CHAPTER 1 What is WardenCam? WardenCam App is allows you to use Apple and Android devices as cloud security cameras for your home or office. It is the most cost effective, and secure method to have an video surveillance system We removed the high cost of home security, so that everyone all around the world can have a cloud based monitoring and video recording system. CHAPTER 2 Getting Started Quick Installation Guide 1. WardenCam works on both Android and ios devices. Download the App from Google Play Store and Apple itunes Store. 2. install the app on two devices (android phones/tablets, iphone/ipad... ). Set one device as camera mode and the other device as viewer mode. 3. Select which cloud service you would like to use. (ie. Google Drive or Dropbox) 4. Click sign in with Google to Start 5. WardenCam has many features such as multiple cameras, Motion detection recording and 24/7 recording. Please explore around the app. Hardware Requirements Use your spare iphones, Android phones, and tablets. Dont forget to power your device. Inexpensive older generations of android and iphones are available on ebay, craigslist, amazon, etc... and they work great! Do not buy an expensive IP camera or home surveillance system Demo Video Watch WardenCam demo video to an example setup, installation, and use cases. 5

Set Device As Modes Camera Mode Button will set the device as a Camera. When signing in, the device will enter the Camera View. You can have multiple devices set as camera mode. Place these devices around your home or office for monitoring. Viewer Mode Button will set the device as a Viewer. When signing in, the device will enter the Live View. This is the device that you carry with you, such that you can live stream and watch your home or office from anywhere. Cloud Storage Google Drive and Dropbox are free cloud storage providers up to a few GBs. This is more than enough to store months of motion detected recordings in the cloud. We respect your privacy, no videos are stored on wardencam servers, and wardencam only has access to the wardencam folder within your cloud drive. To View your cloud recordings, sign in as Viewer and select View Recordings ( See Cloud View screen). Google Drive Button will save the recordings to your Google Drive > Wardencam folder. Dropbox Button will save the recordings to your Dropbox > Wardencam folder. Signing In Google Sign in Credentials are used to link your cameras and viewers over the internet. We value your privacy; Google sign in is a trusted, safe, and secure way for you to keep your live streaming camera and recorded camera videos private. To sign in WardenCam, you can create a new account for surveillance use or sign in with an existing google account. 3.1. Main Screen 9

Sign in with a new or existing Google account Select Sign in with Google button The prompt shows your existing Google Accounts associated with your device, with an Add Account option. Select the Google Account you want associated to WardenCam. Please note Your WardenCam Camera and Viewer devices must be on the same Google Account to view live streaming, and recorded videos ios sign in Sign in the ios app is almost the same as the Android app. The difference is that when you sign in via a google account, you always need to authorize the account via google authentication webpage as least once. 10 Chapter 3. Store Purchase the App and other accessories at our online store Camera View After signing in as camera, the camera view is opened. The camera view shows the current camera view. Use this to ensure you are capturing the area you want. Motion detection button The first button (shield button) is the motion detection button. Click the button to enable motion detection. The button will turn red if motion detection is enabled. Rename button The second button is to rename the camera device. The camera default name is the device model name. Rename the camera to a useful name such as living room, front door, backyard, etc... After a new name is given, restart the camera mode to take effect. 3.2. Camera View 13

Save energy button For ios devices, The camera view has a save power button instead of the rename button. After the camera mode starts, please press the save power button to turn off the display. To exit camera view, press the cross on the top right corner. Tips 1. On android device, once the camera view is started, just press the power button to turn off the display. Avoid pressing home button. It is not recommended to run camera view in the background. 2. On ios devices, just press the save power button to turn off the display. Don t press the power or home button on ios devices, otherwise the camera hardware will be forced to close. Live View After signing in as viewer, the live view is opened. The viewer shows the live streaming from your other Wardencam connected devices that are in camera mode, The Viewer also displays the frame rate and resolution, a list of other wardencam connected devices, and control buttons**. 14 Chapter 3. Motion detection button The first button is the motion detection button. It allow the viewer to remotely turn on & off the motion detection function. If motion detection is already enabled, the button will turn red. Low light button For low light conditions, use this feature to increase constrast to see streaming images better Flashlight button Turns on the LED light on the camera device remotely. Only the rear camera has the flash light. Video Log If a Dropbox account is linked, the cloud button opens the cloud view and shows all the video logs. 3.3. Live View 15

Video logs are different from motion detection recording. Motion detection recording is triggered by a motion event; while video logs are enabled by 24/7 recording in settings. Once enabled, the camera will continue logging nonstop. Talk button Hold the audio button and talk. Release the button to send the voice to the camera device. Reverse Cam button Hold the audio button and talk. Release the button to send the voice to the camera device. Motion detection flag button This button shows the number of detected motion events. If a Dropbox or Google Drive account is linked, the motion flag button opens the cloud view and shows all the motion detection recordings. Battery icon Shows the battery power percentages and charging status. The right icon shows the device is being charged. P2P connection icon Shows the peer to peer connection status. Red exclamation mark indicates peer to peer connection has failed. Additional precautions are required if P2P connection failed. 16 Chapter 3. Navigation

