Getting started with the ISIS Community Portal- Creating an ISIS account- 1. In your web browser navigate to the ISIS portal site- http://www.isis.org and click Register in the upper right corner. If you think you may already have an account, choose Forgot Password to have your password sent to your email account. 2. Fill out the Registration to ISIS Community Portal form. The following text is provided to the user on the Registration page: Please note: We have added an additional layer of security and control to our Web site. When you register, the ISIS representative in your institution will receive an e-mail asking for verification that you are a member of their team; as soon as your representative approves your request, you will be granted access. (If you are an ISIS representative and you haven t received information on assigning new passwords, please contact ISIS support at support@isis.org.) Because there may be a delay in receiving your new password, we will continue to support the old ISIS Web site (http://oldweb.isis.org) for a few months to give all members time to set up new passwords. 1 P a g e

3. You will see a Thank you for Registering for the ISIS Community Portal page. The following text is provided on this Registration Succeeded page: Thank you First Last for registering for the ISIS Community Portal! Please check your email and confirm the address you registered with ISIS. myemail@myzoo.org NOTE: Once you have confirmed that this email address is valid, a request will automatically be delivered to the Institution Administrator responsible for YOUR MNEMONIC,once they have approved your affiliation request, you will receive an email that provides further direction. If you need further assistance with your Portal account or have any other questions, please send an email along with your questions to ISIS Support: support@isis.org Thank you, ISIS Portal Administrator You are instructed to check your email to confirm that the email address you registered is valid. Click on the approve link in this email as soon as possible. Once you have confirmed your email, the administrator of your Institution will automatically get a request to approve your affiliation request. Once this request has been approved, you will receive an email welcoming you to the Portal. Click on this link in this welcome email to proceed to the My Site set up page. Customizing My Site for ISIS Community Portal Use- 4. Enter the user name and password you created above to log in. You can check Sign me in automatically if you re on a private computer and you want avoid having to sign in in the future. *If you forgot our password, browse to: https://www.isis.org/fba/public/passwordrecovery.aspx for password resetting assistance. 3 P a g e
5. At this point your My Site will be created. Your My Site will house your member profile that others will use to connect with you. 6. After a few seconds your My Site page will appear. To customize your Member Profile, click Details in the column on the left. 4 P a g e
7. Now you can fill in the Member Profile form. Please provide as much detail as possible. This should be information related to your field of interest, not personal information. There are several different types of data entry fields that each work a little differently from one another. a. Text and Memo Fields- These are free text fields that allow you to simply type in information: b. Picture Field- Click on Choose Picture, then Browse to locate the image you would like to use as your profile picture, then click OK. *Note: The picture you upload must be 72 pixels by 72 pixels to properly display in the ISIS Community Portal people finder. c. User Editable Select Fields- These can be tricky. They allow you to choose from a list of pre-entered property value options or to add new options to the list. To view the list of pre-entered property value options that you can choose from, start by clicking the Browse Property icon. Locate your choice in the list Click on your choice to highlight it. Click Add to add your choice into the list. Click OK. If you do not see the property value option that you would like to choose already in the list, you can simply type it in the field and press enter. SharePoint will validate your choice by underlining it and it will be added to the list of property value options once you are finished editing your details and choose Save and Close 6 P a g e
d. If SharePoint finds multiple versions of your choice- i.e. CBSG and CBSG Australasia, a red squiggly line will appear under it. Click on the choice to select your exact preference. e. Non-Editable Select Fields- These non-editable select fields are marked by a Check Values icon. For these fields you are only allowed to add a property value from a predetermined list. You can find this list by clicking the Browse Property icon, or you can enter what you d like in the field, then click the Check Values icon to see if your choice is valid. If it is not valid, a red line will appear under it as described above. Check Values Browse Property f. Each field has a Show To drop down menu. From the drop down menu, you can choose who you want to be able to view this field in your profile. This choice also affects whether or not you will show up in the search results for members who you do not allow to view these fields. *Note: It is recommended that you choose Everyone g. When you are finished filling out your profile details, click Save and Close at the top of the form. 7 P a g e
8. After clicking Save and Close you should be taken to your My Profile page. (If you are not, you can get to this page by clicking the My Profile tab.) This is how other members will see your profile. Double-check to make sure your details are correct. The first part of the process is now complete. You have successfully created an ISIS login account and filled out your profile information. The next step is gaining access to an ISIS Community Portal Member Site. Request Site Access to an ISIS Community Portal Member Sites- From the My Site menu above, navigate to the My Account link at the top right of the screen. This My Account menu is where you can update your Email address and your Portal Account password, as well as request access to other ISIS Portal partner sites. On the main My Account page, near the bottom in the Request Access section, select your Site Name of interest, add a statement describing why you need access and click Submit Request. The Site Owner will process your access request- ISIS does not control access to Sites in the Community Portal. You should receive an email when access has been granted. 8 P a g e
Using My Site- My Site can be accessed from anywhere within the ISIS Community Portal by clicking on the Welcome USERNAME link in the upper right corner, and choosing My Site from the meue: There are 2 Areas to My Site: My Home- Only you can see and where you will manage your My Site. My Profile- This is your public profile page that other users can see. Visible only to you Visible to Everyone 9 P a g e
My Home- My Home lets you manage your profile details, manage and track your Colleagues, and share documents and links. There is more here that you can do but we will only focus on these 4 areas. Update your Profile Details Add links to share with others Manage your Colleagues ;( there will be more on this below) Upload document to share with others Using My Colleagues- The Colleagues feature of My Site is used to create groups of members that you can access easily, whose profile changes you can track, and who you can list on your My Profile page. There are 3 parts to the Colleagues tool: The My Colleagues list where you manage your Colleagues; the Colleague Tracker on your My Home page where you can view your Colleague Groups and see what changes they have made to their profiles; and the Colleagues area on your My Profile page that allows other members to see your list of Colleagues. 10 P a g e
My Colleagues List: To access the My Colleagues list, click on Colleagues in the left navigation bar. You can add, edit and delete colleagues here. To add colleagues, it is much easier to search for them and add them directly from the search results. This will put them in a general group. If you wish to change the group and specify who can see the colleague, you can edit the colleague within the list.
