2.4 Operating system Make sure that your operating system is up-to-date and all service packs (for Windows XP service pack 2 as a minimum) and updates are installed. If version 4 (or later) of "Microsoft.NET Framework" is not installed on your computer, please download it from the Microsoft homepage and install it on your PC. 3 Installation y Please accept the dialog box that appears by clicking the "Next >" button. y Right-click the file "setup.exe" and select "Run as administrator" on the pop-up menu. NOTE Please note that administrator rights are required. If necessary, contact your system administrator. 3.1 InstallationShield Wizard y In the following dialog box, "Choose Destination Location", you can change the installation path using the "Browse..." button. Please then accept the dialog box by clicking the "Next >" button. After "setup.exe" has started, an InstallationShield Wizard is installed first. NOTE The dialog boxes for the InstallationShield Wizard are always in English. 3 Installation 11
3 Installation 12 y In the following dialog box, "Ready to Install the Program", please start the installation of the InstallationShield Wizard by clicking the "Install" button. 3.2 DriveManager setup After the InstallationShield Wizard has been successfully installed, the Setup for the DriveManager software package appears automatically. y The successful installation of the InstallationShield Wizard is indicated with a final dialog box that you can close by clicking the "Finish" button.
y In the left part of the Setup with the white background, you can select the components to be installed. Components to be installed must always be marked with a check mark. Information on the individual components is displayed underneath the left part of the Setup with a white background if you move the mouse pointer over the individual components. y Click the "Install" button to start the installation of the components marked. With some versions of Windows you will receive a prompt for one of the drivers to be installed. y The components already installed are listed in the right part of the Setup with a colour background. During initial installation, no components are shown on the right side. y If the check box for the "Run installation in automatic mode" function is selected, all components to be installed are installed one after the other. Without this function each component must be installed separately. y You can cancel the installation by clicking the "Close" button, after a further confirmation prompt. 3 Installation 13
3 Installation 14 y You can interrupt aninstallation in progress by clicking the "Break installation" button. Setup then remains open and indicates the components still to be installed and already installed. You can continue the installation by clicking the "Install" button or cancel the installation by clicking the "Close" button and accepting a confirmation prompt. y You can display product and version information for Setup by clicking the "About..." button. The same applies for all components. 3.3 Installation completed After successful installation, Setup remains open and indicates which components have been installed and which components have not been installed.
Three icons also appear on the desktop: Icon Function DriveManager 5, the program for the configuration, commissioning, service, diagnostics and project management of drive controllers from LTI Motion. The usage of DriveManager 5 is described in detail in the system help (see also 4.2 System help on page 17). Separate loader for the serial commissioning of drive controllers. 4 Getting started and help 4.1 Monitor configuration If the entire user interface for DriveManager 5 is not displayed, it may help to change the size of the text (recommendation: 100 %) or the monitor resolution. If you press the F1 key, help related to the element of the application with the focus (e.g. window, dialog box or data entry field) opens; the help describes this element. The system help is divided into the following different help systems: 4.2.1 Program help The functions of DriveManager 5 are described in the "Program help" There is an overview of the user interface, the function of the oscilloscope and project management (menu bar >Help >Program Help). 4.2.2 Device help The software functions for the device connected are described in the "Device help" (menu bar >Help >Device Help). 4 Getting started and help 17

5 Uninstalling There are various methods of uninstalling DriveManager 5 or individual components. NOTE 5.1 Setup Please note that all methods require administrator rights. If necessary, contact your system administrator. NOTE The dialog boxes for the InstallationShield Wizard are always in English. You can start the InstallationShield wizard by clicking the "Start" button. The Setup for the DriveManager software package appears. The components installed are listed in the right part of the Setup with a colour background. You can now select individual components to uninstall. Components to be uninstalled must always be marked with a check mark. Click the "Uninstall" button to start the uninstallation of the components marked. With this method both individual components and the complete DriveManager 5 software package can be uninstalled. y Right-click the file "setup.exe" and select "Run as administrator" on the pop-up menu. y After you start "setup.exe", first an InstallationShield Wizard prompt appears with various options. Click the "Uninstall" button in the InstallationShield Wizard to start the uninstallation of all components installed. Click the "Uninstall starter only" button to uninstall only the InstallationShield Wizard. 5 Uninstalling 19
5 Uninstalling 20 5.2 Control Panel This is the most time-consuming method as the components must all be uninstalled separately. Windows 7 y >Start >Control Panel In the "Icons" view: >Programs and Features In the "Category" view: >Programs >Programs and Features y One after the other, double-click the programs with names that start with "LTI" and with version information that starts with "5.6". Answer the subsequent conformation prompt with "Yes". 5.3 Start menu If you use this method it is not possible to select individual components. It is only possible to uninstall the DriveManager 5 software package. y >Start >All Programs >LTI Motion GmbH >DST >5.6 >LTI Uninstaller for DST Package y All components installed are uninstalled without any further prompt. NOTE Using this method, all components that were installed using Setup are uninstalled. Components installed by another method and components for older DriveManager versions are retained.
