1. Introduction and General Guidelines This manual is intended to serve as a Reference Guide on implementation of geological data in Department of Mines and Geology Government of Karnataka. The GIS Module is an integrated software application that makes a Single window, for filling GIS information. The System is an on-line computerized system which manages the online filling of filed survey report and reserved area data operations for the department user. 1.1. User Interface System allows the user to login into the application. 1.2. GIS Module System allows the user to view the GIS Map according to the layer different types of layer. 2. Getting Started 2.1 Log on Department Login To Log into system every applicant need to follow steps below 1. Open Internet Explorer (Browser) and enter application URL www.dmgkarnataka.org. 2. 3. Enter User ID and password. 4. Enter the captcha. 5. Click on Login button. 6. If User has forgotten password then click on Forgot Password? (The password will be mailed to the email then the password can be changed) 7. After login user can see the module screen according to role and rights. 3. Working with GIS Module This module will enable a user to view the GIS map with different layers. 3.1. Geographical Information System When user clicks on Geographical Information System Module then below screen will open. Figure 4: Main Screen (GIS) The main screen divides into three frames left frame, right frame and top frame. Left Frame 1. Left frame contain two panel Result panel and Map Contents panel. 2. Result Panel - When user click on search and enter any mineral name then the result will come in Result Panel shown as below. (Geographical Information System) Page 8

Right Frame 1. Right frame contain Maps and navigation bar. 2. Navigation Bar has options to navigate the map in North Side, South Side, East Side and West Side. 3. Top Frame 1. In Top frame left side contains Search, Print, Scale, Lease Query and Lessee Query. 2. Top frame middle side contains user define scale provision to change the scale according to requirement. 3. Top frame right side contains Zoom In, Zoom Out, Pan, Full Extent, Back and Forward Extent; Go to Location, Magnifier, Map Identifier, Measure and Show Overview Map tools. Figure 20: Top Frame 4. Search For search the mineral, lessee, lease no., district, Taluka, notified area, and geology user has to click on search button enter the text and click on Find button shown as below. Zoom Out User can click on (-) minus symbol and user can use this icon to zoom out the map. 11. Pan User can click on symbol (hand cursor) and user can use this icon to Pan the map. 12. Full Extent User can click on globe symbol and user can use this icon to full map with actual scale. 13. Back Extent User can click on left arrow symbol and user can use this icon to go to pervious stage. 14. Forward Extent User can click on right arrow symbol and user can use this icon to go to next stage. 15. GO To Location User can click on xy symbol and user can enter the x and y position to zoom the particular location shown as below. (Geographical Information System) Page 20

17. Magnifier User can click on magnifier symbol and it will zoom in the particular location show as below. Figure 29: Magnifier 18. Map Identifier User can click on symbol, this icon is used to get the detail of a particular object. 19. After click on this icon user has to click any shape or object and it will shown as below. 22. Measure User can click on scale symbol and there are 3 potions for user 1).point coordinate, 2).line distance, 3).polygon area shown as below. Figure 33: Measure 23. 24. Line Distance Click on the map and draw a line. Double-click to end the line shown as below. Figure 35: Measure (Line - Distance) 25. User can select the distance unit in feet, meters, miles and kilometers. 26. Polygon Area Click on the map and draw a polygon. Double-click to end the polygon shown as below.
