How to troubleshoot if a compact disc (CD) will not play. IMPORTANT: If using a CD-R or CD-RW disc, check the specifications of the CD player to verify that this media is supported. Sony cannot guarantee playback when using CD-R or CD-RW discs recorded by a disc burner. Be sure to use commercially-produced discs when following the troubleshooting steps below. If model-specific information is needed, refer to the instructions supplied with the product. Check that the disc has been inserted correctly with the label side up. 1. Clean the disc using a soft, dry cloth. WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. Do not use solvents such as benzene, thinner, commercially available cleaners, or antistatic spray intended for vinyl records. These products can damage the disc. 2. Handling the disc by the outer edge and not touching the surface, reinsert the disc and then press the PLAY button to see if the disc will play. NOTE: Only press the PLAY button once. If the button is pressed more than once, the disc may stop playing. If this button is inoperable, service may be required.

3. For disc players with a HOLD switch, make sure that the switch is set to the OFF position. 4. Attempt to play a couple of different store-bought discs. NOTE: If the issue does not occur when playing the newly, inserted discs, the previous disc is faulty. Otherwise, continue with the troubleshooting steps. 5. If applicable, reset the CD player. NOTE: If your model unit does not have a RESET button or steps to reset the memory, unplug the power cord (and/or remove any batteries) and let the unit sit for a couple of minutes, then reconnect the power back to the unit. 6. If the disc still will not play, depending on the location of your CD player, the issue can also be caused by condensation. Open the disc compartment and let the unit sit for about one hour to allow any condensation to dissipate. 7. If the unit does not play any of the discs, the laser pick up may be dirty. IMPORTANT: CD/DVD player lens cleaners are not recommended. These lenses should be cleaned by a factory-trained technician only. If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required. PUSH POWER is displayed in the LCD. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if a PROTECT or PUSH POWER error is displayed. 1. Turn off the system. 2. Ensure the unit is place on a flat solid surface. 3. Unplug the AC power cord. 4. Disconnect any components, including the speakers, from the back of the system. 5. Plug in the AC power cord. 6. Turn on the system. NOTES: o o o If the unit does not display PROTECT or PUSH POWER with the external components disconnected, one of the connected devices or speakers is causing this error. If the unit still displays PROTECT or PUSH POWER with no components connected, refer to the user guide to reset the unit to the factory settings. If the unit still displays PROTECT or PUSH POWER after performing the troubleshooting steps and system reset, service will be required.

What is One-touch function? The One-touch function by Sony incorporates Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. By using Sony devices with the One-touch function, users can easily and instantly register and pair their Bluetooth devices to play music and more without the need for any set-up. The One-touch function is a reference to this instant connection between devices, and the One-touch listening is a reference to the music playback feature made possible across an array of one-touch enabled devices. One-touch listening: With One-touch listening, you just have to touch your smartphone or tablet for a couple of seconds on the listening device through which you want to play music, or stream other audio content. Listening devices can, for example, be wireless speakers or wireless headphones. The devices connect automatically. One-touch listening uses NFC and Bluetooth to connect and stream music, so your smartphone, tablet and the listening device (speakers or headphones, etc.) must support NFC and Bluetooth. With one-touch listening, you can listen to content from, for example, the WALKMAN player, the YouTube app, Internet-radio apps such as TuneIn Radio, or audio book apps. How to resolve when the unit does not work properly with the battery? The unit does not work properly with the battery. Follow these steps and use the battery in the right way. Confirm whether to be installed the battery in a correct direction. The batteries might be run out. Replace them all with new ones. The Manganese batteries might be used. Replace them all with AAA/R03 alkaline battery or NH-AAA rechargeable battery. What is an NFC compatible smartphone? The NFC compatible smartphones are smartphones with built-in Near Field Communication (NFC) function. These smartphones have Android 2.3.3 operating system or newer. Look for the NFC logo on the smartphone or mobile device to ensure that it is NFC compatible. NOTES:

The NFC function of Apple ios devices is not compatible with one-touch connection. (As of June, 2017) NFC function is not compatible on smartphones with Android 3. x operating system. When you use the smartphone running Android OS prior to 4.1, installing the NFC Easy Connect app is required. To download the NFC Easy Connect app, go to the download page on Google Play or scan the two-dimensional barcode below using a code reader or scanner app. (NFC Easy Connect may not be available in some countries and/or regions.) NOTE: Some smartphones with the Android 4.0 operating system may already have an app installed that has similar functions. Refer to the manual supplied with the smartphone or mobile device for additional details. After updating to ios7 on my Apple device, the MENU, UP, DOWN, and ENTER buttons do not work on the unit and/or remote. The MENU, UP, DOWN, and ENTER button on the main unit and/or on the supplied remote control will only work with Apple devices running ios6. To operate your Sony device with an Apple device with ios7 installed, please use the screen on your Apple device. NOTE: Depending on your model, you may still be able to use the remote for these functions. Playing music from your smartphone on another device using "Throw" (Bluetooth)

IMPORTANT: Not all devises have Throw (Bluetooth) feature. For details, refer to the manual supplied with the product. Just simply by tapping on the throw icon, you can stream music on your smartphone(*) to your Bluetooth enabled listening devices. * Although only smartphones are mentioned in the descriptions, the descriptions apply also to tablets. NOTE: 1. Turn on the Bluetooth function of the listening device. 2. Turn on the Bluetooth function of your smartphone. 3. From the Home screen of your smartphone, tap, then find and tap (WALKMAN). 4. Tap [My music] to open the music library. 5. Select a music category and browse to the track that you want to share. 6. Tap (Throw) and select the listening device to share your content with, then tap the track. The Bluetooth connection is established and the track plays on the selected listening device. To disconnect from the listening device, tap (Throw) and select [My phone]. The track stops playing on the listening device but continues playing on your smartphone. What is NFC? Near Field Communication (NFC) is a standards-based connectivity technology that makes it more convenient to make transactions, exchange digital content and connect devices. It is a technology enabling short-range wireless communication between various devices which helps prevent unauthorized communication. It is activated by bringing two NFC devices together with a maximum reading distance of about one centimeter. Using NFC you can transfer information between your phone and other NFC devices, such as IC tags, phones and other mobile devices, payment devices and home audio and video devices. For example, you can share web addresses, contacts, phone numbers, music tracks, videos or photos.

For more information visit the NFC Forum website. NOTES: Some devices will automatically turn on and be automatically paired just by using the NFC technology. To check whether or not your device is compatible with NFC, refer to the manual. Are Apple iphones mobile device compatible with the NFC feature? Current Apple iphone mobile device and other Apple ios devices do not support the Near Field Communication (NFC) feature. Look for the NFC logo on a Smartphones or mobile device to ensure that it is NFC compatible.
