Sows Menu: Click on the sow card icon from the main screen Sow card with keyboard for data entry Sow card with keyboard removed showing stats Enter button Show/Hide keyboard by clicking this button To view an individual sow card, tap into the Sow box and enter required sow ID. Press enter button to view card. If using letter tags, remember to tap shift key once for capital letter. To scroll through existing sow cards, tap on the small up/down arrows on the Sow box. To enter an event, tap and hold on screen with stylus in the chosen box. The event entry screen will appear. Fill out all required data and click OK to accept. Data will then be shown on sow card. TIP if you have to enter a return service date onto the sow card to be able to enter a farrowing that has occurred recently, enter -115 (minus 115) into the Date box and tap enter. This will produce a date that is 115 days ago and will therefore fit the recent farrowing. TIP to delete a new event that you have just entered, tap once on its box and then tap To view events in more detail, tap the Compres. button at the bottom of the screen to show further options TIP to view a list of codes set up in Pocket Pigs, tap and hold in the Code box of the relevant screen. Any changes to codes will need to be made in WinPig and then this will transfer to Pocket Pigs when data is next synchronised. To enter a cull or death date against a sow, tap and hold in the Removed box at the top of the sow card. TIP to view just animals that are listed in a certain location, find one animal in that location and then place a tick in the Loc square. Now when you scroll through sow cards it will only show animals in that location. Only new events entered since you last synchronised data with WinPig on your computer can be deleted. Any other changes will need to be made in WinPig when you next synchronise your data. Only active sows are transferred to Pocket Pigs. All animals that are no longer active will be shown in your main WinPig program on the PC. Tap OK to go back to the main menu

Work List: View action lists and enter data Tap and hold on a date to bring up the sow card of that animal Tap Find button to view work lists set up Example of Sows to Farrow list showing 26 animals ready to farrow The Sows to Farrow list on the right shows the animals due for this week. Their location (if entered) would show in From box, parity and last event date are also shown. To enter a farrowing against W144, place a tick in the Done box against her number Fill out the data entry screen with the relevant details and tap OK to show new event on sow card All other events can be entered in this way. On a service list, if you want the previous boar/ai entry to appear on the next sow you serve, please see the section on the Date Check option at the bottom of page 1. TIP to enter yesterday s date in the date box, enter -1 and tap enter. This saves having to enter the full date. The same principle applies for other dates in the past; -2 would display the date two days ago etc To view last week s sows due to farrow tap and then choose -1 for last week or +1 for next week To set a location for all animals on the currently viewed work list, tap and then tap Set Loc To view the set-up of the chosen list, tap. Make any changes and then click OK to return to list TIP if you use the pregnancy option in WinPig, tap on the Preg Checked NIP option under the Find menu to show those animals marked as not in-pig. TIP to mark a potential cull in Pocket Pigs so that it shows on-screen with a red highlight (PDA only), carry out the following: 1) In WinPig on your computer, go to General, Extern Data Registration and choose System Setup (at the bottom) 2) Scroll down to the section called Registration and enter a unique code in the Mark for Slaughter Code box. This should be a number which is not being used. We recommend 200. 3) Click OK to confirm 4) In Pocket Pigs, use the Supl Reg option on the sow card (under the heading Compres ) to register a comment using that unique code against a sow that you wish to mark as a potential cull or poor performer. 5) From now on, whenever she appears on a sow card or a work list, she will be highlighted in red (Pocket Pigs only) 6) You can also view all animals marked with this code in Work List, Find button and select Must be Culled Tap a column heading to sort animals on a work list by sow ID, location, parity or last event date All work list parameters can be amended if necessary, please contact Agrosoft to help you if required

Progeny: enter basic feeding herd data movements, deaths etc Tap on the All button at the bottom to select an event to enter The screen shot on the right is showing the Sold/Transferred option A movement of pigs has been entered showing 100 with a weight of 3000 kg moving from G to F Pigs going for slaughter can be entered under the Slaught section Deaths can be entered under the Dead option as shown below: This shows 2 deaths entered weighing a total of 50kg from location F with the code 25 TIP to display a list of codes, tap and hold in the Code box.

