Banner INB: Student (Adjustments) Targets, Waivers and Substitutions (SMASADJ) The Student Targets, Waivers and Substitution (SMASADJ) form allows a student s course (adjustments) waivers and substitutions history to be recorded. The ability to waive or substitute courses is permission-based; Chairs and Program Coordinators and anyone named as their designee should be communicated to the Registrar s Office at unhregistrar@newhaven.edu. PROCEDURES FOR WAIVING AND SUBSTITUTION COURSES IN BANNER 1. Go to https://insideunh.newhaven.edu 2. Log into insideunh with your UNH network username and password. 3. Click on the yellow B (INB) icon on the right side of the menu bar. 4. In the Go To area, enter the form name, SMASADJ, and press the Enter key. 5. Enter the student ID number and press the Enter key or press the Tab key to get to the Name field and search for the student by entering the student s last name, first name. You can use % as a wild card to replace any unknown characters. The wildcard symbols can be used with any combination of letters in any order. Example: ma%, l% returns a list of all students that have a last name beginning with Ma and a first name beginning with L. To get these results All entries that contain ma All entries that begin with ma All entries that end with ma Enter these criteria %ma% ma% %ma 6. Press Enter. If only one student s name matches the search criteria, that student s ID and name will be entered into the form. If more than one student s name matches the search criteria, the ID and Name Extended Search window appears. Click on the Person Search Detail icon to open the Person Search (SOAIDEN) results.

7. In the search results list, double-click on the appropriate student ID to select that student. 8. The student ID and name will be entered in the SMASADJ form. 9. If you know the Term Code, you can enter it into the Term field. If not, click on the arrow next to the Term field to display the Term Codes. Select the term for which the Waiver or Substitution will apply. Click OK. 10. The term will be entered into the Term field. 11. Click the Next Block icon on the Toolbar or Ctrl-Page Down to move to the next field. 12. If the student has not yet had any waivers or substitutions applied, a warning box will appear so that you can add the student to the Adjustment Library. 13. Click Add.

14. Click on the Save icon or press the F10 key. Your username is associated with the change. The student is added to the list. 15. Click on the on the Toolbar to exit the library screen. SUBSTITUTIONS Email the Registrar s Office unhregistrar@newhaven.edu if you have any Substitution or Waiver questions or 203.932.7309. Before entering a Substitution, complete steps 1-15 then complete steps 16-21. 16. To enter a course substitution, click on the icon next to Substitutions 17. On the Substitutions screen, if you know the 4-letter Banner Subject code and the 4-digit Banner Course Number of the required course enter the information in the Requirements section OR, if you don t know the codes, click on the arrow under Subject and select the appropriate code and click OK. Then click the arrow under Course and select the appropriate code. 18. Now enter the Subject code and Course Number for the course that will be allowed as a substitution in the Substitutions section.

19. Under Action, click on the arrow and select DS (Department Substitution) or type DS in the box. DO NOT enter anything under Credits. Optional: To limit the substitution to be valid only for a particular program, click the Next Block icon on the Toolbar or Ctrl-Page Down to move to the next field under Valid Programs: Programs, click on the arrow under Programs and choose View Existing Programs, and chose the program and click Return. The substitution will not apply to any other program.

Please note that all restrictions (such as Class Year, Field of Study and Capacity, etc.) still apply, therefore, it may be necessary to add override codes by using the SFASRPO form. 20. Click on the Save icon or press the F10 key to apply the Substitution and save the change. Your username is associated with the change. 21. To exit the form and return to the General Menu, click the Exit icon in the Toolbar. To remove or revoke a substitution, select the substitution and click the Remove Record icon Toolbar, then click the Save icon. in the

WAIVERS Before entering a Waiver, complete steps 1-15 then complete steps 22-24 (skip 16-21). Email the Registrar s Office unhregistrar@newhaven.edu if you have any Substitution or Waiver questions or 203.932.7309. 22. To enter a course waiver, click on the icon next to Waivers On the Waivers screen, if you know the 4-letter Banner Subject code and the 4-digit Banner Course Number of the course you want to waive, enter the information, OR, if you don t know the codes, click on the arrow under Subject and select the appropriate code and click OK. Then click the arrow under Course and select the appropriate code. Action Code WN Waived/Without Credit WC Waived/With Credit CE Credit Exam Description Waives the required course with no credit student does not have to take the required course but must take another course to fulfill the amount of program credits Waives the required course student does not have to take the required course and gets the same amount of credits for that course (as if they actually earned credits). Sometimes given for civil service or lifelong learning. Waives the required course because the student passed an exam given in place of taking course and gets the same amount of credits for that course (as if they actually earned credits). Optional: To limit the substitution to be valid only for a particular program, click the Next Block icon on the Toolbar or Ctrl-Page Down to move to the next field under Valid Programs: Programs, click on the arrow under Programs and choose View Existing Programs, and chose the program and click Return. The substitution will not apply to any other program. 23. Click on the Save icon or press the F10 key to apply the Waiver and save the change. Your username is associated with the change. 24. To exit the form and return to the General Menu, click the Exit icon in the Toolbar.
