Important This is pre-release information for eportfolio 4.3. The functionality, screens, and configuration of features in this guide are subject to change before release. New features in eportfolio 4.3 Reflections in course content You can now allow students to add reflections to their eportfolio from course content. This encourages students to independently analyze and think about their course lessons more frequently. Instructors have the option to enable the Reflect in eportfolio button, allowing students to add a reflection from within the topic in Content. Add a reflection from the Content tool. eportfolio automatically adds three separate tags to a reflection: the course code, module name, and the topic name. This allows students to easily search for all reflections created in the course using this information. Students need to have permission to use tags for this functionality to work. If students do not have permission to create tags, then the tags need to be pre-populated in the system. 2013 by Desire2Learn Incorporated. 2

Tags are automatically added to reflections. Submit reflections to Dropbox You can now submit reflections to Dropbox for assessment. Instructors can view the reflection submission in Dropbox. Once students receive feedback and their evaluations, they can add their original files with feedback as an artifact into their eportfolio from Learning Environment. 2013 by Desire2Learn Incorporated. 3

Students can select an eportfolio reflection from Dropbox for submission. Students can add their feedback and submission into their eportfolio as an artifact. Form templates and form responses The Forms tool in Learning Environment was improved for better usability. New terminology is part of the workflow improvement. Form templates for users can be created at the organization, department, or course level. Users who fill out form templates create form responses that they can add as eportfolio artifacts. 2013 by Desire2Learn Incorporated. 4

Add form templates directly from a module within Content. eportfolio now provides several new features and updates to improve the usability of the Forms tool, including: The Edit Form Template button enables you to edit the form template in a new tab. Buttons to help navigate between editing the form template or form response. Completed form responses are saved in eportfolio and tagged with the course ID, module name, and topic name. Form activities can now be associated to learning objectives. Completion summary tracking is now based on the actual completion of the form. Edit form templates in new tabs Edit form responses or form templates from the form response. 2013 by Desire2Learn Incorporated. 5

Tags are automatically added to form responses Additional presentation themes You now have additional presentation themes to choose from when personalizing presentation. The new themes were designed to reflect a more modern, clean, and minimalistic aesthetic. 2013 by Desire2Learn Incorporated. 6

Two examples of new presentation themes: Orchid and Titan Insert link to pages within a Presentation You can now customize how others view your presentations. Instead of solely using the navigation panel, you can integrate the URL of a particular page as a link into another presentation page to guide viewers through your presentation in whatever order you want. You can find the page link in the Page Properties dialog. The links references a static version of the page when a copy of the presentation is created for Dropbox submissions. 2013 by Desire2Learn Incorporated. 7

Thumbnails for link artifacts in presentations When you add a link artifact to a presentation, a thumbnail for the webpage is displayed instead of a generic icon. Ignore and restore shared items from users You now have greater control over what is displayed in your Newsfeed, Explore page and Invites page. You can click Ignore Items from User from an item s context menu, to ignore all items shared by a user. You can manage the list of users whose items you have ignored from the Settings page. This allows you to restore all items from the users you now want to view. 2013 by Desire2Learn Incorporated. 8
