NETWORK INSTALLATION ASSUMPTIONS Assumptions are items that must be completed prior to the EbixONE System/Network Installation. 1. The Customer s network cabling has been completed and certified to be working in an Ethernet environment. 2. The Customer s PC workstations, network file server(s) and other network components comply at least with the minimum specifications detailed on this form. DEFINITIONS SPECIFICATIONS FOR CLIENT WORKSTATION PCs 1. Basic User: A user that does NOT perform any of the Power user functions listed below. 2. Power User: A user that performs any of the functions listed below: a. Frequently has 4 or more multi-tasking EbixONE sessions open off of one main menu. b. Uses Impromptu Report Writer on a frequent basis. c. Frequent (daily) Microsoft Word or Excel merge user. d. Frequently performs proposal preparation and issuance. e. CERTIFIED WORKSTATION OPERATING SYSTEMS Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional are certified with EbixONE. It is recommended that the Operating System be a fresh installation and not upgraded from a previous version of Windows. There have been known problems associated with upgraded systems. Upgrades from Windows 98 to Windows XP Professional are not supported. Ebix Support has also discovered problems with new PCs that come with Windows pre-installed. Many times these are not complete installs but merely images of Windows. Customer must have any new updates to video and network drivers installed as required by manufacturers. If you chose to upgrade an existing PC, Ebix, Inc. recommends you check with Microsoft or your local computer vendor regarding the Hardware and Application Compatibility of your PC. You may have hardware and applications outside of EbixONE that may not be compliant and certified for use with Windows XP. The DOS Version of Expedite, which is used for download, has known problems with Windows XP. Microsoft Windows XP Professional has been certified for use with EbixONE 9.07 and Pervasive.SQL 2000i SP4 or higher. You must be on this version of EbixONE and Pervasive to receive support related to Windows XP Professional and EbixONE. Ebix, Inc. does not support the optional Remote Desktop features of Windows XP at this time. Note (1): The Administrator workstation MUST have a clean install of Microsoft Windows 2000/ Windows XP Professional. Note (2): Microsoft Windows XP Home, Windows ME and Microsoft NT are NOT supported. Microsoft Windows 95 is no longer supported. Microsoft Windows 98 is no longer supported. Note (3): Word and/or Excel merge requires backward compatibility between Office XP and Office 2000 documents which may have an issue, check with Microsoft on backward compatibility. Customer agrees that each PC attached to their local area network will meet the minimum specifications detailed. Customer accepts the fact that Ebix, Inc. has no obligations to support, nor can they guarantee the performance, of any hardware/software, which does not meet these minimum specifications. CABLE SPECIFICATIONS FOR CUSTOMER SUPPLIED 100-BASE-T NETWORK CABLING Category 5 that consists of four twisted pair cable installed, terminating on a category 5 rated jack (RJ45) Each cable is to be tested for continuity, pinout connection, near end crosstalk (NEXT) and length, with results documented. Customer agrees to have the network cable inspected, tested and certified to determine if it meets the specification for 100-Base-TX or 100-Base-T4. Customer agrees to have all network cabling meet specifications prior to hardware installation. After hardware installation, it is the sole responsibility of the customer to maintain the cable to specification. Ebix, Inc. has no obligation to support, nor can they guarantee the performance of any cabling which does not meet the recommended specifications. EbixSupport. strongly recommends the installation of an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). CERTIFIED SERVER OPERATING SYSTEMS Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP4 or Windows 2003 Server is certified for use with EbixONE. Microsoft has discontinued support of Windows NT 4.0 but Ebix will continue to provide limited support to existing EbixONE legacy customers on Network Support. Ebix does not recommend Windows 2003 Small Business Edition. While the core kernel of Windows is virtually identical across the versions, the difference in versions lies in the "add-ons" that come with the suites. Windows2003 Small Business Edition only supports up to 75 simultaneous connections, and you can NOT run Windows Terminal Services (in application mode) on it. You would have to run a separate Application Terminal Services Server on your network. Windows 2000 Terminal Server, Windows 2003 Terminal Server, and Citrix XP are certified and supported for use with EbixONE. Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition and Citrix 1.8 are no longer supported but Ebix will continue to provide limited support to existing EbixONE legacy customers on Network Support. For more information on Terminal Service, Citrix and / or WAN requirements, contact ebixsupport. Note: Windows Server Versions for Small Business is NOT recommended. It is the customer s responsibility to keep up to date and apply the latest service packs. These may be found on Microsoft s web site at http://www.microsoft.com. CERTIFIED DATABASE SOFTWARE Pervasive.SQL V8.7 and Pervasive PSQL v9.1. Pervasive has discontinued support for Pervasive 2000i. Ebix will continue to provide limited support on Pervasive 2000i to existing customers with an active network support agreement. Pervasive PSQL v9 for Windows is available from Ebix, Inc. until June 30, 2008. You must have 2 additional Pervasive licenses above your existing EbixONE licenses. The additional licenses are required for the Queue Server and the SPV login to manage your EbixONE system. Example: If you have 10 EbixONE user licenses, you would need a minimum of 12 Pervasive licenses. Pervasive upgrade licenses can be purchased in 5 user increments. The SPV ID is only to be used by Ebix Support and locks to the system when using this ID is billable at the current time and materials rate. As of 12/31/2002 Pervasive.SQL 7.0 is no longer supported. As of 12/31/2003 Pervasive 2000i SP3 is no longer supported. Pervasive 2000i SP4 is the minimum requirement. Pervasive.SQL 2000i is no longer available to purchase, including additional licenses. OTHER CERTIFIED SOFTWARE Microsoft Products Ebix does not supply any Microsoft product Office 2000, Office XP, Office 2003 with latest service pack applied -- certified for use with the EbixONE merge facilities Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003 - certified for use with the EbixONE merge facilities (included in Office 2000, XP, 2003 respectively) Excel 2000, Excel 2002, Excel 2003 - certified for use with the EbixONE merge facilities (included in Office 2000, XP, 2003 respectively) The integrated third-party products Lightpaper and SwiftView are certified with EbixONE and Windows XP Professional. Microsoft Terminal Services Client and Citrix client for use on Windows XP Professional are also certified. EbixONE Word Merge and/or Excel merge are supported with Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2003 on Windows 2000 and Windows XP Workstations. Ebix does not support Windows 98 with either Office 2000 or Office XP. Word and/or Excel should be the same version throughout the entire office. Word Merge functionality requires users to be part of the Administrator or Power User group if using a Windows XP machine. Note: If you are running any other software utilizing older versions of Btrieve/Pervasive, please be aware that the Btrieve settings required to operate EbixONE may conflict with settings required by your other software. Impromptu Administrator Version 6.X, Cognos on Windows 2000 Microsoft Excel is another option that you can use to produce your own reports. Cognos is only needed if you desire to have advanced reporting and formatting features not found in Excel. Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 4.x, 6.x, and 7.x are certified for use with EbixONE. Version 5.x is not supported as it has a know issue with embedded signatures within EbixONE. Zip Utilities WinZip - www.winzip.com EbixONE SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS pcanywhere 32 version 9.02 on Windows 2000. pcanywhere32 10.5 or higher on Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server. At least one installation is required on an Administrator workstation to receive support. A modem or high speed Internet connection is required on the Administrator workstation to connect to pcanywhere. Alternative remote desktop utilities can be used on remaining workstations as long as Ebix can access via the Internet and the agent can provide instructions on connection and use. Third-party software will not be installed by Ebix to access remote desktops. Ebix Support is familiar with the following remote desktop tools: Microsoft Windows NetMeeting 3.01 can be used on Windows 2000 PCs. It is your responsibility to install, configure, and test before contacting Ebix Support for remote desktop access. NetMeeting does not function on Windows XP. Microsoft Remote Desktop with Windows XP. Connection via Internet IP address. It is your responsibility to install, configure, and test before contacting Ebix Support for remote desktop access. WebEx Internet Web Conferencing www.webex.com A network login ID with administrator permission and password is required for supporting Pervasive.SQL. We suggest that the login ID be EBIX (all caps) and a unique password is strongly recommended. The customer must supply the above and have available login and password information. Ebix, Inc. We strongly recommend HP PCL5 or (100%) compatible laser printers. McAfee VirusScan. Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition. Note: Some versions of Norton Script Blocking cause problems with EbixONE Word Merge and Excel Merge as well as proper installation of third-party software such as the Pervasive.SQL V8 Client. Script blocking must be disabled for these features to work properly. See the knowledgebase article How to Disable Script Blocking for more information. Veritas Backup Exec for Windows It is Ebix's recommendation to use the two most common and accepted spy-ware tools Ad-aware and Spy-bot Search and Destroy on PCs used with EbixONE. Ebix does not support the Spyware tools but will document any known issues encountered with these utilities on the ebixsupport Knowledgebase. Customer agrees that the PC file server(s) and other networking components that they want to use in their local area network will meet the specifications detailed.
