5 Overview Blog extension for Magento 2 gives you a noteworthy opportunity to communicate with your regular customers and casual visitors. With Magento 2 Blog extension you can create an interactive two-way communication platform to provide official information on your store like news, upcoming products, promotions, and get customers feedback. Since, online blogging is one of the best and effective marketing tactics, so if your customers feel that they are listened to and their needs are responded to, they are more likely to come back to your store again and again. Want to learn more about your customers choices, views, and preferences? Just let people leave comments and listen what they say! Upon becoming a part of the blog community, your customers will openly exchange their thoughts and express their opinions. A blog, with its readers and their comments, forms a real live environment where people feel free to communicate. Configuration Settings The configuration settings can be opened from Blog > Blog Configuration > CedCommerce Extension. A) General i. Enable Blog Extension When set to Yes, Blog Extension will be enabled which means that this extension will be shown at frontend. If set to No, it will not be shown at frontend as well as on admin panel. ii. Route to Blog From here we can set the front-name of URL and by default it is set to blog. iii. Date Format When you set any date format from drop-down, it gets reflected on the blog frontend date format of post. By default it is set to mm/dd/yyyy.
6 iv. Post per Page In this field, you can set the number of posts per page. v. Show Bookmarks in Posts When set to Yes, Bookmarks will be visible after each post. vi. vii. viii. Post text show limit This field is used to set the limit for post text. Recent Posts The value in this field is used to show the number of recent posts. Tags To Display When set to Yes, Tags will be visible in the left sidebar at frontend. B) Comment For the comments there are few settings which can be described as: a) When Default comment setting is enabled
7 i. Enable Comments In this field, if you set yes, comments will be displayed on frontend ii. Login Required to Comments When set to Yes, only customer will be able to write the comments. At that time guest can only view the post. iii. Auto Approved Comments This feature will auto approve all the comments that are done on the posts. Admin does not need to approve them manually. By default the value is set to no. b) When Facebook comment setting is enabled i. No of comments This value will limit the comments on frontend. ii. Facebook Application Id This is the application id which admin has to get after registering on Facebook.
8 c) When Disqus Comment setting is enabled i. Your Disqus Forum Short name This is the short name which admin has to register on the disqus site C) RSS Feed For the RSS feed there are few settings which can be described as: i. Feed Title This will be the title of feed. ii. Feed Description This will be the feed description.
9 Admin Panel To view the Blog admin panel of the Blog Extension you should be logged in as Admin. Then you will see the menu Blog in the left navigation menu. Click on the blog to see the list of blog s menus. Click here to manage blog extension.
10 Manage Blog Post To view the blog post click on the Manage Blog Post in the left navigation menu.this section will display the grid having details of all the post that have been added. The grid is filterable and can be filtered on the basis of Id, Title, URL, Created At and Status. Click here to add new post From Here we can add the new post as well as edit the post. Create New Post To add the new post just click on the button Add New Post on the header section of post listing page. Here we will see many sections. We will discuss one by one. i. General Information Post Title In this field, you have to give full name of post title which will be displayed on frontend. Post Content In this field, you have to give description of your post.
11 Post Featured Image In this field you can upload image for post Publish Date- Here you can set publish date for post. Post Status In this dropdown field, we can set post status. If admin wants to publish post on frontend then publish status will be selected.if admin does not want to show the post on frontend then un-publish status will be selected Post Url This field is required to view the post on front-end. Category In this field authors can assign post to those categories which are assigned to him by admin. Tags Tags are those keywords which help readers to search related posts.
12 ii. SEO Information Meta Title In this field Meta title is set so that on the front-end post can be searched. Meta Content In this field Meta content is written. Meta Keywords In this field Meta keywords are set so that on the front-end post can be searched.
13 iii. Product In this tab catalog products are listed. If admin wants to assign some product to that post then it can be assigned.
14 Manage Blog Category To view the blog category click on the Manage Blog Category in the left navigation menu.this section will display the grid having the details of all the categories that have been added. The grid is filterable and can be filtered on the basis of Id, Title and URL Key. From Here we can add the new category as well as edit the category. Click here to add new category
15 Create New Category To add the new category just click on the button Add New Category on the header section of category listing page. Here we will see many sections. We will discuss one by one. i. Basic Settings Title In this field, you have to give the name of category in which the post will be assigned. Url Key This field is required to view the post assigned to the category on front-end. Category Image In this field image can be uploaded for category. ii. SEO Information Sort Order In this field, the order of category is decided. Meta Keywords In this field Meta keywords are written which help in searching. Description This field is used for the description about the category.
16 iii. Related Posts This section will add the post to the category.
17 Manage Blog Comments To add the new comments from admin panel just click on the button Add New Comments on the header section of comments listing page. In this section admin can also add comment and it is shown in the related post. Click here to add new category Create New Comment In this section new comment for any post can be added. This section contains some functionality which can be shown as:
Select the post on which you want to comment 18 After selecting the post, now you have to fill the information related to comment.in this section if admin wants to view the post then he can also view and edit the post by clicking on the Post Title field.and if the admin does not want to show the comment on front-end then he can set the status also. Admin can view the post by clicking on post title
19 Edit and View Comment From this section admin can view the comment posted by the customer/guest and if the configuration setting for auto approved comment is disable then the admin will approve the comment then comment will show on the front-end. Admin can approve/disapproved In the view section of comment, if the author type is customer then the customer profile can also be visited so that admin can verify the profile of the customer and if it exits then he can approve the comment and can also set the status of comment to disapproved or pending Manage Users To add the new users just click on the button Add New Users on the header section of User listing page.
Click here to add new user 20 i. User Info: User Name In this field, you have to give unique username of new user which you want to create. First Name In this field, you have to give first name for new user. Last Name In this field, you have to give last name for new user. Email In this field, you have to give email of new user. Password In this field, you have to give minimum 7 character password having combination of numbers and alphabets. Password Confirmation This field is required to confirm the password again.
21 Interface Locale This field is a selection field to select Interface Locale from dropdown for new user. This account is Select Active/Inactive new user as per your choice. Current User Identity Verification Your Password In this field, you have to give your admin password. ii. User Role: This section will assign role to user. If admin wants to give permission only for blog then it can be given form this section.
22 iii. Blog Category: About Author In this field, you can give description about the new author. Profile Image In this field, you have to give profile image of author. Blog Category In this field, you have to select blog category which will be assigned to new author so that he can post only in those assigned categories.