Vistapoints Vistapoints shows a list of available camera devices. Clicking on a camera name to connect to a different camera device. To add another camera, just sign in with the same google account. fps, kbps, & resolution fps = frames per second kbps = kilo bytes per second resolution = image resolution in pixels Tips 1. Live video are normally streamed via peer to peer connection. No third party is involved to handle the video stream. 2. Pay extra attention to the P2P connection icon. P2P failure is normally due to mobile data carrier blocking P2P connection. 3. Depending on the image settings and camera device hardware speed, viewer may expereince a couple seconds of delay. This should not be an issue if motion detection recording is enabled. Cloud View Cloud view is opened from the Viewer screen by selecting the red flag icon motionflag icon or the video log icon videolog icon. Cloud view screen shows 24/7 video logs and motion detection recordings, depends on how the view is opened. Both the camera and viewer should be linked to the same Dropbox account! 3.4. Date and time The date and time of the event is shown in the title of the cloud view screen. Pan the video gallery left and right to search across all videos Play and pause Press the triangle play button to start the video replay. Press the button again to pause the replay. FAQ Frequently asked questions about setting up and using Wardencam features Quick Sign in If you would like to keep google account linked and not be prompted which google account to choose every login, select this. 22 Chapter 4. Customization

Sign in with Gmail If you would like to sign in with a google account not associated with your device, select this. Secure Port Enable this option when you sign in with a public network such as a company network, schoold network, store network.. Display in English Enable this control if you prefer to overwrite the system language and use English representation for non-english WardenCam Apps. During the sign in step, if you repeatedly get time out error, it will be a good idea to enable secure port in settings. 2. If you enable Auto-restart, please expect for a few minutes delay between the device reboot and camera getting ready to connect. Camera Settings Camera settings for Camera Mode Only. Use Front Camera Select to use front camera, only if the front camera is available. Video Resolution Choose a image resolution that gives the best performance. A higher resolution will demand a higher device computation resource (CPU power & memory) and a higher internet bandwidth utilization. 24 Chapter 4. Customization

Image Quality Choose low or high image quality High image quality settings will lead to a higher internet bandwidth usage. Motion Detection Sensitivity Choose high, Default, low sensitivity to trigger a motion event and record video. Disable Audio You can disable audio to get a better video quality, such as a higher fps. Save Power Some newer device has a very fast CPU which can produce a high fps. However running WardenCam on those device will keep consuming power even if the device is being charged all the time. Enable save power to reduce fps and lower the kbps. As a result, the device will not losing power while running as surveillance camera. Activate Siren Alarm Enable this to generate a siren alarm when a motion event is detected. Auto Detection Schedule To define a daily schedule to start/stop motion detection at predefine time. Send Email Alert Enable this to send an email alert to user s WardenCam sign in email address. Use email alert only if a Dropbox account is linked. Night Vision WardenCam has a night vision algorithm to enhance image visibility during low ambient light condition Default option is automatic which means WardenCam will decide when to use night vision according to the ambient light condition. You can also use Always On & Always Off 4.2. Camera Settings 25

Auto-restart Automaticly start WardenCam when a device finishes rebooting. WardenCam will sign in with the saved account information. You may want to enable this option on the camera device to improve reliability. Cloud Settings Changing the dropbox or google drive settings is only effective if the device is being used as the camera. Folder Size Sets the maximum reserved size for 24/7 video recordings. The default size is 500MB. Maximum size can be 20GB. New video log will automatically replace the oldest log. Max Saved Motion Events Sets the maximum number of saved motion detection events. The default max saved events is 500. New motion event recording will automatically replace the oldest. 24/7 Recording Enable 24/7 recording to start video log. Camera will continuously record and upload video clips to your cloud space. Enable 24/7 recording will consume lots of internet bandwidth. Notification Settings 26 Chapter 4. Customization

Motion Event Alarm Receive a motion event alarm on the viewer device immediately when a motion event is detected. You can choose beep, vibration or none. Reconnection Alarm Either the camera or the viewer may experience internet connection failure (such as WiFi disconnect, 4G signal lost) during the surveillance process. WardenCam will automatically reconnect to the server if connection is lost. You can choose beep, vibration or none when a reconnect event occurs. 4.4. Notification Settings 27

