Connection to Android Pre-Requisites: You MUST have internet connectivity during reading and for downloading the tuned files to your device. Internet connection is not required during the writing process. You will need to download an APP to use this device, please see instructions which follow. MPF Interface uses the Android Accessory mode to connect to your mobile phone/tablet. USB Accessory mode is supported from Android version 4.0 Please check your device user manual to be sure Accessory mode is supported natively, without any adapter cable. Usually, if you connect your device with the same cable you use to connect the Phone with PC it will work. Be sure to use only our black adapter cable connected to the DPF interface like in the below picture. If you try to use another one it is possible that the accessory mode will not work correctly. You will need to open up the Google Play store on your Android device. 2
Now you will need to search for the DroidPersonalFlasher app. This is a free to download app and should not take long to download, dependent upon internet connection. Connection: Connect the MPF interface to the OBD2 Port on the car; the blue led will start blinking. Now you can connect your phone/tablet, if the accessory mode works fine you will see on the Android notification area: After approximately 1 second another message will appear to confirm the connection with accessory mode: As soon as connection is established, the Android application will start automatically showing the interface info as you can see below. 3
Support for USB accessories varies a lot in different Android versions and manufacturers. If you are using a custom firmware on your device, be sure it supports MTP (media device) as shown below. This is because some support files may be missing; if they are there will be no way to connect it successfully. However we have tested some Cyanogen-mod CM11 custom firmware and those work fine with our devices. Some settings can affect USB accessory mode connection too: 4
If you are a developer and your mobile has USB Debugging enabled on in the developer options, some phones/tablet don't enable accessory mode. In this case just turn it off from settings. Droid Personal Flasher Use As soon as the interface has successfully connected to your device you will see the MPF application automatically open. One of the first operations is to register the My Personal Flasher and input any missing details. As soon as you enter into the Flash ECU menu for the first time, the software will ask you for the car's Make; this is important as you need to select the correct make of car. After the Make selection, the interface firmware will be updated in order to work with the car. If you selected the wrong Make, just press back and enter the flash ECU menu again. 5
Before any communication with the vehicle is attempted please make sure that the ignition is fully on with the engine NOT running and all auxiliary systems are turned off, such as Air-Con lights, radio etc. ID: Will show the ECU info, calibration numbers and VIN. The first time you use the MPF it will identify the ECU model of your car; (only if it's supported) it will link your interface to the car's VIN number. As soon as the Interface is initialized you will be allowed to press the READ button. For the first ID it's mandatory to have internet connection, the interface initialization and protocol selection is made on our internet servers. READ: Will read your ECU internal firmware/calibration data, it can take several minutes. When reading is completed, the file will be uploaded automatically to your Tuner. WRITE: Buttons from 1 to 5 relate to the files you can write to the car. The files are downloaded to your interface by Viezu Technologies Ltd, you will see the buttons enabled as soon as file is present and ready to be flashed. Remember: You will need internet connection in order to receive the mod files You can flash the files only if the file calibration numbers match the one present on the ID button. This means that you cannot write your mod files to another car similar to yours. The device is locked to your chassis number. 6
Dealer update If your car is updated with a newer software number, the My Personal Flasher doesn't allow you to flash the old files, since they are incompatible with the ECU current software and will crash ECU. It's mandatory to flash the original file to the car before taking your car to the dealer for any kind of work. Once the original file has been uploaded back to the vehicle, the tuner is allowed to delete all the files with the old calibration numbers and you are allowed to read the new original file again. This is only necessary if the vehicle has received a software update. If the tuner doesn't delete all the files with the old calibration numbers, you will not be allowed to read again the car after the update, and the only solution is to virgin the interface from tuner desktop. 7
