Lesson 1: Creating, Formatting, and Editing a Word Document with a Picture Microsoft Word 2016 IN THIS CHAPTER, YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO Enter Text in a new document Enhance the Page with a border and Format the Text in the flyer spacing Insert a Picture called Mount Trail, in the flyer Correct errors And Revise text in the flyer. Format the Picture in the flyer. Print or Read the flyer. SET UP - Download the Mountain Trail image from Computer Concept web site.. 1. Open a blank Word document. Maximize the word window 2. In the Styles gallery on the Home tab, click the Normal style. To Type Text 3. Type: Adventure! as the headline. 4. Press the Enter Key to move the insertion point to the beginning of the next line. To Display Formatting Marks 5. If the HOME tab is not the active tab, click HOME on the ribbon then cli the Show/Hide to display the formatting marks on screen. To Insert a Blank Line 6. Press the ENTER key to insert a blank line in the document. To Zoom Page Width 7. Click VIEW on the ribbon to display the VIEW tab. 8. Click the Page Width button to display the page the same width as the document window. To Word-wrap Text as You Type 9. Type the first sentence of the body: Explore scenic trails with breathtaking view as you travel through meadows, forests, streams, and mountains in an off-road vehicle. 10. Press the Enter key to position the insertion point on the next line in the document. To Check Spelling and Grammar as You Type 11. Type: Self-guided tuors and the press the spacebar, so that a red wavy line appears below the misspelled word. 12. Press and hold or right-click the flagged word to display a shortcut menu that presents a list of suggested spelling correction for the flagged word. 13. Click tours on the shortcut menu. To Enter More Text 14. Press the END key to move the insertion point to the end of the current line. 15. Type: available and the press the ENTER key. 16. Type: Open March through October and the press the ENTER key. 1

17. Type: All vehicles and gear provided and then press the ENTER key. 18. Type the signature line in the flyer: To book your adventure, call 555-8928! To Save the Document 19. Save the document as Adventure Flyer.docx. To Center a Paragraph 20. Click the HOME tab on the Ribbon. Click somewhere on the first line. 21. Click the Center button to center the paragraph containing the insertion point. To Center Another Paragraph 22. Click somewhere on the last line (paragraph) to be centered to position the insertion point in the paragraph to be formatted. 23. Click the Center button to center the paragraph containing the insertion point. To Select a line 24. Move the pointer to the left of the first line (Margin) to be selected until the pointer change to a right-pointing block arrow. 25. Double-click to the left of the line to be selected to select the line. To Change the Font Size of Selected Text 26. With the text selected, click the Font Size arrow to display the Font Size gallery 27. Point to 72 in the Font Size gallery to display a live preview of the selected text at the selected point size. 28. Click 72 in the Font Size gallery to increase the font size of the selected text. To Change the Font of Selected Text 29. With the text selected, click the Font arrow to display the Font gallery. 30. Scroll through the Font gallery to display Berlin Sans FB Demi. 31. Click the Berlin Sand FB demi to change the font of the selected text. To Change the Case of Selected Text 32. With the text selected, on the Home tab, in the Font group, click on the Change Case button to display the Change Case gallery. 33. Click UPPERCASE in the Change Case gallery to change the case of the selected text. To Apply a Text Effect 34. With the text selected, click the Text Effects and Typography button to display the Text Effects and Typography gallery. 35. Point to Fill White, Outline Accent 1, Glow Accent 1 to display a live preview of the selected text in the selected text effect. 36. Click Fill White, Outline Accent 1, Glow Accent 1 to change the text effect of the selected text. 37. Click anywhere in the document window to remove the selection from the selected text. 2

