SkyView Remote Connection Setup: Follow these steps to connect to your SkyView DVR Server on a Broadband internet connection from a Remote PC. A, Get the internal IP address of the server 1. Exit the software into Windows XP 2. Open the Start Menu 3. Press RUN 4. Type CMD 5. In the window that opens type IPCONFIG 6. It will print out a lot of information, you are looking for the IP address of your network card. (for example 192.168.1.1) 1
B. Now open the Configuration of your Router (you will have to consult the users manual for your router. Forward TCP Ports 1350, 1351 and 1357 to the IP address you received above. (Since Each Router is different, we will not be able to assist you with this step please consult the user s manual or manufacturer of your router for assistance in forwarding a port.) This is an example of a LinkSys Router s Forwarding configuration page. Yours may be the same or different depending on the type of router you have. Notice the IP address on the right of the configuration is for the Internal IP for the DVR Server that you found through step A. Your configuration will probably be similar to this one. 2
C. Now you will need to get the external IP address of your internet connection 1. Open a Web-Browser in Windows 2. Browse to http://whatismyip.com 3. Write down this IP address because you will use it for connecting to your DVR server Note: You MUST have an active internet connection to complete this step. D. Now install the SkyView RX Software onto your PC at the remote location After installation, start the SkyView Rx Software by double-left-clicking on the SkyView RX Icon (Shown Below) located on your Desktop or in the Start Menu. After Clicking the Icon to the Left, SkyView will ask for a User name and Password. Note: This is NOT the User Name/Password that is set up on your DVR Server, Use the following default login: User Name: Administrator Password: 1234 3
1. Once you have entered your password, the SkyView RX software will open. Click on the Setup Button 2. Make Sure <<Local>> is selected and press connect. 3. Select the Internet Connection Tab on the window that opens. 4. Type in a Name for your Server in the Server Name box. 5. Enter the External IP address into the Server IP box. 6. Press the Add Button 7. You should now see your server name and IP Address in the Remote Server Settings box to the left. 4
7. In the Remote Server Box in the lower left of the screen, Select your server name from the Pulldown menu. 8. Check the box of the Cameras from that server you want to include in your connection group and hit the Add Button. 9. Your Server IP address and added cameras should appear in the Group Content Settings Box on the Left. (See Diagram Below) 10. Repeat the above steps with a different server and IP address in order to connect to cameras from multiple locations at the same time. 5
11. Change the Group Name at the bottom of the Group Content Settings section 12. Press the Modify button 13. Press OK at the bottom of the window to apply the settings 14. The above steps 1-14 only need to be performed when connecting for the first time, or adding additional servers/cameras to your group. See below for the steps that will be used each time you connect to the server to view. 15. Once back at the main screen, now press the Connect button. 16. Select the Group you named above and expand the options to enter user name and password (this WILL be the user name and password of a remote access enabled account on the DVR Server) 17. Once ready, press Connect to connect to the server Note: You must have the SkyView TX Program running on the DVR Server to connect Remotely. Note: If you have a Dynamic IP Address Remote Connection, your external IP address will change from time to time it is recommended that you either upgrade your connection to a Static IP address (which will never change) or use a Dynamic IP registration service such as http://www.no-ip.com which can give you a static address to use. 6
