2 2 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Introduction This document serves as an appendix to the Installing and Commissioning Metasys Web Access Technical Bulletin (LIT ) and details what you need to do to load the Windows 2000 Server Operating System (OS) software and the Metasys Web Access (MWA) software onto the MWA server computer. This document describes how to: complete installation requirement checklists install Windows 2000 Server OS install Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.0 install Metasys Person-Machine Interface (PMI) software on the Same Computer as MWA install MWA software activate Terminal Services licensing Note: This document does not address the Information Technologies (IT) issues that may affect the installation of MWA at your facility. IMPORTANT: The procedures in this document demonstrate one instance of installing Microsoft Windows 2000 Server OS, PMI software, and MWA software. The steps are designed to provide an example of what you may encounter. Your installation may be different depending on several factors, including, but not limited to, the age and the brand of your computer. IMPORTANT: The procedure describing how to install Microsoft 2000 Server OS is based on the Microsoft installation wizard and may change without notice.
3 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin 3 Detailed Procedures Completing Installation Requirement Checklists Complete the checklists in Table 1 and Table 2 before you begin installing any software. Table 1: Software Checklist Item Software Have 1* Windows 2000 Server OS (Keep CD and paperwork for licensing wizard.) 2 Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.0 (should be on the Windows 2000 Professional Software CD that shipped with the computer, but also available on Microsoft Web site at 3 Windows 2000 Terminal Server additional licenses (TS CALs) if required (single sheet of paper with license code Keep for licensing wizard). 4 Disk with Drivers for your brand of computer. You may need to reload certain hardware drivers. The drivers you need may be different depending on the type of computer you are using. 5* Metasys MWA software 6 Metasys PMI software (if required) * The number of Client Access Licenses (CALs) (5 or 10) for the Windows 2000 Server OS must match the number of concurrent users supported by the MWA product that was ordered. Table 2: Customer IT Checklist Step Task Completed 7 Determine customer s IT contact/resource. 8 Review MWA IT security ramifications with IT. Refer to the Internet Access to MWA section of the Installing and Commissioning Metasys Web Access Technical Bulletin (LIT ). 9 Request MWA server static Internet Protocol (IP) address. 10 Request MWA server subnet mask. 11 Request MWA server default gateway. 12 Determine domain or workgroup name where you are installing the MWA server. Installing Windows 2000 Server OS Note: The purpose of this document is to guide you through setting up the Windows 2000 Server software if a reload is necessary, because the computer was shipped with the incorrect operating system or if you have encountered problems in getting the MWA server to function properly. For someone who does not have experience with loading operating systems, it may be best to consult with your local Information Technology (IT) department for assistance with these loading procedures.
4 4 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin To install Windows 2000 Server OS: 1. Insert the Windows 2000 Server installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. 2. Restart the computer with the Operating System CD inserted and eventually a blue screen appears titled Welcome to Setup. 3. Press Enter to start the setup of the Windows 2000 server. 4. Press F8, I agree to the Windows 2000 licensing agreement. A blue screen appears with the following options: To repair the selected Windows 2000 installation etc. Press R To continue installing a fresh copy of Windows 2000 Server without repairing press ESC. Press L to delete the partition and start from scratch Note: To have a clean installation, it may be best to select L and start from scratch. After selecting an option from above, a blue screen appears with a list that shows the existing partitions and non-partitioned space on the hard disk. 5. Select one partition for the computer s hard disk. 6. Select NTFS for the file system. 7. Click next to install devices (this process takes some time and depends on the size of the hard disk). 8. Set the Regional Settings and click Next. 9. On the Personalize Your Software screen, enter a Name and Organization. Note: For example, use MWA for the name and the customer s name for the organization. Verify this with the customer. 10. On the Your Product Key screen, enter the product key from the Windows 2000 Server CD case. 11. On the Licensing Modes screen, select Per Server and enter the number of concurrent connections (5 or 10). This selection should match the MWA software configuration for concurrent users ordered. Click Next.
