Security, Auditability, and Control, Version 6.1 uses the security and auditability features of the AIX Version 4 or AIX 5L Version 5.1. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. Ordering Information is a client server product which has two charge units: server install and concurrent users. The server install and users are available in fixed order quantities of one. Ordering Notes Charges for the base, Version 6.1 (program), are based on concurrent users. A User is defined as a person. You must purchase a User authorization for every concurrent User that will directly or indirectly access and use the program. Under this license, you may allow multiple concurrent Users, up to the number of User authorizations acquired, to access and use the program either directly or indirectly (such as by accessing the program via an intermediate machine or piece of software). As an example, if a multiplexing program or application server (for example, Transaction Server, DB2 ) connects to the providing access on behalf of multiple concurrent Users, then one authorization for each of these multiple concurrent Users is required. In addition, a User authorization is required for each active upstream or downstream connection established to the program for application programs that are not associated with actual users (for example, those that utilize the program s services such as TN3270, SNA (APPN, SNA APIs), and AnyNet clients). In an APPN environment, a connection is an active link to an adjacent nodes. Passport Advantage Tradeup Notes: Tradeups to, Version 6.1 are available from any IBM or non-ibm (competitive offering) SNA gateway or communications server product. The following upgrade information applies: The, Version 6.1 includes authorization for 1 concurrent user. When trading up from a usage-based product, for example, Windows NT, or OS/2 Warp, you are authorized to acquire the equivalent number of users at a reduced price by specifying the concurrent user tradeup part number. When trading up from a product that is priced based on sessions, such as Version 4.X, or SNA Client Access for AIX Version 1.X, the customer is eligible for a number of concurrent user tradeups equal to the actual number of concurrent users being supported on the prior product. For example, if the customer has licensed 50 sessions on a previous product, and actually supports 25 concurrent users, each running 2 sessions, they would purchase a quantity of 25 of the concurrent user tradeup part numbers with Communications Server for AIX Version 6.1. This would also apply to customers trading up from prior versions of Communications Server for AIX with the Unlimited Sessions feature. These customers should also determine the actual number of concurrent users being supported and purchase an equivalent number of concurrent user tradeups. For example, a customer with the Unlimited Sessions feature who has 50 users each running 4 sessions would only need to purchase a quantity of 50 of the user tradeup part number to support their equivalent user environment. New and additional users must be acquired at the full price using the concurrent user part number. When trading up from a non usage-based product, you are not entitled to any concurrent user tradeups. All users are considered as new users and must be acquired at the full price. Ordering Information for Program Numbers (Orders from IBM), V6.1: licenses will be accepted now. Orders for new Shipments will begin on the planned availability date. Basic License: To order, specify the type model number and the one-time charge (OTC) feature number. The OTC for includes the authorization for one concurrent user. In addition, for application programs that are not associated with actual users, but still utilize Communications Server services such as TN3270, SNA (APPN, DLUR, SNA APIs), and AnyNet clients, a User authorization is required for each upstream or downstream connection established to the Communications Server.
