Editing Drupal 7 Sites June 2013 Basic page editing To begin editing, log in by clicking Login at the bottom of the homepage Username Password Navigate to the page you want to edit Click the Edit tab at top of page Look for the Body area Enter text in the Body area, and use the editing toolbar to format fonts, size, boldness, links, and photos 1 1 Scroll to bottom of page and click Save (you can Preview but remember to Save afterwards). Once you Save any update or change it is automatically live on your site. Continue to edit as needed

Adding links Navigate to the page you want to link to and copy its URL from the browser s address bar. Back on your library s website, from the Body portion of the Edit page, find or enter the text you want to make into a link. Highlight the text that you want to link. 2 2 Click the Insert/edit link icon: The following Insert/Edit Link window will appear:

Paste your URL into the blank space next to Link URL (include http://www etc. if that is part of the address). If you want the link to open in a new window or tab, choose open in new window (_blank) from the Target dropdown. 3 3 Click Insert. The text you selected to link will appear underlined and in blue on your Edit page.

Click Save at the bottom of the page to save your links. Adding email links Selecting a linked email address allows some users to open a blank email addressed to that email address. Follow the steps above for creating a link to another website, but rather than pasting a URL into the Link URL field, enter mailto:[email address] as shown below: 4 4

Linking to files For text- based documents, we recommend that you post PDF files on your site for optimum accessibility. The maximum file size you may upload is 2 MB, but the files you post should typically be considerably smaller than that. First, save the file you want to link to in an accessible spot on your computer. Go to the page on your library s website where you want to post the file. From the Body portion of the Edit page, find or enter the text you want to make into a link to the file. Highlight the text that you want to link. 5 5 Click the Insert/Edit Link icon: The Insert/Edit Link window will appear:

Click the Browse icon to access your site s File Browser. The File Browser contains saved files associated with your site. 6 6 From the left side of the new File Browser window under Navigation, select the folder in which to save your file. You will find the saved file on your computer. Click Upload near the top of the window.

A new box will appear below the Upload button. Click the Choose file button to find the file saved on your computer 7 7 A new Open window will appear. Search your computer for the file you want to link to. Click Open at the bottom of the window after you select your file.

Your file s name will appear in the File field back in the File Browser window. 8 8 Click Upload.

Your file will be added to the folder you selected earlier, and it will be selected in the list. Close the small Upload window using the x in the upper right. 9 9 Click Insert file to link to the selected file.

You will see the Insert/Edit Link window again with information about your file entered. Click Insert to return to the edit page. 10 10 The text you selected to link will appear underlined and in blue on your Edit page.

Click Save at the bottom of the page to save your changes. 11 11

Displaying images Save your image to an easily- retrievable place on your computer. We recommend saving images as JPEG files at 72 dpi and under 50 kb. From the Edit page, place your cursor where you want to insert an image. Click the Insert/Edit Image button. 12 12 From the Insert/Edit Image window, click the Browse icon.

From the left side of the new File Browser window, select the folder in which to save your image file. You will find the image file on your computer and save to this collection of files associated with your website. 13 13 Click Upload near the top of the window.

A set of options will appear below. Click the Choose File button. 14 14 A new Open window will appear. Search your computer for the image file you want to insert. Click Open near the bottom of the window after you select your file.

Your file s name will appear in the File field back in the File Browser. Click Upload. 15 15 Your image file will be added to the folder you selected earlier, and it will be selected in the list. Close the small Upload window using the x in the upper right.

Click Insert file to display the selected image file. 16 16 You will return to the Insert/Edit Image window with your image s unique URL in the Image URL filed and an image preview in the Preview pane.

On the General tab, give your image a description and title. These are particularly useful for visually impaired visitors using screen readers. 17 17 From the Appearance and Advanced tabs, you can adjust the size, border, and alignment of your image. o o o o Alignment choose where you want your image to appear (usually right or left) If your image is too large or small, you can adjust the dimensions If you want some space left around it, add this in the Vertical or Horizontal space boxes If you want a border around the image, add a number here. (1 is thinnest)

Click Insert to return to the Edit page after you have entered any applicable specifications. 18 18

Click Save at the bottom of the page to save your images. 19 19 To edit your image, select it in the Body section of the Edit page. Click the Insert/Edit Image icon to view and make changes on the Insert/Edit Image window. To remove an image: Click Edit Scroll down to the Body area Click on the image (it is highlighted) Click your delete key OR the Insert/Edit Image icon Insert. and remove the Image URL then click