Agrosync synchronising data between Pocket Pigs and WinPig on your computer Every time you turn on your computer, Agrosync will automatically load and you will notice the green circle in the taskbar (bottom right of your screen as shown below). Agrosync icon Connect your Pocket PC to your main PC in the usual way (either cradle or lead). If you have Windows XP, you will notice that Microsoft Activesync will start but you can ignore this as it is not used with the Pocket Pigs software. In Pocket Pigs, tap on the Agrosync icon on the main screen A screen similar to below will appear: When the Status column reads as Ready for PC go into WinPig on your computer and click on the Pocket PC button (3 rd icon from the right along the top under the main menu headings) Any new data that has been input will be shown on the viewing transferred data screen similar to below: View Print Preview of data Delete All before upload into WinPig Transfer button (uploads data into WinPig) Data is once again validated before it is uploaded into WinPig. After you have clicked on the transfer button, if this screen still appears then there is some data that has not been accepted. Click on these tabs to display the new events prior to upload into WinPig Make a note of it and then click Delete All button and check data in WinPig on sow cards Clicking on the individual event tabs (served, farrowed, weaned etc) will then show the individual events that have been input on the Pocket PC since the last time data was transferred.

If you would like a printed copy of the new data before it is uploaded into WinPig, click on to display a print preview of all events. This can be printed if required, Click on the Transfer button to upload the data into your WinPig software If this Viewing Transferred Data window disappears then all the data has been validated and entered successfully into WinPig. If so, please skip the next two bullet points. If the window remains displayed then this means that there is some data that needs checking. Click through the tabs until you find any data. Make a note of each line that is showing or you can check that animal s details by clicking on the sow card icon. This should then indicate why the information is not uploading successfully. Once you have noted this, you will need to clear this data by clicking on the Delete All button Any changes can now be made in WinPig. The Pocket PC is now empty of any data and this will need to be downloaded before you return to your herd. Click on the Pocket PC button and the WinPig Pocket PC - Transfer screen will appear: Click OK to transfer data back to the Pocket PC. After a few seconds, the Pocket Pigs screen will start to receive the data. When the transfer is complete, the Pocket Pigs screen will display the main menu and you will have a fully updated herd. Please ensure that you transfer any new data to your computer before you update WinPig on your computer. You can download the latest version by clicking Help menu and choosing Download Update. Follow on-screen instructions and when WinPig re-starts, click yes to update Pocket Pigs if this option is available. Any queries with the update process, please contact Agrosoft.

Troubleshooting problems with Pocket Pigs and the PDA 1. When I try to transfer data, a message appears on my PDA screen saying No connection to Agrosync Answer: Check that Agrosync is running on your computer. There should be a solid green circle in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen like this. If not then click Start menu, Programs, Agrosoft, Agrosync and then click on Agrosync. The green circle should then appear. Try to send data again. You may have to click the Test button on the PDA to get this to work. 2. The viewing transferred data screen keeps coming up after I have pressed the transfer button Answer: This means that some data is not able to be transferred into WinPig. Click on the individual event tabs (Served, Farrowed, Weaned etc) and see if you can find some data. Make a note of it and then click the Delete All button. This will get rid of the screen and you can then check the sows on their sow cards in WinPig and make any changes before sending the data back to the PDA. 3. I am working in Pocket Pigs and whatever I press I cannot get out of the screen I am in Answer: Press the reset button on the right hand side of your PDA (this will vary on certain models). This will re-start the PDA but will not lose any data and is similar to re-starting a computer. 4. I cannot get a connection to my PDA when I plug in the lead to synchronise data Answer: Try re-starting your computer and resetting your PDA as mentioned above. 5. How long will the battery last on my PDA? Answer: It depends on how much it is used. Usually you can expect 8-10 hours of use depending on the make and model. Keep an eye of the battery level and make sure that it is kept well charged up. You do not have to run the battery completely down to be able to recharge it. 6. The screen on the PDA is becoming unresponsive and does not respond correctly where I tap Answer: On the PDA, tap the Start menu and choose Settings and then tap the System tab at the bottom. There will be an option here called Screen or Align Screen which should re-calibrate the PDA for you when you follow instructions. 7. How do I adjust the brightness of the PDA screen? Answer: On the PDA, tap the Start menu and choose Settings and then tap the System tab at the bottom. Tap the option called Backlight or Brightness. Here you can adjust the various settings as required. 8. How do I disable the buttons on the front of the PDA as they can sometimes be pressed by mistake? Answer: On the PDA, tap the Start menu and choose Settings. Tap the Buttons option. Tap once on a button and then choose None from the Assign a program option. Press OK when complete. You can also choose to turn off the Record button which is on the right hand side of the PDA. For help with any problems or queries related to Pocket Pigs or the PDA in general, please call James on 01728 685118 or 07973 701405
