1 Creating Post(s) In WordPress Posts In WordPress: Here is what posts are in WordPress: Posts are regular blog entries i.e. dynamic content. When any Post(s) are published, they appear automatically in reverse chronological order on your blog home page. The most recent entries appearing first. Posts can be categorized under one or multiple categories. Posts can contain unlimited number of Tags. Posts are included in archives and feeds. Posts are always associated with a date, which is included in the URL. Posts cannot have Parent Or Child Posts. Create A New Post: To create a new post in WordPress 3.X.X login to WordPress as administrator, by simply entering the url_of_your_website/wp-admin in your Browser. Enter the appropriate username and password {which was provided while installing Wordpress} and then click on Log In as shown in Diagram 1. Diagram 1 After logging in as WordPress Admin, a Dashboard page opens as shown in Diagram 2. The Dashboard provides access to different WordPress functions and features. Diagram 2 1
2 WordPress CMS provides three ways for creating a new post. You can follow any one of them to create a new post. 1. Select New Post from the upper right corner of an administration screen as shown in Diagram 3. Diagram 3 2. In the left menu, locate the link Posts. Click Posts. From the drop down menu that appears click on Posts and then click on Add New as shown in Diagram 4. Diagram 4 3. In the left menu, locate the link Posts. Click Posts. From the drop down menu that appears click on Add New as shown in Diagram 5. Diagram 5 2
3 Add New Post screen is displayed as shown in Diagram 6. From here you can, add content to a post, save the post as a draft and /or publish the post. While the editor is set to the Visual tab, enter the content of the post in the editing area as shown in Diagram 7. NOTE: You can compose a post while the editor is set to either Visual or HTML view. Diagram 7 3
4 On the right hand side publish box, click Publish as shown in Diagram 8. This box contains buttons that control the state of your page. The Published status means the post has been published on your blog and is visible for users. Draft means the post has not been published and remains a draft for you. If you select a specific status and click the update page or Publish button, that status is applied to the page. Diagram 8 Post published message is displayed as shown in Diagram 9. Diagram 9 4
