Panopto 5.5 Release Notes Panopto 5.5.0 Release Notes Headline features Canvas Gradebook Integration Panopto sessions can now be added as assignments in the Canvas LMS, and students scores on Panopto quizzes within the session will be reported as the grades to the Canvas gradebook. The RTMP Relay feature is now generally available. Hardware encoders that output RTMP can now be directed at your Panopto site to create a live webcast for Panopto viewers and will automatically be converted into a video-on-demand session upon completion. Interactive Viewer Cleaned up the UI layout of the viewer s header bar by unifying text size and color. The order of the folder name and session name were changed to align with web conventions for breadcrumb navigation. The session date and username were removed. Fixed a problem on Firefox where some sessions would intermittently start playing without audio.

As an improvement from the beta of this feature, ContentItem now fully supports users from consolidated identity providers. Modified the PublicAPI ISessionManagement.GetCreatorFolderInfoList to exclude PersonalFolders to ensure user s personal folders cannot be used for course provisioning. Fixed a problem where LTI links from D2L would occasionally return an error code when clicked by specific users. Fixed a problem where setting the default identity provider could sometimes fail. Added an audit log entry whenever IDP settings are adjusted or IDPs are deleted. Modified the default setting for Personal Folders to Creators. Added a link to the IDP page to show admins how to reveal all providers for sign-in testing, even hidden providers. Processing The processing of UCS uploads has been modified to better handle sessions with very large numbers of streams, allowing them to consistently process successfully. Settings changes Inaccessible parent folders When a user has access to subfolder, but not to its parents, all inaccessible parent folder names will be visible. In Panopto 5.4, these inaccessible parents would be displayed as Private. Personal folders Personal folders for Creators (first introduced in Panopto 5.2) will be enabled for all sites and identity providers. This setting can be disabled by administrators. Quizzes Interactive video quizzing (introduced in Panopto 5.3) will be enabled for all sites and can be disabled by administrators. User names in discussions Panopto 5.3 added a new setting called DisplayFullNamesInDiscussion that shows user names (e.g. John Doe ) in discussions rather than the user key (e.g. canvas/jdoe17 ) to improve discussion readability. All Panopto sites will be set to display user names in discussions, and administrators may choose to disable this setting. Panopto for Windows Added the capability to delete recordings after automatic upload. This is controlled by a setting, defaults to off. Added support for NV12 pixel format The post-recording dialog will now automatically close and upload the session after one minute. (Previously was five minutes.) Service Updates Service update 2017-08-18 Fixed an issue where the Browse section of the navigational bar would sometimes show a 'spinner' when nothing was loading. Fixed an issue where the navigational bar did not properly remember the expand/collapse state of on page load when all sections were last collapsed. Fixed an issue where, in rare circumstances, Panopto for Windows could hang when capturing slide information from Powerpoint or when disconnecting from Powerpoint at the end of a recording.
