Install Instructions 1. Plug the AutoCal into the truck s OBDII using supplied cables. 2. Turn the key to the RUN position, do not start the truck. 3. Toggle down using the right (skull) button until you see Tuning Tool. Press the OK button (skull) in the center of the AutoCal.. 4. Toggle down to Program Full press OK. 5. Toggle down to Unlock press OK the screen will say Checking to 100%. 6. It will ask if you want to LICENSES ECU NOW press OK. 7. It will now ask Are you sure press OK. 8. The AutoCal should now say Please Wait. Erasing Flashing with a percentage (%) below it. The flashing process takes approximately 10 minutes. 9. When the flashing has finished, the AutoCal will prompt you to turn the ignition off now! Turn the key off and press OK. A countdown will appear. Once the countdown has finished you have now unlocked your PCM. DO NOT START YOUR TRUCK. 10. The AutoCal will be on the Program Full screen. Press OK. 11. Turn the key to the RUN position, do not start the truck. 12. Toggle down to the pre-loaded tune (Default tune is ECOTOW) press OK. 13. The screen will say Checking 0-100% Followed by Erasing Flashing with a percentage % below it. This process take approximately 13 minutes. 14. When the flashing has finished, the AutoCal will prompt you to turn the ignition off now! Turn the key off and press OK. Once the countdown has completed you have now successfully loaded your new tune onto your truck, you may turn the key to the run position and start the truck!
How to change tunes (To be able to change tunes you will have to have access to a computer that is running windows operating system) 1. Plug both PPEI USB Flash drive and AutoCal into your computer. 2. The flash drive will automatically open up on your desktop with all your tunes including EFILive V8 software. Double click on EFILive V8 Setup (at the bottom). 3. A Pop-up for User Account Control will then come up asking "Do you want to allow EFILive V8 Scan and Tune to make changes to this computer". Click Yes. 4. EFIlive Scan and Tune Setup will then open up to their Installer. Click Next. 5. EFILive Licenses Agreement will prompt you to read the following document carefully. Select check box "I agree to the terms of this licenses agreement". Click Next to proceed to the next step of the installation of EFILive Scan and Tune. 6. EFILive Installation Folder will be the next step in the install. Click Next for allowing the Software to be installed to "c:\program Files (x86)\efilive". 7. EFILive Shortcut Folder will then want you to select if you want the V8 Scan and Tune to be accessible by all users or only the current user. Click Next. 8. Ready to install "you are now ready to install EFILive Scan and Tune V8 Click Next.
9. EFILive will then proceed to install Scan and Tune to your desktop. 10. EFILive Scan and Tune "Installation Successful". Click Finish. 11. EFILive Scan and Tune V8 will be located on your desktop. Double Click EFILive Scan and Tune Icon. 12. Once opened the "tip of the day" will pop up. You may click through and view tips or you can close out of the "tip of the day". Click the red X for close to proceed to changing tunes. 13. Once you re in Scan and tune it will have a list of options down the left side. F2: Scan F3: Tune F4: OBD F5: BBX "Double click here" F6: Devices F7: Licenses F8: Tools 14. In the BBX Tab it will have more options down the left side of the page. F2: Scan F3: Tune F4: Switch F5: DTC's F6: Quick Setup "Click here" 15. To switch out tunes on your AutoCal. Click "Open Quick Setup". 16. A Quick Setup File will then pop up. Locate the "PPEI USB" also known as flash drive with your tunes.
17. Tunes 1-5 will be on the flash drive. 1. STOCK 2. ECONOMY 30HP 3. ECOTOW 65HP 4. STREET 100HP 5. MAXXX 130HP 18. Select which tune you desire to then load onto the AutoCal. Double click on the tune you have chosen to load onto the AutoCal. Click "Program Quick Setup". A "Confirm" box will pop up asking you the following. "Re-configure FlashScan/AutoCal with the currently selected Quick Setup options? Existing files on FlashScan/AutoCal may be overwritten during this process. Continue?" Click "Yes". 19. A progress bar will appear. (Erasing and copying of the tunes will have a loading bar. Once the loading bar is complete the tunes have now successfully been switched on the AutoCal). 20. Disconnect the AutoCal from the computer and proceed to flashing the truck. 21. Plug the AutoCal into the truck s OBDII using supplied cables.
22. Turn the key to the RUN position, do not start the truck. 23. Toggle down using the right (skull) button until you see Tuning Tool. Press the OK button (skull) in the center of the AutoCal.. 24. Toggle down to Program Full press OK. 25. Toggle down until you have found your desired tune that you are wanting to load onto the truck and press OK. 26. The screen will say Checking 0-100% Followed by Erasing Flashing with a percentage % below it. This process take approximately 13 minutes. 27. When the flashing has finished, the AutoCal will prompt you to turn the ignition off now! Turn the key off and press OK. Once the countdown has completed you have now successfully loaded your new tune onto your truck, you may turn the key to the run position and start the truck! How to check codes without code reader How to check the DTCs on your Cummins without using a code reader. Put the key in the ignition with doors closed. Cycle the key THREE times from the OFF position to the RUN position without cranking the engine. Leave in the RUN position on the THIRD cycle. Note: The RUN position is TWO clicks while the ACCESSORY position is only ONE click. Example: KEY IN (OFF) RUN OFF RUN OFF RUN If there are any DTCs present, they will be displayed one at a time on the odometer When all codes have been displayed, or there are no codes, the odometer will read DONE
How to clear codes without code reader How to clear the DTCs (check engine light) on your Cummins without using a code reader. NOTE: Depending on which flash is on your PCM, there is a chance that this procedure will not work. In that case, it is best to use an XRT, Black Maxx, or OBD-II scanner to clear the codes. Put the key in the ignition with doors closed. Cycle the key FIVE times from the OFF position to the RUN position without cranking the engine. Leave in the RUN position on the FIFTH cycle. Note: The RUN position is TWO clicks while the ACCESSORY position is only ONE click. *Example: KEY IN (OFF) RUN OFF RUN OFF RUN OFF RUN OFF RUN This will clear any DTCs that are currently active or stored in the PCM. How to clear Oil Change Required message How to clear Oil Change Required message How to clear the Oil Change Required message on the overhead console in your Cummins. Put the key in the ignition with doors closed Turn the key to the RUN position without cranking the engine Press the ACCELERATOR pedal to the floor THREE times within 10 seconds Turn the key to the OFF/LOCK position The Oil Change Required message should no longer appear. If it does, you may need to repeat the procedure.
How to clear the Perform Service message on the overhead console in your Cummins. Put the key in the ignition with doors closed Turn the key to the RUN position without cranking the engine Press and release the BRAKE pedal TWO times Press the ACCELERATOR pedal to the floor slowly TWO times within 10 seconds Turn the key to the OFF/LOCK position The Perform Service message should no longer appear. If it does, you may need to repeat the procedure.