CHAPTER 5 Trial & Upgrade WardenCam is free to try and test. It come with a trial license valid for a limited number of days. Only after you completed the testing on your devices, you may upgrade to the premium version for a small & once only fee ($5.99 per US customer). Trial Start the testing with your home WiFi network. Then make sure the viewer can connect externally with another WiFi or your mobile data network. Test the Dropbox integration and video replay. If you need more time to complete your test, please feel free to email support@wardencam360.com and ask for more trial time. 29

Upgrade If google play store / apple app store is available in your country, it is the easiest way to upgrade through in app purchase. If in app purchase is not available, you can email support@wardencam360.com for alternative purchasing method. Once purchased the upgrade is linked to your google play / apple account. You can enable all devices. Viewer function is always free and not limited by a timer. If you like to provide the viewing capability to your families/friends, you can do so for free. CHAPTER 7 FAQ What is the minimum hardware requirement? ios: ios7 and above. iphone4 or later Android: 1GHz CPU + 512MB RAM, OS 2.3+. Known compatible Androids: Nexus 3+, Galaxy S2+, OnePlus. Most HTC, Motorola moto, Sony, and LG. How do I start monitoring? Install the app on two devices(android and/or ios). Sign in with the same google account on both devices. Select Camera to use the device as a camera (ie. Place this device around your home). Select Viewer to receive video and audio live streaming (ie. your daily phone). Motion detection recording and 24/7 recording can be achieved once you link your Dropbox or Google Drive account. You can also watch our demo video Why did my sign in fail? If you failed to sign in with an existing account, make sure the username and password are correct and the account is not protected by google 2-step verification. If using a public network, make sure the settings secure port option is used. You may also create a new google account dedicated for surveillance use. 37

How to start recording? Enable 24/7 recording in settings. Click Dropbox or Google Drive icon on the main screen. Authorize WardenCam to create a folder appswardencam. Link the same cloud account on both the camera and the viewer. All 24/7 video log and motion event recordings will be uploaded to this folder. How to improve image quality / FPS? There are a few options in camera settings to improve image quality and frame rate. Use a higher image resolution Enable high image quality Disable audio How to make WardenCam work with a slow network? If the internet speed is slow, reduce the video settings through the following camera options: Use a lower image resolution Enable low image quality Enable save power What is the red exclamation mark? Red exclamation mark signifies peer to peer connection is not established. Some network configuration and mobile carrier can disable the peer to peer feature for various reasons. In this case, the communication mode will change to server based. You may experience a drop in video and audio quality and a less reliable connection. At the same time, you need to keep the kbps lower than 50 kbps to maintain connection. How do I reduce the speed kbps? You can reduce kbps (network bandwidth utilization) through the following camera options. Use a lower image resolution Enable low image quality Enable save power 38 Chapter 7. FAQ

My device is losing power? A powerful phone can deliver a high fps; but also drain lots of power. If the battery is running out even when the phone is being charged, please check save power option in settings. Be sure to plug your device into the wall for continuous capturing. Why do I need a SD card or internal memory? Recordings are saved in the devices memory or SD card before uploading to the cloud. Unmounting an SD card or limiting internal memory usage will disable recording. For devices without an SD card or available internal memory, only 15 mins trial is allowed. Trial time will be restored once the SD card is installed. How to use multiple devices as cameras? Sign in with the same google account on multiple devices as cameras. On the viewer, you will see a list of available camera from the vistapoints drop down list. How to purchase the upgrade? On Android: Click the info button (2nd button on the sign in screen) Scroll down. You will see the upgrade me button On ios: Click the shuttle button (3rd button on the sign in screen) You will then see the in app purchase dialog You can purchase through google play store and ios store. Email support if the purchase is not available. Only the camera device requires the upgrade to run for 24/7. Make sure you upgrade on the camera device first. The upgrade is tied to your google play / apple account. How do I upgrade my other Android devices for free after my purchase? You only need to purchase the upgrade once for your all Android devices. The upgrade is linked to your google play account. The purchase can be recognized on all your Android devices as long as they have the same google play account in sync. It is preferred to upgrade first on the camera device instead of the viewer device. 7.9. My device is losing power? 39

How do I upgrade my other ios devices for free after my purchase? You only need to purchase the upgrade once for all your Apple devices. The upgrade is linked to your itunes account. The purchase can be recognized on all your Android devices as long as they have the same apple account in sync. It is preferred to upgrade first on the camera device instead of the viewer device. Can I transfer my purchase between ios and Android? WardenCam360 for Android and WardenCam360 for ios are two separate products and cannot transfer purchases between the two platforms. You ll have to purchase the ios and Android version of WardenCam360 separately if you plan to use it on both platforms. Once you purchase WardenCam360 for ios you can freely transfer it to any of your ios devices (ipad, iphone or ipad) as long as they are connected to the same itunes account.
