Installation This section describes how to set up the Expression cabinet and make any necessary adjustments to the interior shelves. In addition, this section tells you how to connect: an internal computer, keyboard and mouse a projector a printer a VC a DVD player Setting Up Expression 303 1. emove the cabinet from its shipping carton. 2. Wheel the cabinet to an appropriate location within reach of a power source. NOTE: eave sufficient space around the entire cabinet so you can comfortably access it as you perform the following assembly and connection procedures. 3. ock the casters by pushing down on the caster tabs; unlock the casters by pulling up on the caster tabs, as shown in the figures below. NOTE: As a safety precaution, and for greater ease of use, the casters should remain locked while Expression 303 is in use. Unlocking the Doors Expression 303 ships with all three doors locked. A single key will unlock all doors. You ll find this key in the key holder (at the rear of the cabinet, to the left of the Connection Panel). The locations of the key holder and of the three door locks are shown below. Adjusting the Shelves Expression 303 comes equipped with two laminated shelves to accommodate your peripherals. To accommodate non-standard sized equipment, you may need to move one of these shelves up or down. The shelves are vertically adjustable in 1¼" increments. emove the shelf by applying pressure to the top tab of the plastic shelf pegs and then maneuvering the shelf up and out. Finally, pull out the four plastic pegs and reposition them. Connecting an Internal Computer 1. Open the computer compartment (side) door, and position your computer next to the open door. 2. ocate the bundle of cables inside the computer compartment and pull it out. Computer Cables NOTE: The cable numbers below correspond to the numbered cables in the figure on the opposite page. 3. Connect the DB15 HD video cable (#4) to the monitor video connector. 4. Connect the 3.5 mm stereo audio cable (#3) to the Audio ine Out socket. 5. Connect the DB9 connector (#6) at the end of the serial cable to the COM (serial) port. 6. Connect the PC printer cable (#8) to the 25-pin parallel port. 7. Connect the J45 network cable (#1) to the network card. 8. Connect the IEC power outlet cord (#5) to the computer power inlet. Connecting a Keyboard and Mouse 1. Place the keyboard and mouse on top of Expression 303, close to the cable opening. 2. emove the cable opening cover and drop the keyboard and mouse cables down the exposed opening. eplace the cover without pinching the cables. Mouse/Keyboard Cable Opening PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard Connectors 3. From the inside of the cabinet, pull the two PS/2 connectors down and through to the rear of the uninstalled computer. 4. Insert the keyboard and mouse PS/2 connectors into the appropriate PS/2 ports on the rear of the computer. Now that the computer is fully connected, carefully slide it inside the computer compartment, with the front of the computer facing the side door. 14 Expression 303 Installation and User's Guide
Connecting a Projector To make connection easier, put the projector on top of Expression 303. 1. Connect a standard CA video cable (not provided) from the projector Video Input to the CA Video (Composite) Output in the Connection Panel (for the projector-to-vc connection). If you're using an s-video cable (not provided), connect it from the projector S-Video Output to the S-Video Input in the Connection Panel 2. Connect a DB15 video cable (not provided) from the projector Video Output to the DB15 Video Input in the Connection Panel. 3. Connect a standard S232 serial cable (not provided) from the projector DB9 serial data port to the DB9 serial output in the Connection Panel (enabling on-screen projector controls for a connected SMAT Board). 4. 5. Plug the projector power cord into a power adapter cord (located in the Power Kit), and then into one of the power outlets adjacent to the Connection Panel. Power Outlet 6. If you re not using the projector immediately, slide it into its storage shelf. Depending on the size of your projector, you may need to slide it onto the shelf in a sideways position. Connecting a Printer 1. Place the printer on the middle shelf in the peripheral cavity, with the back of the printer towards you. Printer 2. Connect one end of the DB25 printer cable (not provided) to the parallel port on the rear of the printer, and the other end to the Printer Port on the Connection Panel. Connecting a VC or DVD Player 1. Place the VC or DVD player directly on the bottom of the peripheral cavity, with the back of the VC/DVD player towards you. VC/DVD Player NOTE: For steps 2 (a and b) and 3 (a and b) below, refer to the figure on the next page. 2a. If you re using a composite CA video cable (not provided), connect one end to the Video Out jack on the VC or DVD. This jack may be labeled To Monitor. Plug the other end of this cable into the Video Input in the Source 1 Input section of the Connection Panel. 2b. Connect standard red and white CA audio cables (not provided) from the CA / Audio Outputs on the VC/DVD to the two CA / Audio Inputs in the Source 1 Input section of the Connection Panel. Be careful to keep your right and left channel connections correct for stereo sound. 3a. If you're using an s-video cable, connect it to the "S-Video out" connector on the VC/DVD. Plug the other end directly into the S-Video Input in the Source 2 Input section of the Connection Panel. 3b. Connect standard red and white CA audio cables (not provided) from the CA / Audio Outputs on the VC/DVD to the two CA / Audio Inputs in the Source 2 Input section of the Connection Panel.
