In order to connect your tester to your BTAC (Mirrorserver 2) to download ODIS, please call the Service Desk on 08000 468 178. Page 19 of 20
