Purpose: Audience: Describes steps to setup and use the Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) Authenticated IUP users What is VCL? The IUP Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) is a virtual lab desktop. The virtual desktop allows any student or employee with an internet connection to access all of the applications currently available in our Public Lab desktops. What is required to use the VCL? The software required to access the Virtual Desktop is the VMware View client. The VMWare View Horizon client is supported on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1/RT and all Mac OS, IOS and Android Tablet devices. What Applications are available on the VCL? Standard Lab Applications except Adobe Creative Cloud Apps are available on the VCL. An entire listing can be found at Standard Public Lab Software. Considerations when using the VCL Saving files It is important to note that each session is deleted after you log off or the VCL session is ended. DO NOT save any items to the VCL Desktop as they will be deleted once your session is ended. All data should be saved to the H drive (Home Directory). Your H drive will appear under drives listed in My Computer as shown below.

Printing Printing is available from the VCL desktop. All local and Uniprint pay-per-print printer devices will appear on the VCL. Please locate the appropriate pay-per-print device closest to your location for printing on these printers. The printed document will stay in the payper-print queue for 30 minutes. Session timeouts and limits Sessions will be monitored for keyboard and mouse activity. The session will automatically log you off after 2hrs of no mouse/keyboard activity. Any unsaved data will be lost. You can only be connected to one session at a time. Internet Connectivity A stable Internet connection is required to maintain a session. If you lose Internet connectivity during a session, you can reconnect to the previous disconnected session if you log back into the VCL within 10 minutes. Otherwise you will start a new session and the previous session will be deleted. USB Connections You can access USB devices connected to your local computer by connecting the device to your computer once a VCL session has been fully established. The devices will then show up in the list of drives available to you. (USB 3.0 Ports are currently not supported) How do I access the VCL?
