For optimal beam selection, two identical receivers are placed in each terminal in order to continuously search for the best beam during operation on the active beam. Then GX Terminals report best beam information to the GX system, which in combination with the beam map enables optimized capacity utilization. Continuous connectivity is ensured for maximum availability. In each region covered by I5 satellites (Americas/Pacific, Europe/Indian Ocean and Asia), Inmarsat deploys 2 Satellite Access Site (SAS) to ensure complete link redundancy. SAS redundancy eliminates satellite connectivity outages and brings Global Xpress service availability to 99.9% on average.
