Remote Support
With the X35 there is the ability to use the new remote support feature on the monitor to request assistance. You can add the Horizon support app for Android or Apple devises and also download a program from Topcon that you can use on a laptop or desktop computer. The following will guide you through the install and set up of these applications. You will be requested to create a Topcon Total Care account during the setup of the software and a good data signal will be needed at the monitor to communicate with the remote device. This will start with adding the app from either the Google Play store for Android equipped devices or from the App Store for Apple devices.
Using the search feature for the Play store or the App store type in horizon support and hit the search feature. You will be looking for the icon for Topcon Horizon Remote Support. Select this and start the install of the software.
After selecting the app you will get a screen asking you to install. Touch the install button on the screen and the app will begin to download and install. You will get a small window saying Horizon Remote Support needs access to Photos/Media/Files and Wi-Fi connection information. To continue with the install you will have to touch the ACCEPT in the small window.
During the download you will see this screen that will display the progress of the the download and install. Upon completion it will ask if you want to open the app. You can close out and go to the main menu on your device from here as well.
If you are looking to enter the app you can find the Support icon on the screen and touch it to open.
The software can also be downloaded and installed on a windows computer. Enter http://www.topconcare.com/en/agriculture/precision-ag-consoles/x35-console/ into the address bar on your browser and it will take you to the page needed.
Scroll down the page to the bottom and you will find a link for Horizon Remote Support Desktop Installer. Select the link to start the download and install process.
When you select the link a dialog box will open asking whether you wish to Open, Save or Save as. Make your selection and proceed. For this instruction the Open was selected as the usage.
Once the download is complete you will need to select the installer. Double click the installer and it will start the install.
After selecting the installer you will get a dialog box were you will have to select Run to continue with installer.
Now the Horizon Remote Support InstallShield Wizard comes up and you will need to select next. It will then take you to the second page with the disclaimer and after reading press next again.
There is a licence agrrement that you will have to read and accept to continue with the install. Once you have scrolled down to the bottom of the agreement you can select the I accept the terms in the license agreement which will then allow you to select the Next button.
After the license agreement have been accepted the install is ready to start. Press the Install in the dialog box and the install will begin.
When you get this dialog box the install wizard has completed. There is a check box that lets you launch the program when you select the finish button.
When the support is opened you will have to login using your Topcon Account. If you do not have a Topcon Account you will need touch on Create or Manage Account.
To Create an account it redirects you to the Topcon Enterprise site. Touch on the Log in to My Topcon. You will be redirected to a sign in page were you can select the CREATE ACCOUNT button. The next page that comes up will have you fill in your name and the email you want attached to your account and the password you would like to use. Once completed it will send an email to the account that you added.
Open the email that you receive and there will be a link that you can select to activate your account. The link is at the end of the email. Once activated it will redirect you back to Topcon s Enterprise site. You can exit this and go to the remote support program and log in now.
Enter your Topcon Account information and press the Login button on the screen. Once login is complete it launches the program which will look the same no matter what system you are using. To connect to the X35 you will need the desk pin that is attached to your account. It will be eight digits long.
Now that we have the remote support software set up we can enable the Remote Support on the X35. You will need to go into the settings page and touch System/Features/Wireless. In the wireless Feature you will select the wireless connection.
Select enable and then select the green check box to continue. This will bring up a wizard for Wireless Networking.
The wireless networking wizard that comes up will walk you step by step through connection to the signal that can either be a data source in the tractor cab or a cellular hotspot that has been created. After reading Step 1 you can touch the yellow arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen and it will got through steps two and three automatically while looking for signal sources. Step 4 is giving you the networks that it found so you can select the one you want to use.
Once you have your network selected touch the yellow arrow again on the bottom right corner of the wizard.
Step 5 is were you will need to enter the password to access the network you are trying to connect to. Touch on the line WIRELESS WPA2 KEY (CASE SENSITIVE). A keypad will come up on the screen allowing you to enter the password, make sure to enter it correctly as it is caps sensitive. Once entered touch the green check box on the bottom right corner of the keypad. After keypad disappears press the yellow arrow in bottom right of the wizard to continue.
Step 6 is the X35 trying to connect to the network after you entered the password. You will notice the blue progress bar go back and forth as it tries to connect. If it is unable to connect Step 7 comes up and tells you it was unsuccessful and you will have to try again. If successful Step 8 will come up saying that it is connected and you can now touch the green check box in the bottom right corner of the wizard to close the wizard.
When the wizard closes you will see that the WIRELESS CONNECTION is now Enabled on this screen.
Now that the wireless connection has been established we can set up the remote support on the X35. On the screen press the User button and next the Remote Support button. Now touch the plus sign to add the desktop pin that we created earlier or if you are getting remote support from someone else they will need to give you there pin. A dialog box will come up on the screen and if you touch on DESK PIN a on screen keypad will appear allowing you to enter the pin. Once you have the pin entered press the green check box in the bottom right corner of the keypad.
Once you have your pin entered it will display were the boxes are on the screen. You can have multiple Desk Pins and they can all be added the same way.
To call for remote support you now touch on the person you want to call and it highlights white like the picture below. You then press on the operator and it sends out for a help request. *IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT IN SOME RURAL AREAS THE CELLULAR SIGNAL THAT YOU CREATED YOUR WIRELESS CONNECTION WITH MAY NOT BE STRONG ENOUGH TO WORK PROPERLY.*
After you have sent your request for assistance this is the screen that will appear on the remote end. To accept the request you simply touch the white bar with the name of the monitor that is requesting assistance. And it will display what they are looking at on there end.
Now that we are viewing remotely we can help by checking settings and functions on the monitor. You can make changes remotely but it is recommended that you ask the operator to make settings and you can check them to make sure that they are correct.