5 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin 5 Note: The number of concurrent connections is the number of Standard Client Access Licenses (CALs) that were ordered. Remember this number for later when licensing Terminal Services with the Microsoft Corporation. For more information, refer to Microsoft Windows License Requirements in the Installing and Commissioning Metasys Web Access Technical Bulletin (LIT ). 12. On the Computer Name and Administrator Password screen, enter the Computer Name, Administrator Password, and confirm the password. Verify your selections with the customer s IT department. The computer name becomes the domain name of this computer (for example, mwaserver). 13. On the Install Windows 2000 Components screen, set the options according to Table 3 and Table 4. Table 3: Select the Following Windows 2000 Components Select IIS (Internet Information Server) Networking Services (Under the details tab for this selection you only need TCP/IP services selected) Terminal Services Terminal Service Licensing Table 4: Do Not Select the Following Windows 2000 Components Make sure that the following options are not selected Certificate Services Cluster Services (may not be present) Advanced Server feature 14. On the Date and Time Settings screen, select the appropriate settings for your time zone (for example, select (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) for Milwaukee, WI) and click Next. 15. On the Terminal Services Setup screen, select Application Server Mode and click Next. 16. Select Permissions compatible with Terminal Server 4.0 Users and click Next. 17. On the Networking Settings screen, select Typical Settings and click Next.
6 6 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin 18. On the Workgroup or Computer Domain screen, select No, this computer is not on a network domain. Verify with the customer s IT department these settings are correct. Click Next. The computer reboots. The Windows 2000 Configure Your Server dialog box appears after the reboot. IMPORTANT: controller. The MWA Server computer cannot be used as a domain 19. Select Configure My Server Later and click Next. 20. Close the Configure My Server dialog box. The Windows 2000 Server OS installation is complete at this time. Proceed to the next sections in this document for further instructions on loading drivers, service packs, installing PMI software, installing MWA software, and activating Terminal Services Licensing. Installing Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.0 Installation of Service Pack 2.0 may not be necessary because the Windows 2000 Server OS installation did this for you. To verify which service pack was installed, perform the following steps: Go to the main desktop screen. Right-click on My computer and select properties. Select the General tab and verify the service pack information. If it is necessary to install Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.0, do the following: IMPORTANT: Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 has not been qualified with MWA. We do not recommend installing Windows Service Pack Insert the Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.0 CD or navigate to sp2/default.asp 2. Follow the instructions to install the service pack. 3. Once the service pack is installed, verify if any device drivers need to be installed. Loading Device Drivers 4. Click the Start menu and select Settings > Control Panel. On the Control Panel, double-click System. The System Properties dialog box appears. 5. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager. 6. Use the Device Manager to verify that all device drivers are installed.
7 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin 7 Note: Devices without drivers are preceded by a yellow question mark. 7. Insert the computer manufacturer s CD that contains the driver files. Note: If you do not have a CD with drivers, you can try searching for the drivers on the manufacturer s Web site. 8. Click on device with the question mark. 9. Click on Drivers tab. 10. Click Update Driver. 11. Follow the prompts. 12. Repeat for each missing driver. Note: MWA users should also download and install the MS02-46 and MS02-47 Microsoft Security patches immediately from the following Web addresses: net/security/bulletin/ms asp net/security/bulletin/ms asp Installing Metasys Person-Machine Interface (PMI) on the Same Computer as MWA To install Metasys PMI on the Same Computer as MWA: Note: Only install Metasys PMI if it is going to reside on the same computer as MWA (single box solution). 1. Insert the Johnson Controls PMI CD. 2. On the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel. On the Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs. 3. Click Add New Programs. 4. Click the CD or Floppy button. 5. Run Setup.exe from the CD. 6. Click OK to the Metasys upgrade warning message that reads, if you are upgrading from a Release prior to Release 10, DO NOT make changes to Passwords or Report Access Groups until the ENTIRE network has been upgraded to the new Release.

