WET610N Overview The Internet Connection Kit creates a wireless connection between your wireless router and your DIRECTV Receiver, so your DIRECTV Receiver can access the Internet. Your DIRECTV Receiver has been customized to work with the Cisco Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter to enable the DIRECTV on DEMAND and TV Apps services. This Quick Installation Guide will take you through the setup process to connect the Adapter to your DIRECTV Receiver. WET610N Connection Before you begin the installation of the Adapter, make sure your DIRECTV Receiver and TV are on. Also make sure you can connect to the Internet through your wireless router and computer. A. Plug the power adapter into the power port of the Adapter. Connect Power to Adapter B. Plug the other end of the power adapter into an electrical outlet. Connect Power to Electrical Outlet NOTE 2: If you have Wi-Fi Protected Setup on your router, skip to page 8. If you are not sure, continue to step C. C. Connect one end of the network cable to the Ethernet port of the Adapter. WET610N D. Connect the other end of the included network cable to the Ethernet port on the back of your DIRECTV Receiver. (If your DIRECTV Receiver has two ports, connect the cable to the top port.) Connect Network Cable to DIRECTV Receiver NOTE 3: If you use an Ethernet switch to connect your devices, then follow these instructions: 1. Connect the Adapter to your switch. 2. Disconnect the DIRECTV Receiver from the switch for ten seconds. 3. Re connect the DIRECTV Receiver to your switch. E. The Power and Ethernet lights on the Adapter light up. WET610N Setup The TV automatically displays instructions to follow. Use the Select button on your DIRECTV Remote Control to make your choices. A. Within 60 seconds, the TV should ask if you want to configure the Adapter. Select Set Up Now to continue. Troubleshooting Tip: If the Wireless Adapter Found screen does not appear within 60 seconds, unplug the Adapter from your DIRECTV receiver for ten seconds, and then plug it back in. If you still do not see the Wireless Adapter Found screen, then press the Menu button on your DIRECTV Remote Control. Go to Parental, Fav s & Setup > System Setup > Network. Then select Repeat Setup or Connect Now. B. The TV displays a list of wireless networks. Highlight your wireless network, and press Select to display a blue dot next to your network. Then select Continue. Select Set Up Now If your wireless network is not displayed, try placing the Adapter in an elevated or alternate location, and remove any obstacles that would block the wireless signal. WET610N Advanced Users: NOTE 4: If you are not an advanced user, proceed to step C on page 6. If you are using a hidden wireless network name (SSID), then select Enter Name, and follow these instructions: 1. Enter your hidden network name (SSID), and then select OK. Refer to Note 5 (below) for help. Enter Wireless Network Name (SSID) 2. If your network uses security, then enter the security key, and select Continue. Refer to Note 5 (below) for help. (This key was created when you set up your wireless router. Refer to your router s documentation for more information.) Enter Security Key NOTE 5: Use the number keypad on your DIRECTV Remote Control to enter your hidden network name (SSID) or security key. For each character, press the appropriate number button repeatedly until you see the desired character. When you are finished, press the down arrow, and then select Continue. WET610N C. If your network does not use wireless security, then proceed to step E. If your network uses wireless security, then use the number keypad on your DIRECTV Remote Control to enter the security key. Refer to Note 5 (previous page) for help. (If you are using WEP security, enter either 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters to match your security key. Hexadecimal characters are numbers, 0 to 9, and letters, A to F.) Then select Continue. Enter Security Key (This key was created when you set up your wireless router. Refer to your router s documentation for more information.) D. Please wait until the security key is verified. E. WET610N F. The DIRECTV Receiver is connected to the Internet. To proceed, select Continue. If you do not see the Congratulations screen, please visit directv.com/ondemand for troubleshooting support. G. Please read the information on the screen. Then select Done. Select Continue Select Done Congratulations, setup is complete and you are now connected to DIRECTV on DEMAND and TV Apps. Please allow up to 24 hours for all of the DIRECTV on DEMAND content to be downloaded onto your DIRECTV Receiver. You now have access to thousands of additional titles that you can watch on your schedule. To begin your DIRECTV on DEMAND experience, go to channel 1000. To access TV Apps, press the right arrow button on your DIRECTV Remote Control. NOTE 6: If you are having difficulty connecting to the Internet or need more information, visit www.directv.com/ondemand, or call 1-800-531-5000. WET610N Wi-Fi Protected Setup Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup to create a wireless connection between the Adapter and your router. IMPORTANT: If you have completed the previous section, Setup, then you do not need to follow the instructions in this section, Wi-Fi Protected Setup. Your setup is complete. NOTE 7: The Adapter should be powered on but not connected to the DIRECTV Receiver. A. On your router, press the button that looks like one of the icons in the picture. B. Wait until the Wi-Fi Protected Setup light on the router flashes. Within two minutes, press the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button on the Adapter (this button looks like the icon in the picture). The Wi-Fi Protected Setup light flashes while the router is connecting to the Adapter. C. The Wireless light of the Adapter lights up. If the Wireless light does not light up, then repeat steps A and B. If there are issues with Wi-Fi Protected Setup, then follow the instructions in the previous sections, Connection and Setup. WET610N D. Connect one end of the network cable to the Ethernet port of the Adapter. Connect Network Cable to Adapter E. Connect the other end of the included network cable to the Ethernet port on the back of your DIRECTV Receiver. (If your DIRECTV Receiver has two ports, connect the cable to the top port.) Connect Network Cable to DIRECTV Receiver F. Wait until the Ethernet light of the Adapter lights up. Ethernet Light Lights Up G. Wait for two minutes to let the DIRECTV Receiver establish a connection with the Adapter. During this time, a pop-up window may appear, asking you to set up now or later; do NOT make a selection at this time. H. After two minutes, if the pop-up window remains, select Set Up Now to continue. The pop-up window should disappear. You should now be connected to the Internet. WET610N I. To verify connection to the Internet, press the Menu button on your DIRECTV Remote Control. Go to Parental, Fav s & Setup > System Setup > Network > Repeat Setup. J. To proceed, select Continue. When the DIRECTV Receiver is connected to the Internet, the Congratulations screen appears. Congratulations Screen K. If you do not see the Congratulations screen, unplug the Ethernet cable from the DIRECTV Receiver for ten seconds. Then plug it back in, and follow the instructions in the section, Setup. Otherwise, call DIRECTV at the number provided below. Congratulations, setup is complete and you are now connected to DIRECTV on DEMAND and TV Apps.
