About The Directory of Forest Products Industries is an application developed by Texas A&M Forest Service to provide users a way to search and locate companies and organizations that provide products or services relating to the forest products industry in Texas. The application consists of on-line tools that allow for easily locating a company through a criteria search using a text box and two dropdown menus or through a spatial search using mapping tools. In addition, there are tools to export the results of both types of search. Contact The Texas A&M Forest Service invites you to provide feedback on the Directory of Forest Products Directory Application. Please provide your comments and suggestions for improvement using the Contact page on the site. Help User documentation is provided online. Click the Help link available on the main page to access this user guide. Every time you make a selection and click Search, a table will display on the map, unless your search does not produce any results. The number of matching records produced by your search will display on the top left part of the application, just below the Texas A&M Forest Service logo. The results table, if any matching records are selected, will contain name and physical address of facility, county where facility is located, and main industry type and specific type of industry of the record(s) selected. You may zoom in to a specific location by using the navigation tools mentioned previously or by clicking on the table row for the specific company. To resize the table, click on the bottom right of the table and drag the resize cursor until you are satisfied with the size of the resized table. Resize Handler January 2013 Page 7

When you mouse over any point representing a facility you will see a window with detailed information about the company. Also, if the company has a website and/or a contact email, a tool tip will be displayed indicating you can click on that point. This will launch a window with links that will redirect you to the company s website, email or both. Search by Criteria You can search by any combination of the categories displayed (Company, County and Industry Type). For example, if you type the name of a company and click "Search," all the companies that have that name will appear on the map. If you type a company name and select a county, only companies with that name in that county will be selected. You can search by industry type by first selecting the main industry type (primary or secondary) and then selecting the specific industry type. You may also select only the main industry type to display records of all types of primary or secondary industries regardless of their specific industry type. For that, you need to make your selection clicking on the Select Main Industry Type and choose either Primary Industry or Secondary Industry and click Search. If you don t type or select any option and click the search button the map will display all the records in the directory. To begin a new search make your selection and press Search again. To clear the map and the selections, press the clear selections button. January 2013 Page 8

Every time you make a selection and click Search a table will be displayed on the map, unless your search did not produce any results.
