Machine setup: Scenario 1 1 2 A server which is connecting to the Cloud Backup Accelerator Commvault server will talk to server and in turn connect to the Cloud Backup Accelerator tape library How to connect a server with the CloudLanes Data Platform Machine setup: Scenario 2 Commvault server (2008 R2 and above) Cloud Backup Accelerator If you are using only two servers (Scenario 2), then there is no need to install the Media agent on the Commvault server. By default, Commvault setup installs a local Media agent on the server itself.
1 Launch iscsi initiator on the server which will 2 connect to the Cloud Backup Accelerator. Under Target specify the IP address of the Cloud Backup Accelerator and click on quick connect. The login would fail with error unable to Login to the target. Click on Done.
3 Click on Connect button, click on Advanced from the connect to Target dialog box. In the Advanced settings select the followings Local Adapter: Microsoft iscsi Initiator. Initiator IP: Select the Local host IP address. Target Portal IP: Select the Cloud Backup Accelerator IP address Click on Enable CHAP logon Name: Cladmin Password: cloudlanes2016 4 Click on OK. This will connect the server to the Cloud Backup Accelerator over iscsi
How to detect the tape library from Commvault. To configure the Cloud Backup Accelerator with Commvault we have to follow the below steps. 1 Install Commvault Media Agent on target server which is connected to the Cloud Backup Accelerator. Media agent will detect the tape library. This step is a must without it will not detect the tape library. 2 After Media agent is installed we have to detect and configure the Library. 3 Once Library is configured mount the media and we are good to take backup to the Cloud Backup Accelerator. ** Please note this step is only applicable if you Scenario 1(3 server setup configuration). If Commvault server is connecting to the Cloud Backup Accelerator over iscsi skip the step 1 and move to step 2.

1 From CommCell, Click on Tools, Add/Remove 2 Software, Click on Install Software Select Windows. Choose Manual or Automatic discover computer
3 Type the IP address of the Machine where you want to 4 install the agent. Specify the admin account and password.
5 Select Media agent. Click Next, Next and finish 6 You can monitor the Media agent installation from Job Controller.
Detect and configure tape library
1 After media agent is installed on the Cloud Backup 2 Accelerator box, click on CommCell,Library, Add Tape Library Select the Media Agent, Scan Hardware, This will detect the Tape library
Configure Tape Library Advance option not required, because most of the times tape library is detected and configured automatically) Use this option if Tape library is not getting configured. 1 From CommCell, Click on Expert Storage Configuration, 2 Right click on Library and click on Select Media Agent Add the remote server to the list
3 Select Data path and click on Exhaustive detection 4 Click Yes. Repeat the above steps for all the drive. Please not Exhaustive detection will unload all drives, not recommended if you have any current job running.

1 Click on Media in Library. Select the media, Select 2 Load Media. Specify Media Agent, Drive pool and Drive
Creating Backup Job Commvault is a policy driven solution so we will have to create policies to run a successful backup. 1 2 3 Create Storage Policy: Storage policy decides where your backup will be written. Create subclient Policy: Storage policy lets to configure what you want to backup and other settings. Create Export location (This is not a policy but a location for exporting tape)

1 From the CommCell Browser. Scroll down and right 2 click on Storage Polices. Select New Storage Policy. Select Data protection and Archiving
3 Type a name for the policy and click Next 4 Select the library (Since we have only one Cloud Backup Accelerator) configured to choose the default one from the list.
5 Select the Media agent and Drive pool and click next. 6 Hit Next, Next and select the compression settings, click next and Finish.

1 From the CommCell Browser, Scroll down and right 2 click on Storage Polices. Select New Storage Policy From IDataAgent select Windows file system and click on ADD
3 Give a name to the Subclient policy and then click on 4 the Content tab. Click on Browse, Select the data you would like to backup and click on Add and click on Storage Device Tab.
5 Click on Storage Device Tab and select the Storage policy that we created.
5 Select the Media agent and Drive pool and click next. 6 Hit Next, Next and select the compression settings, click next and Finish.
Backup
How to take the backup of the client 1 You need to enable the client for the first time, as you 2 can see File system (DefaultBackupSet) is disabled. Right click on the File System, All Task, Reconfigure. The file system will be active and you can run the backup.
Taking backup of the client 1 From CommCell Browser, Select the client that you 2 want to backup. Select the Subclient, Right click and choose Backup Select the type of backup Full /Incremental. Select Immediate under Job Initiation or choose a schedule to run the backup at a later time. Click on Advanced
3 Click on Data Path Select use MediaAgent. Select the agent from the drop down box. Select use Library. Select the library from the drop down box. Leave the other options blank, you can select Drive if you want to target the job to a specific Drive. Click OK and OK Monitor the backup job under job controller
Restoring data from Backup 1 From the CommCell Browser. Select the Subclient. 2 Right click on the Subclient. Select Browse and Restore Select Latest Backup or Time Range and click on View content.
3 Browse the file that you want to restore and click on 4 List Media and Size. List media will list all the media, select the appropriate tape from which you want to restore the data and click on Close.
5 Click on Recover all selected 6 Select the appropriate option (In this case I am restoring Data & ACL to the same folder) and click OK.
7 I am renaming the original file so that we could see 8 the files getting restored. I have renamed the file as Renaming it for restore_cl1500.tar Under Jobcontrol we can see that restore completed
9 Logon to the server and check the file. We can see the file was restored successfully.
Configure the backup to export tape after backup. 1 Browser to CommCell Browser, Location, Right click 2 and click on New Location Type Location Name Type Stationary. Click ok
Create Vault Rule 1 Browser to CommCell Browser. Right click, Select New 2 Tracking Policy. Type in Policy Name
3 Click on Export Media 4 Select the storage policy that we created.
5 Select Library and Export location. 6 Select all Media Status and Media Groups
7 Select Library and Export location. 8 Select Export and select the Location that we created.
9 Hit next 10 Hit next, click on No and finish
Configure Backup to export the Tape.

Monitoring the Export Tapes. 1 Click on CommCell Browser. Exported Media. vit will 2 display all the exported media. To vies the in progress export tapes. Click on Export in progress from Commcell browser.
3 You can see the same in the Cloud Backup Accelerator console
Importing Tapes back to Commvault
1 From the Cloud Backup Accelerator run the Import command 2 Check the import status in the Cloud Backup Accelerator console 3 The successfully imported tape will show up in Medi In Library.