To Shade a Paragraph 38. Click on the anywhere on the first line. Click the Shading arrow to display the Shading gallery. 39. Click Green, Accent 6, Darker 25% to shade the current paragraph. To Select Multiple Lines 40. Scroll so that all text below the first line is visible. 41. Select the text below the first line. 42. Click the Font Size arrow to display the Font Size gallery. 43. Click 24 in the Font Size gallery to increase the font size of the selected text. 44. Click anywhere in the document window to remove the selected from the text. To Bullet a List of Paragraphs 45. Select the text: Self-guided tours available to All vehicles and gear provided. 46. Click the Bullets button in the Paragraph group on the HOME tab to place a bullet character at the beginning of each selected paragraph. To Italicize Text 47. Double click on the word breathtaking. 48. Click the Italic button in the Font group on the HOME tab to change the appearance of the text. To Color Text 49. Click the Font Color arrow to display the Font Color gallery. 50. Click Orange, Accent 2, Darker 25% to change the color of the text. To Use the Mini Toolbar to Format Text 51. Select the last line of the flyer. 52. Click the Font Size arrow to display the Font Size gallery. 53. Click 28 in the Font Size gallery to increase the font size of the selected text. 54. Click the Font Color arrow to display the Font Color gallery. 55. Click Orange, Accent 2, Darker 25% to change the color of the text. To Select a Group of Words and Underline Text 56. Select the phone number on the last line of the flyer click and drag from the left of the first 5 to the right of the exclamation point. 57. Click the Underline button to underline the selected text. To Bold Text 58. Select the words off-road in the middle of the flyer. 59. Click the Bold button to underline the selected text. 60. Click anywhere in the document window to remove the selected from the text. To Zoom One Page 61. Click the VIEW on the ribbon to display the VIEW tab. 3

62. Click the One Page button to display the entire page in the document window as large as possible. To Change Theme Colors 63. Click DESIGN on the ribbon to display the DESIGN tab. 64. Click on the Theme Colors button to display the Theme Colors gallery. 65. Click Green in the Colors gallery to change the document theme colors. To Zoom Page Width 66. Click the VIEW tab and click on the Page Width to display the page the same width as the document window. 67. Click the Save button on the Quick Access Toolbar. To Center Another Paragraph 68. Click on the HOME tab, click somewhere on the line underneath the first line (second line). 69. Click the Center button to center the paragraph containing the insertion pint. To Insert a Picture 70. Click the INSERT tab, click the Picture button to display the Insert Picture dialog box. 71. Navigate to your Computer Concept folder to insert the Mountain Trail picture. 72. Click the Insert button to insert the picture. 73. Select the picture. To Resize a Graphic 74. Point at the lower-left corner sizing handle and drag the sizing handle diagonally outward until the lower-left corner of the picture is positioned approximately as shown below. 75. Release the button to resize the picture. Check the size of the picture so that it is about height 3.26 and width 5.04. To Apply a Picture Style 76. Click the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT on the ribbon to display the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT tab. 77. Be sure the graphic still is selected. 78. Click the More button in the Picture Styles gallery to expand the gallery. 79. Point to Drop Shadow Rectangle in the Picture Styles gallery and click on it. To Apply Picture Effects 80. With the picture sill selected, click the Picture Effects button to display the Picture Effect menu. 81. Point to Glow on the Picture Effects menu to display the Glow gallery. 82. Point to Turquoise, 5 pt glow, Accent color 6 in the Glow Variations area and click on it to apply the selected picture effect. 83. Click the Picture Effects button to display the Picture Effects menu again. 84. Point to Bevel on the Picture Effects menu to display the Bevel gallery. 85. Click the Angle in the Bevel gallery to apply the selected picture effect. 4

To Add a Page Border 86. Click DESIGN on the ribbon to display the DESIGN tab. 87. Click the Page Borders button to display the Borders and Shading dialog box. 88. Click the second border style in the Style list to select the style. 89. Click the color arrow to display a Color palette. 90. Click Lime, Accent 2, Lighter 80% in the Color palette to select the color for the Page Border. 91. Click the Width arrow to display the Width list and then click the 4 ½ pt to select the thickness of the page border. 92. Click the OK button. To Zoom to One Page 93. Click the VIEW tab. 94. Click the One Page button to display the entire page in the document window. To Change Spacing Before and After Paragraphs 95. Position the insertion point on the first line. 96. Click the LAYOUT tab on the ribbon. 97. Click the Spacing After box and then type 6 to change the spacing below the paragraph. 98. Then, click the Spacing Before box and then type 6 to change the spacing before the paragraph. If the text flows to two pages, reduce the space before and after to make the flyer one page. To Center Page Contents Vertically 99. Click the Page Layout tab on the ribbon. 100. Click the Page Setup Dialog Box launcher. 101. Click the Layout tab to display the Layout sheet. 102. Click the Vertical alignment arrow to display the list of alignment options then click Center. 103. Click OK to accept. To Save an Existing Document with the Same File Name 104. Click the Insert tab. 105. Click the Footer button and Edit the Footer. 106. Type in STUDENT NAME and in the Close the Footer. 107. Click the Save button on your Quick Access Toolbar. Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, Print the flyer, close the document, and exit Word. 5
