Important: T-Mobile does not support connecting to the Internet using a USB cable. Connect your Wi-Fi enabled computer to your Mobile Hotspot To connect your Wi-Fi enabled computer to your Mobile Hotspot, follow these steps: 1. On your Mobile Hotspot, remove the battery cover and battery. Note: Write down the default SSID and password printed on the label in the battery compartment. You will need this information later when you set up the Mobile Hotspot and connect it to other devices. 2. Replace the battery and battery cover and then power on your Mobile Hotspot. 3. On your computer, open the application you use to connect via Wi-Fi. 4. Select the default SSID for your Mobile Hotspot. Note: If you do not see your SSID, your Mobile Hotspot may have gone into sleep mode. Quickly press the Power key to wake the display and then press the WPS key to broadcast the Mobile Hotspot s SSID.
Page 2 of 7 5. Enter the default password. 6. Click OK. Your Mobile Hotspot s Internet connection is now available to your connected computer. Check for connection improvements To use the Admin page to check for connection improvements for your Mobile HotSpot, follow these steps: Note: These steps are only available for the Win 8 Certified (refresh) Software v1.0.1b04. 1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi. 2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/. 3. Enter your administrator password and click Login. Note: The default password is admin. 4. Click Diagnostics. 5. Click Run Diagnostics Tests. 6. After the tests are completed, follow any onscreen prompts or instructions if problems are found. Note: If the diagnostics tests fail to identify any problems, the message Our tests found no internal issues will display. 7. For further assistance, contact T-Mobile at 1-877-453-1308. Change the default SSID and Wi-Fi password To connect Wi-Fi enabled devices, you can use the default SSID and Wi-Fi password printed on a label in your Mobile Hotspot s battery compartment. However, your connections to other devices will be less vulnerable to unwanted intrusions if you set your own. To change the default SSID and Wi-Fi password, follow these steps: Original Software v1.0.0b14 1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi. 2. On your computer, open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/ in the Web address field. 3. In the Password field, enter your administrator password. Note: The default password is admin.
Page 3 of 7 4. Click Login. 5. Click Home. 6. Click Change SSID and Password. 7. In the Current Network Name (SSID)field, enter a new SSID. 8. In the Passwordfield, enter a new Wi-Fi password. 9. Click Apply. 10. Click Apply again. 11. Click OK. Note: It is recommended that you also change the administrator password you use to access the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page. 12. Record your new SSID, Wi-Fi password, and administrator password for safekeeping. You will need this information to connect other devices to your Mobile Hotspot s network and to access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page. Win 8 Certified (refresh) Software v1.0.1b04 1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi. 2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/. 3. Enter your administrator password and click Login. Note: The default password is admin. 4. Click Configuration. 5. Click Hotspot Settings. 6. Click the Network Name (SSID) field and enter a new SSID. 7. Under Wi-Fi Security, click the Password field and enter a new Wi-Fi password. 8. Click Save. 9. Click Save again. 10. Click OK. Note: It is recommended that you also change the administrator password you use to access the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page if you did not changing it when you logged into the Admin page for the first time. 11. Record your new SSID, Wi-Fi password, and administrator password for safekeeping. You will need this information to connect other devices to your Mobile Hotspot s network and to access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page. Install the Mobile Hotspot Admin shortcut on a PC Installing the Mobile Hotspot shortcut on your Wi-Fi enabled computer enables you to: Quickly access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page (but only if your Wi-Fi enabled computer is connected via Wi-Fi to your Mobile Hotspot, not via a USB cable). Copy, move, and delete files on the memory card when the Mobile Hotspot is connected to your computer via a USB cable. Note: Your Mobile Hotspot does not come with a memory card. To install the Mobile Hotspot Admin shortcut on a PC, follow these steps: 1. Charge and turn on your Mobile Hotspot.
