BUSINESS CONNECTIVITY SOLUTIONS AUDIOCODES DESIGN GUIDE Multi Service Business Gateways (MSBGs) and Enterprise Session Border Controllers (E-SBCs) are key components in migrating into SIP based services. MSBGs and E-SBCs provide businesses with the connectivity, interoperability, survivability, security and quality assurance required to connect to service providers over the Internet using the SIP protocol for signaling. These products can also handle the call traffic and connectivity of users in remote locations. What can you ask the customer? Do you need to connect between TDM and IP PBXs? Are you planning a deployment of SIP Trunking services? Do you need to connect into multiple SIP Trunking service providers and/or PSTN networks? Would you like to gradually connect into SIP Trunking and at the same time be able to connect directly into the PSTN as a fallback? Are you looking for an efficient and secured way to connect home-based workers into your private network? Would you like to ensure voice survivability for business continuity of your branch offices in case of a WAN failure? Do you have Legacy equipment such Analog & Digital phones and TDM PBXs but still want to enjoy the cost savings of SIP Trunking? Are you aware of what your organization s network need to be secured against when connecting into SIP Trunks or IP Centrex services? Are you looking for a highly scalable solution that will allow you to grow on a need basis without paying in advance for excess capacity? As part of the solution, are you looking for an integrated server for hosting key applications? Are you concerned about interoperability issues between your IP-PBX, UC or Contact Center and your service provider s network? Are you looking for a single demarcation point between the service provider network and the enterprise? A-La-Carte configuration options This document will detail a number of scenarios describing a selection of typical configurations used to support different types and sizes of branch offices or enterprise sites. Naturally, there are many more options and customer requirements that cannot be covered in such a document. AudioCodes products allow for various configurations and scaling options, integrating multiple WAN connectivity options, TDM interfaces, SBC session support and other software features based on the specific requirements of the customer. SITE CONFIGURATION #: MICROSOFT LYNC WITH SIP TRUNKING A global pharmaceutical company employs 2500 people in its headquarters. The company wants to deploy a Microsoft Lync 200 solution to provide advanced UC capabilities to its HQ employees, and connect the Lync Server to SIP Trunking services. At least 800 SIP Sessions are required by the company to cover the expected traffic load. The Mediant 3000 E-SBC with 008 E-SBC sessions is connecting to the SIP Trunk service provider on one side, and to the Microsoft Lync 200 Server on the other side. The Mediant 3000 E-SBC is fully certified with Microsoft Lync for secured SIP Trunking with many service providers. The same Mediant 3000 can also be upgraded to an Enhanced gateway platform. SITE CONFIGURATION #3: GATEWAY WITH NUMBER PORTABILITY An accounting firm with 400 employees wishes to gradually migrate from connecting into an incumbent operator to connecting into a separate SIP Trunking service provider. It wants to keep utilizing its existing TDM PBX and Legacy phones. For incoming PSTN calls it wants to keep the existing DID numbers, which cannot be easily ported to other service providers in that country. For outgoing calls it wants to enjoy the cost savings of a SIP trunk. Mediant 000 Media Gateway with four E/T Spans: two spans connected to the incoming PSTN lines, and the other two connect to the TDM PBX. In addition, the outgoing calls have a static configuration in the gateway to go to the ITSP. SIP Service Provider TDM PBX 2x E/T Outgoing calls SIP Trunk 2x E/T Incoming DID Lines PSTN Legacy Phones MK-D3 Mediant 000 VoIP Gateway, 4 E/T, SIP Package Including single module of 4 spans E/T, dual 0/00BaseT Ethernet, and single AC power supply. SITE CONFIGURATION #4: SME S SIP TRUNKING MIGRATION AUDIOCODES DESIGN GUIDE A company with 20 employees has a TDM PBX with an E (or T) trunk. To start saving on costs the company wants to connect to a SIP trunk service with PSTN fallback. In addition the company is starting a trial of a new IP-PBX that will eventually replace the TDM PBX, and searching for 40 low-cost IP Phones with High Definition voice quality. The company requires that the first 60 calls will be routed to the SIP trunk, and the rest of the calls will be routed directly to the PSTN. To provide the SIP trunk connectivity, the Mediant 000 E-SBC with 20 SBC sessions is deployed. It is configured with two Digital Voice modules, each with a single E/T span one for connecting to the TDM PBX and another for connecting to the PSTN. The solution includes a special configuration to answer the call routing requirement. In this configuration, the Mediant 000 E-SBC features a capacity of 20 TDM-to-IP sessions. The 30HD is an entry-level single line IP Phone supporting HD Voice. MK-ESBC-60 MK-VM-2SPAN IP30HDE Licenses SW/MK-ESBC- UP-0 Mediant 000 Enterprise Session Border Controller (SBC) - 60 sessions.
