1. Introduction Please read this Release Note carefully prior to installation and use of the software. This Release provides application download and flashing capability for the OMAP 16xx, 1710 and 242x Software Development Platforms. Note: Please always check extranet or contact your local TI sales representative for the latest tools releases. 1.1. OST Tools New Features 1.1.1. Changes from OST Tools version 2.4 to version 2.5 Release Apart from supporting 2.4Eng Release features, OST Tools 2.5 Release has the following changes: Support for downloading, flashing and uploading from Sibley Flash. Support for downloading, flashing and uploading from ONENand Flash. Support for Symbian HRP Platform. Using Image Formatting Tool 3.2.1, support for Symbian HRP ONENand Flash GP signing The features added in OST Tools 2.4 Release User needs to install encryption library Open SSL separately to use the signing feature of OSTTools. Refer Section 2.1.2 for details. Fixed OST Host freeze issue while downloading big images using USB interface. Using Image Formatting Tool 3.2, Fix for Initial SW Entry point in X-LOADER and fix for the GP device signing issue for 16xx/17xx platforms. RMR Support is validated on 2420 HS platforms. Fixed the R&D certificate "Debug Mode" bits not getting updated issue. Fix for updating existing R&D certificates. Support for contiguous 64MB SDRAM configuration in 2420 ES2.x platforms. Lists the available COM ports (up to 6) by scanning the available COM ports for interface. Signing library ift.dll is loaded dynamically only when signing features is used. Installation 2.1. Minimum System Requirements 2.1.1. Hardware This Release requires: IBM compatible host development PC running Microsoft Windows 2000 COM1 port User must have administrative privileges on this machine. 9-pin null modem serial cable. 2.1.2. Software IFT requires the following encryption routines: SHA1 and RSA. These are not included in this release. For testing purposes, TI has used encryption libraries from the Open SSL project (http://www.openssl.org/). Open SSL version 0.9.7g was used to test this release of IFT. (Open SSL library package can be obtained from the URL: http://www.slproweb.com/products/win32openssl.html. Once Open SSL is installed, Open SSL DLLs will be available under WINNT\System32\ standard path and user need not copy it to OSTTools directory). 2.1.3.