Page 4 of 7 2. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the bottom of the Mobile Hotspot. 3. Plug the large end of the USB cable into a USB port on your Wi-Fi enabled computer. 4. Your computer recognizes the new hardware and opens a Setup window. Click Next. Note: If your system does not launch the installation automatically, navigate to My Computer > right-click Mobile Hotspot, and then click Open > AutoRun.exe. 5. When the installation is complete, click Finish. 6. If your computer prompts you, restart your computer to finish installing the software. 7. On your computer, double-click the Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop to access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page. Install the Mobile Hotspot Admin shortcut on a Mac Installing the Mobile Hotspot shortcut on your Wi-Fi enabled computer enables you to: Quickly access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page (but only if your Wi-Fi enabled computer is connected via Wi-Fi to your Mobile Hotspot, not via a USB cable). Copy, move, and delete files on the memory card when the Mobile Hotspot is connected to your computer via a USB cable. Note: Your Mobile Hotspot does not come with a memory card. To install the Mobile Hotspot Admin shortcut on a Mac, follow these steps: 1. Charge and turn on your Mobile Hotspot. 2. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the bottom of the Mobile Hotspot. 3. Page 5 of 7 6. If necessary, click Change Install Location and then select the desired install location and click Continue. 7. Click Install. 8. Enter your Name and MAC password, if necessary, and click Install Software. 9. When the installation is complete, click Close. On your computer, double-click the Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop to access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page. Connect other Wi-Fi enabled devices to your Mobile Hotspot 1. On your Wi-Fi enabled device, open the application you use to connect via Wi-Fi and select the SSID of your Mobile Hotspot. 2. Enter the Wi-Fi password and connect. 3. After successful login, your Mobile Hotspot s Internet connection is available to the connected device. If you do not see your SSID, your Mobile Hotspot may have gone into sleep mode. Quickly press the Power key to light up the LCD screen and then press the WPS key to broadcast the Mobile Hotspot s SSID. Make sure each Wi-Fi enabled device is connected to the Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi and that the Mobile Hotspot is receiving a strong signal. Quickly connect a Wi-Fi enabled device by using WPS Your Mobile Hotspot supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), which is a way for WPS-capable Wi-Fi devices to connect to each other quickly and securely. This feature enables other WPS-capable devices to connect to your Mobile Hotspot without the need to search for the Hotspot s SSID or enter a PIN code. Note: Only Wi-Fi enabled devices with WPS capability can connect to your Mobile Hotspot using WPS. Many Wi-Fi devices are not WPS-capable. To connect a WPS-capable device to your Mobile Hotspot, follow these steps: Make sure your Mobile Hotspot and the connecting device are charged and turned on. On your Mobile Hotspot: 1. Press and hold the WPSkey for 3 seconds to activate Wi-Fi Protected Setup. 2. The LCD screen will display the message WPS Active Waiting and an 8-digit PIN code. On the connecting device: 1. Press or select its WPS key (or equivalent) until the device connects to your Mobile Hotspot. 2. Enter the 8-digit PIN code.
Page 6 of 7 Follow the device instructions to get the exact procedure for using WPS to connect to your Mobile Hotspot. Enter sleep mode The Mobile Hotspot enters sleep mode to conserve power. In sleep mode, the Mobile Hotspot turns off its Wi-Fi functionality and LCD screen. When the Mobile Hotspot is transmitting a Wi-Fi signal and obtaining power from its battery only, it will enter sleep mode automatically if no device connects to it within 10 minutes. 1. Press the Power key to awaken the LCD screen, if necessary. 2. Press the WPS key firmly, for about one second, to place in sleep mode. 3. When in sleep mode, the device interface will dim and an x will appear next to the Signal icon. Note: If the Mobile Hotspot is connected to an external power source, it will turn off its Wi-Fi functionality but keep the LCD screen on. Exit sleep mode To restore the Mobile Hotspot to full operation when it is in sleep mode, follow these steps: 1. Press the Power key. The LCD screen will light up. 2. The x next to the signal icon will change to 0 and then change to the number of connected devices. Log out of the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page To disconnect from the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page, follow these steps: 1. While logged into your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page, click Dashboard if necessary. 2. Click Logout. 3. Click OK.
