Introduction Captevia is an application for iphone 4 and 4S, and for ipad 2 available for free in the Apple store. With the patient standing, this application takes the front and profile photos that will be used to make a corset. (The version for Minerva braces and knee braces will be available soon). Enter the patient data (Last name, First name, Date of birth, etc.), then, with the calibration test pattern positioned on the median plane of your patient (see the Captevia help), you can either take linear measurements, type anterior-posterior, or measure the front diameter directly from the application. Captevia files can then be sent by email from your iphone or ipad to save them on a workstation where Rodin4D is installed. Next, create your patient to extract the photos in the same folder. If your Rodin4D licence has the Import Captevia option, you have access to an interface that detects your patient s profile contours to adapt them to a Rodin4D library. 2
Associating Captevia files with Rodin4D Captevia - Import file option for Rodin4D To associate files coming from Captevia (.cpv files), go to the Options >> Customise menu, then in the Options tab click on Register Rodin4D in this system. If the button cannot be accessed, make sure that Rodin4D has been launched with administrator privileges. Once the.cpv files are associated with Rodin4D, you should see the Captevia icon in your Windows file manager. 3
Importing and extracting photos from Captevia files When these files are opened from Windows or from your mail box, in Rodin4D you will be asked to add the patient created in Captevia as a new patient or to copy the contents to an existing patient s folder. By clicking on the Create a new patient button, you must select the folder or sub-folder where you want to create the patient. Click on Create the new patient here to create it. By clicking on the Copy into a patient folder button, you must select the patient for whom you wish to copy the Captevia file. Click on Copy the files to this folder to make the copy. 4
In the patient s manager, a Captevia file should be displayed in the patient s tree structure. Right click on the Captevia file and then click on Extract pictures. The photos appear in the tree structure and can be used in the same way as when photos are imported. (See importing photos in the Rodin4D manual) 5
Adapting a library from Captevia files Captevia - Import file option for Rodin4D This function will automatically adapt a library to the photos taken with Captevia. Indeed, an assistant will provide step by step guidance to detect contours and adapt your patient s profiles to a Rodin4D library. To obtain a usable result, please follow the Captevia implementation instructions. This function is only available if you have the licence option in your Rodin4D dongle. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Starting the assistant In order to adapt the library, please follow these instructions: Open the patients manager. Expand the patient s tree structure by clicking on +. Right click on the Captevia file then select Create a form from. 6
Select the type of device. 7
Assistant interface The control handles can be used to adjust the selection area. Use the middle control handles to adjust the size and position. The control handles situated in each corner are used to adjust the width of the frame in order to cut at the shoulder level. A preview of the cut-out is displayed instantaneously. Adjust the selection frame until the cut-out corresponds to the part of the body you wish to adapt to your library. Use the mouse wheel to zoom-in and zoom-out. Click on Next to move to the cut-out the profile photo step. 8
In the same way as for the Front or Back view, adjust the selection frame using the control handles. Click on Next to move to the Vertical adjustment of photos step 9
With the help of the blue line and the markers placed on your patient when the photo was taken, move each photo so that each marker is at the same level. Click on the Synchronise pictures button. When the option Synchronise movements is checked, the photos move simultaneously so that the alignment of markers can be checked. Click on Next to Select the library you wish to adapt. 10
Click on Change the library button to select the library. Captevia - Import file option for Rodin4D Note: The libraries you can use must include the Measurement markers. (See the Library creation section in the Rodin4D manual) Click on Next to move to Adapting the library 11
The purpose of this step is to make the correspondence between each library measurement level with those of the photos. Use the control handles to position the axis in each photo by holding the left click and by moving the control handles sideways. When the click is released, each measurement level is displayed. By holding the left click on the control handles, each measurement level can be moved vertically. Note: When you click on a control handle, the selected level is highlighted in the list of measurement markers. Position each measurement level at the correct height on the photos. Use the markers placed on your patient when the photo was taken to help you. The status of each measurement level or each measurement marker is displayed in the list and should indicate Complete. 12
When the left mouse button is released, the library s measurement marker adapts to the AP and ML measurements from the photo profiles. If you click on Finish then the library adjusted to the current profiles is kept. If you click on Next you move to the Adapting the profiles step. Adapting the profiles is used to adapt your patient s silhouette to your library. In this step, by holding the left click you can move the control points to modify the detected profile. You can also pre-modify your form by modifying the lordosis curve, for example. 13
By clicking on each curve, parameters are proposed to tweak the curve. Captevia - Import file option for Rodin4D o Degree of curvature: The higher the value, the smoother the curve. On the other hand, the position of points will not necessarily represent the position of the curve. o The parameters relating to the properties of the apex concern each point independently of the curve. - Magnetisation: The higher the value, the curve is more jagged. - Tangency: Used to adjust the magnetisation action area. The higher the value, magnetisation will be more localised and therefore the curve is more jagged. Click on Finish to import the result obtained in the Rodin4D 3D modeller. 14