Select the PMI components needed for your job site: Personal Machine Interface Data Definition Language Standalone WNCSetup 8. On the Update Autoexec.bat box, click Continue. 9. Click OK. 10. On the Modify Config Sys file box, click Continue. 11. Click OK. 12. On the warning after install, click OK. 13. Click Yes to reboot the computer. 14. After the computer reboots and PMI starts, exit to the program manager and close Metasys PMI. 15. On the Start menu, click Programs>Startup and right-click on Metasys. Select Delete from the pop-up menu. Note: Delete Metasys from the Startup menu so Metasys PMI does not start automatically when you reboot the computer. This prevents Metasys PMI from starting up when the MWA installation reboots the computer. Run the PrepFor Utility Note: Do not run the PrepFor utility after you install M5 or MWA software. 16. Start Windows Explorer. 17. Under C: create a folder called Project (or use a customer-specific name). 18. Under the Project folder, create another folder using the job name (for example, JCI_HQ). 19. Using Windows Explorer, right-click on the Autoexec.bat file located in the C: root directory and verify that the hidden attribute is not selected. Note: You may need to change the folder properties to show hidden files if Autoexec.bat is hidden. 20. Go to the MS-DOS prompt (for example, on the Start menu, select Run and type CMD). 21. Get to the root C:
9 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin Type PREP-FOR C: \PROJECT\JCI_HQ C:\WINNT Note: Pay special attention to where the spaces are. 23. Click Enter. IMPORTANT: Generate the DDL for the Metasys PMI OWS database and make sure a connection can be made to the N1 network and that data can be obtained. Refer to the Operator Workstation Technical Bulletin (LIT ) for details. Resolve any problems before going to the next procedure. Installing MWA Software Notes: Before installing MWA software, you need to install the new Terminal Services client (Remote Desktop Web Connection ActiveX Control) from the Microsoft Web site on MWA Server according to Step 1 shown below. For more details on installing MWA software, refer to the Installing and Commissioning Metasys Web Access Technical Bulletin (LIT ). To install MWA software: 1. On the MWA server machine, navigate to asp, select your language, and install the most recent version of the Remote Desktop Web Connection ActiveX Control into the TSWeb directory (default). 2. Insert the MWA CD. 3. Click Yes to start M5 installation, then OK to the information dialog box. 4. Accept all defaults. 5. Select Typical Installation. 6. Accept all defaults. 7. Click OK to restart the computer. 8. After the computer reboots, log back on to the MWA Windows 2000 server. 9. Leave Autologin Setup box blank, and click Next. 10. Click OK to restart the computer again. 11. Accept all defaults. 12. Click Next. 13. Select Domain User and complete the Username and Password fields. Use the same user name and password that you created when loading the Windows 2000 Server Operating System.
10 10 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin Notes: The user you enter must have administrator privileges. 14. Restart the computer and remove the MWA CD. 15. The M5 Authorization Not Present warning box appears. Click OK. 16. On the Start menu, select Programs >Johnson Controls > M-Authorize. Refer to the Using M-Authorize Technical Bulletin (LIT ). Note: The MWA software installation is complete. Activating Terminal Services Licensing Note: There are four ways to Activate Terminal Services Licensing (Internet, World Wide Web, Fax, and Telephone). Each method uses a Windows utility to guide you through the process. As an example, the following procedure describes how to activate Terminal Services Licensing by telephone. To activate Terminal Services licensing (by telephone): 1. On the Start menu, select Programs > Administrative Tools> Terminal Services Licensing. 2. Right-click on server name (for example, MWASERVER) in the right panel and select Activate Server from the pop-up menu. The Licensing Wizard appears. 3. Click Next. 4. Select Telephone as the Connection Method. Click Next. Note: All connection methods and instructions are described in the dialog boxes of the Terminal Services licensing wizard. 5. Select your Country, (for example United States of America) and click Next. The telephone number appears for the country you selected. 6. Call the phone number that appears in the dialog box for Microsoft Customer Service to get the authorization code. Tell the Microsoft Customer Service agent that you: want to activate Terminal Services need a key pack for Terminal Services Notes: The Microsoft representative needs: the type of agreement (open or select). If the software was purchased (shrink wrapped box, retail purchase), it is an open agreement.
11 Appendix A: Metasys Web Access Server Installation Guidelines Technical Bulletin 11 the Windows 2000 server license code (on the screen) the license code from the client license pack (sheet of paper) if additional licenses were ordered The Microsoft representative gives you client license key pack IDs to enter on the screen. 7. Click Next to install the licenses. Note: If the customer has an existing select agreement with Microsoft, the customer may want to use this for licensing (this requires consultation and agreement with customer s IT staff). For a select agreement, Microsoft Customer Service asks for: an enrollment number (the customer s IT staff needs to supply this number) a contact person (the customer s IT staff needs to supply this name) Controls Group 507 E.
