I. Workstation Minimum Requirements a. Hardware Pentium 600 MHz 256 MB RAM 100 MB hard disk space Video Card 1. Must have at least 32 MB of onboard video RAM 2. Be able to perform at a minimum of 1024 x 768 resolution at 16 bit color depth b. Software Prior to configuring and installing any software, make sure you have local administrative rights to the workstation before attempting anything. Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 / 6.0 SP1 or later with the following conditions to access myprimavera (Primavision) 1. Delete all cookies and Temporary Internet Files 2. Under <Tools>, <Internet Options> - <General> tab, click on <Settings>, select Check for newer versions of stored pages: Every visit to the page Java Runtime Environment version 1.4.2_01 must be installed (must be downloaded and installed manually) 1. If you are already using P3e/c 4.1 on your desktop as a stand-alone installation, do not attempt the installation procedure below before contacting us or your IT staff, otherwise you might lose your current work. Please contact us prior to installation if you are unsure about your current configuration. Install P3e/c 4.1 as a standalone with the following steps: 1. Insert the P3e/c 4.1 CD and type in EC-C01 for the product key and select Next Accept the license agreement and select Next Technology for Managing Projects Page: 2 of 20
Select Stand-alone installation and select Next Select Next Technology for Managing Projects Page: 3 of 20
Select the yellow folder button for the dialog box titled License key file to select the license file for the training database Browse to the training license file that you ve downloaded from Primavera or received on CD, select the file and click Open Technology for Managing Projects Page: 4 of 20

Let the installation proceed until all the boxes on the left are checked with a red check mark (this can take anywhere from 4-10 minutes depending on the speed of your computer) When installation is complete, select Finish to exit to your desktop Technology for Managing Projects Page: 6 of 20
After installing the P3e/c 4.1 as a stand-alone, Service Pack 2 build 3000.0011 will need to be installed to ensure compatibility with the latest MS Windows security updates. Select the <setup.exe> file from the extracted location and run the setup 1. Can be downloaded and installed from the following site: http://www.projectstatus.com/pub 2. After installing Service Pack 2 build 3000.0011, a DHTML patch will need to be installed. Select the <P3ec.41.HotfixPatch.031005.exe> file to run the setup 1. c. Installing the Training Database and License Open the folder where the training database file named <PMDB.GDB> is stored. (This file is either downloaded from us or on CD) Then browse to the folder where P3e/c 4.1 was installed and create a new folder called Training within the Database subfolder. Copy the training database from the CD or downloaded location to the Training folder that you ve just created Technology for Managing Projects Page: 12 of 20
Open the <P3ec Work Folder> (This file is either downloaded from us or on CD) Then browse to the folder where P3e/c 4.1 was installed and copy the contents of <P3ec Work Folder> into the root of the P3e/c installation folder. d. Creating the Training Database Alias Launch P3e/c 4.1 Project Management and click on the ellipses ( ) to edit database connections Technology for Managing Projects Page: 13 of 20
Select Add to setup a new database connection to the training database that we previously copied to the Training folder Select Next on the DB Config welcome screen Technology for Managing Projects Page: 14 of 20
Enter PMDB_TRAINING for the Database alias dialog box, and make sure you select INTRBASE as the driver type When prompted to confirm creation of new database alias, select Yes Click on the ellipses ( ) to browse for the training database file Technology for Managing Projects Page: 15 of 20
Browse to the Training subfolder that you ve previously created within the P3e/c database folder and select the <PMDB.GDB> training database file and click Open Verify that the path is correctly pointed to the training database that you ve just selected and click on Next Technology for Managing Projects Page: 16 of 20
Leave all these options as default and select Next Verify that the Database alias name is what you ve specified before and click Next Technology for Managing Projects Page: 17 of 20
If everything was setup correctly the final screen should show that the database connection was successful. Click on Finish You ll be taken back to the Edit Database Connections menu. Highlight PMDB_TRAINING and click on Select Technology for Managing Projects Page: 18 of 20
After returning to the login screen, enter the following information to access the training database: 1. Login Name: timh 2. Password: timh 3. The big NO s for a P3e/c 4.1 Training Environment NO personal firewall (i.e. ZoneAlarm, McAfee Security Center) NO Internet Explorer plug-ins / toolbars / browser helper objects (i.e. Google toolbar, Yahoo! toolbar, etc this is recommended by Primavera) NO Spyware or Adware 1. Spyware and Adware is unpredictable and unique in how it effects Internet Explorer and other desktop applications, it is recommended to run a Spyware remover software such as: - Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/) or - Ad-aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) - These are available for download at no charge Security, Firewall and Bandwidth Requirement Access to Internet HTTP port 80 must be open WAN is recommended to have a bandwidth of at least a business DSL, preferably a T1 or greater All students must have local administrative rights to their training workstation while using P3e/c 4.1 Project Management in order to perform tasks that require them to save files to the local hard disk.
