1 Introduction This standard details the application, installation and operation of the Remsdaq Callisto NX range of remote terminal units (RTU). The following is included in this document: General description; Local operation; Power-On telecontrol facilities; Asset Register details; Installation and commissioning; Inspection and maintenance; Documentation. 4 Description 4.1 Remsdaq Callisto NX Type E RTU Overview The Remsdaq Callisto NX Type E RTU/Controller includes the following features: Remote control of up to four switches or circuit-breakers; Integral FPI/EFPI functionality; Integral PLTU functionality; Mains powered with battery back-up; Battery test/monitoring functionality; Self monitoring; IP Communications (including GPRS/3G/4G, xdsl, Satellite and Fibre); PAKNET Communications; DNP3 protocol; Control/monitoring of all UK Power Network spec RMUs and ACBs; A, V, kw kva kvar monitoring of the TX LV (depending on the capabilities of the power meter installed); Current monitoring of the RMU Tee CB (depending on the capabilities of the protection relay/transducer installed); Current monitoring of the RMU ring switches via the FPI CTs and RTU/RMU Umbilical cables; Remote configuration capability; Additional hardwired I/O not included in the Type E RTU design can be connected using the Auxiliary I/O box. 4.2 Remsdaq Callisto NX Type E RTU The Remsdaq Callisto NX provides the control and monitoring functionality for: UKPN Spec RMUs. LPN ACBs. 11kV/LV Transformer LV way. The Remsdaq Callisto NX RTU utilises modern IP communications and can operate with any compliant IP communications systems, such as GPRS/3G, DSL etc, and will also operate using the PAKNET system. Figure 1 Remsdaq Callisto NX RTU Layout The RTU can be mounted to the wall of a GRP or brick substation, or can be mounted using a floor standing frame in an open substation. 5 Operation 5.1 Local Controls and Indications Local controls and indications are facilitated by the use of the touch screen HMI mounted inside the RTU cabinet, see Figure 1. 5.2 Local Operations from the Control Unit The touch screen HMI (see Figure 1) is configured to initiate or display any function the RTU is capable of, such as: Local/remote selection. Switch or circuit-breaker open/close. Dummy circuit-breaker open/close. Check analogue values. Check alarm/indication states. UK Power Networks 2017 All rights reserved 7 of 13
6 Telecontrol Full telecontrol facilities including remote control, indications and alarms are available from Power-On and described in this section. 6.1 Power-On Controls The available telecontrol operations are given in Table 1. All plant failure alarms should be reported for investigation and remedial action in a timely manner to avoid failure of the equipment. 7 Asset Register Data The Remsdaq Callisto NX RTU is recorded in the Asset Register as a control unit (class CU). Table 4 outlines the asset data that should be recorded. Alfresco > Reference Library > Manufacturers > Remsdaq. 9 Installation and Commissioning The installation and commissioning details are given in the commissioning document (see section 11). 10 Inspection and Maintenance The Remsdaq Callisto NX is nominally maintenance free. The battery is designed for a life of 8 years and should be replaced after this time. All Remsdaq Callisto NX RTUs will have a maintenance schedule task (MST) setup in the Asset Register for the battery replacement in accordance with the Inspection and Maintenance Frequency Schedule (see section 13). Additionally, the battery is also monitored via telecontrol.
