How to Log In 1. Click on this symbol: 2. Type in the website address of G-town: www.givensresidents.com. 3. Press Enter on your keyboard. 4. Go to the Login box on Home page. 5. Type your username. This is usually your first name and last name, separated by a period, for example john.smith or your first initial followed by your last name, for example, jsmith. 6. Type your password. Initially it will be the last four digits of your social security number. 7. Click on the Go button. If you ve successfully logged in, your name should now appear in login box. 3 P a g e
How to Read an Email 1. After you login, a notice will appear below your name that indicates when you have New Email. Click on this notice to open your email. You can also go to Email by clicking Email at the top of the page in the purple banner. Your email Inbox will appear. It shows a list of email messages that people have sent to you. 2. Click on the message s subject or the name of the sender in the list to read the message. Click on the Reply box to send a message back to the sender. Click on the Delete box to remove the email from your Inbox. Click on the Close box to save and close the email. 4 P a g e
How to Personalize Your Account The Personalize option allows you to customize your Touchtown website. 1. Click on Personalize Account at the top left under Welcome. Some of the things you can do: Change the zip code for the Weather that you view (Fig1) and click submit. Identify yourself using a personal picture selected from the Gallery (Fig. 1). Fig. 1 Manage your contact information for My Resident Directory (Fig. 2) and click submit. Change your Password (Fig 2) and click submit. Fig. 2 Email Program is available for free. Forward all email sent to your Touchtown email address to another email address (for example AOL or Yahoo) (Fig. 3). Import a Yahoo Address Book. Fig. 3 Choose your Favorite Links 2. Games How to Play Games & View Community Info 1. Click the Community Info menu and click the Games option. 2. Click on the name of the game you would like to play. You will be taken to an outside web site to play games. When you finish your game, you may need to log in to the Givens Resident web site again. Community Info 1. Use the Community Info menu to choose other pages, such as Staff Directory, Activities, or Photo Gallery. 2. Click on the name of the item you would like to view. 3. Move up or down the page by clicking the up or down arrows on the scroll bars (In some cases you may need to use both scroll bars to view the entire page). 4. To increase or decrease the size of the document choose the plus or minus sign. You can also print the document by clicking on the printer on the left. 6 P a g e
How to View Activities & Photos Activities 1. Click on Community Info at top of page and click on Activities. 2. A list of the day s activities will appear. To view more info about an activity, click on it. 3. Click on the Print button to print a copy of the currently displayed schedule. 4. To view tomorrow s activities, click on Next Day. To view the activities for the entire week, click on the drop-down arrow next to View by. Choose Week. Photos 1. Click on Community Info and click on Photo Gallery to view pictures in Givens Photo Gallery. 2. Click on the name of the album (on the left) that you would like to view. 3. Click on Next to view the next photo in this album or choose Thumbnails at the top of the page to view all the pictures in this album. 4. To return to the Home page, choose Home. 7 P a g e
Maintenance Requests 1. Click the Services menu at the top of the page and click the Maintenance Request option in the drop-down menu. A Maintenance Request submission form will appear. 2. Choose what type of service you need by clicking on the corresponding box(es) to the right. This will put a checkmark in the box(es). 3. If you would like you may add a description in the box below. 4. Choose whether a Maintenance person is allowed to enter your apartment without your permission. To remove a checkmark, simply click on the checkbox. 5. Although your contact information will be filled in automatically, you are welcome to make changes as necessary. 6. Choose Send to submit your request. 8 P a g e
Resident Directory Use the Community Info menu at the top of the page and click Resident Directory. To search the directory: 1. Type a resident's first or last name, or select their community. 2. You can also search for people with simila interests by typing a keyword. 3. If you d like, narrow your search further by checking a specific area of interest, such as education. 4. When you're finished, click on the Search button. 5. A list of names matching your search will appear. To view more than 25 results per page click on the Results/Page drop-down arrow. 6. Choose a person and click a link to: Send an email to this person, add them to your email address book, or view their profile. Click Edit my Information link in the top left corner of the Resident Directory page. Choose who can view your profile (either Everyone at Givens Estates or Nobody, keep my profile private. The other two choices do not work). Enter information into any or all of the text boxes. To choose a new picture file, click Change Picture link under your current photo and Browse new picture file. Choose Save to save changes. 9 P a g e
