Connecting to the NJITSecure wireless network. 1. Start by going to the Start menu and selecting Control Panel 2. Your control Panel will most likely be in Category view, you will need to change it to one of the Icon views either Small or Large.

3. Once you are in the Icon view, double click on Network and Sharing Center. 4. Click on Manage wireless networks

5. Click Add 6. Click Manually create a network profile

7. You will be presented with a page to enter the information for your new wireless network 8. Enter the information as shown below Network name: NJITsecure, Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise, Encryption Type: AES Also make sure the check box for Start this connection automatically is set Once you have filled in the appropriate information click Next

9. Once you have added the Network you should see this page. Click on Change connection settings 10. Click on the Security Tab of the NJITsecure Wireless Network Properties page, and then click on Settings.

11. At this time we will configure the EAP Properties for this Network. Make sure the page is set as shown below. REMOVE the "Validate server certificate" check.

11a. Once your page looks the picture below click Configure. 12. At this time you will see the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties dialog box. If you have an NJIT owned laptop that is on the NJIT domain you will want to make sure the check box is selected. An indication that your computer is most likely on the domain is that you would log on with the same username and password as if you were using your office PC. If you have already determined that your PC is on the domain and completed step 12 proceed to step 13 12a.. If you have a personally owned laptop or a laptop that is not part of the NJIT domain, you would want to leave this unchecked

13. After you made your appropriate setting in steps 12 or 12a click OK to close the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties window and click OK once again to close the Protected EAP properties window.

14. At this point you should be at the NJITsecure Wireless Network Properties page. Click on Advanced settings

15. In the Advanced Setting dialog box make sure for Specify authentication mode is checked and specify User authentication as shown below. * For a personally owned laptop or a laptop that is not part of the NJIT domain skip to step # 16 now* 18. If your computer is on the NJIT domain make sure the for Enable single sign on for this network is checked as well as the radio button Perform immediately before user logon and the for Allow additional dialogs to be displayed during single sign on An indication that your computer is most likely on the domain is that you would log on with the same username and password as if you were using your office PC.

**If your computer is on the domain and you completed step # 15a skip to step # 18 now.

16. If you configured the advanced setting dialog box as shown in step # 15 (shown below) click Save Credentials (Do not do this if your computer is a member of the NJIT Domain) 17. (Do not do this if your computer is a member of the NJIT Domain) The Save Credentials Dialog box opens up and prompts you for your login name and password. If you are a Faculty or staff member your login name will be njitdm\loginname.

If you are a student you will log in with your Academic UCID and password in the format show below. 18. Click OK until you are back at the Manage Wireless Networks Page.

19. If the NJITsecure network is not at the top you will need to move it above all other NJIT wireless connections. This can be accomplished by clicking on NJITsecure to highlight it (area turns light blue) and then click Move Up as needed. When done close the window by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner. 20. Along the taskbar (normally found along the bottom of the screen you will see wireless strength bars Click on them, you will see all the wireless networks in range. If for some reason they are not on your taskbar click on the small triangle pointing upward and then click on the wireless strength bars.

21. Find the network labeled NJITsecure and click on in it, then click Connect. It should connect automatically each time the network is in range, provided you followed the steps correctly. For personally owned computers that are not on the NJIT domain the only time you would need to make changes would be when your password changes.
