3 1. Product Service Overview UbiLive Home Edition is a social networking application with capabilities of accessing content and linking people communities via Samsung mobiles as well as personal computers. With virtualization and distributed computing technology, UbiLive Home Edition allows users to unleash the resources across heterogeneous networks like 3G/Wi-Fi/WiMax, and grants exciting experience/moment for users to instantly share/access any content from the Internet and mobile communities regardless of where they are and what formats the content are. UbiLive Home Edition is developed by ubitus Inc and provide solely for Samsung Mobile Phones. 1.1 Language Supports UbiLive Home Edition service supports English and Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Chinese and Russian in UbiLive Home Edition mobile client, PC installer, and web browsing page. If user wants to switch the language in mobile, he/she just needs to change the language setting in this mobile device, and UbiLive Home Edition application will change language accordingly. 2. Installation When using UbiLive Home Edition, you have to implement installation in PC. The related system requirements and installation procedure for UbiLive Home Edition PC installers are listed below. 2.1 System Requirements CPU: AMD Athlon 3200+ processor or 2.4GHz Intel Pentium* IV processor or equivalent (IntelCore2-dual 3GHz is recommended.) Memory: 512MB RAM (1G RAM is recommended) Internet connection (Cable or ADSL with 2Mbps is recommended) 120MB available disk space (1GB is recommended) OS: Windows XP SP2 or above, including Windows Vista Browser: IE 6/7/8 or Firefox 3.0 is highly recommended when using UbiLive Home Edition Web. Note: If you are using Firefox as your browser, please install the official Window Media Player plug-in prior to watching our user guide video on the Web. The plug-in can be found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox 2.2 Installation Procedure There is one PC installer, called ubilve_installer.exe from website (http://www.ubitus.net/homemdia/ss_download.html). After downloading this installer from website, please proceed with installing by clicking the icon in your PC. And this Section will guide you step-by-step through the installation process. Double click on the ubilive_installer.exe executable file. Press next.
4 Check the I Accept checkbox after reviewing the license agreement and then press Next. After selecting the folder for installation, the installation begins. Please wait until the next pop-up window.
5 During the installation, UbiLive Home Edition will ask you to accept to download additional codecs from Internet, please click Yes to proceed with the installation. If you click No, whole installation will be cancelled. Please make sure you have Internet access in installation process. If your PC does not have WMF (Window Media Format) press Yes, otherwise you may skip this step, however it is recommended to install WMF anyhow. If you choose to install WMF please press Yes to accept to continue installation. Please wait until the installation process to complete. It may take several minutes. Click Finish when you finish whole installation.
After installing UbiLive Home Edition, the system and network check wizard, Setup Wizard, will be launched as well subsequently. Press Next in the following screens. 6 If you are new user, please create new user account/password. If you are existing user (such as re-install UbiLive Home Edition), please type in your old account and password here. Each account name needs to be globally unique. Besides, the email address used for user registration will be needed if you implement forgot password in usage afterward. After account setting, you will need to select the video profile (resolution and bit-rate) you would like to see on your devices. The high profile allows you have best quality of video while the low profile allows you to see video streaming within very limited network bandwidth. Note: Please include only English letters, numbers, dashes, underscores, or periods in your account name.
7 After setting the video profile, user can set the shared folder, in which the content is allowed to be share. If you use Vista or Windows 7 OS, you may need to turn off the UAC setting in order to make video profile and shared folder change. First, you need to open Control Panel, and clicks Add or remove user account. Then, click on one of the user accounts, for example: you can use the Guest account. Under the user account, click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link. Under "Make changes to your user account," click on the "Change security settings" link. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure," click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer. Then, your UAC setting is disabled after rebooting your PC. Press Next and Finish afterward, and whole UbiLive Home Edition is ready to use.
8 After installation completed, you can start UbiLive Home Edition application by pressing Start -> Programs -> UbiLive Home Edition. Please put your content files which you hope to share under ShareSpace, you may also access your UbiLive Home Edition Web account with WebEngine option.
9 To restart UbiLive Home Edition service, please go to Windows Services and find UbiLive Home Edition and press start/restart. Or you can press the right button of your mouse on UbiLive Home Edition system tray. And you will find the Restart option. Auto start option in system tray allows user to choose if he wants UbiLive Home Edition application start automatically if PC turns on. And if you exit the system tray, you can click ServiceMonitor option in Windows Start Menu to re-invoke system tray again.
10 To remove UbiLive Home Edition please go to Windows Add or Remove Programs under control panel and proceed with removal. 2.3 Firewall Setting In most home environments, there will be a WiFi AP or at least router, connecting your home PC to the outside world. During installation process, a Configurator (or can be later accessed in UbiLive Home Edition start menu). This tool will help you to open the connection of your UbiLive Home Edition PC to your Samsung phones. When you launch the Configurator, please press Check Firewall setting.
If all successful, you should see the following screen. If you see screen other than this, please consult your AP vendor to open the port mapping manually (ports 5222, 5566, 10002, 8080, and 16890). 11 For more details of firewall setting, please visit http://rdz.ubitus.net/firewall.html
12 3. Mobile Client Functions Introduction This chapter covers the usage functions of UbiLive Home Edition on mobile device, including sign-in, log-out, file sharing, community sharing/chatting, and so on. 3.1 Sign in At the beginning, user could select if he wants the application remember his username and password by checking the remember me checkbox. By doing so, next time when user launch UbiLive Home Edition application, the information of username and password will be filled in automatically. But please understand that remember me function only works if user has signed in successfully. To click the input box username or password, the virtual keyboard will pop up and user could choose the characters accordingly. If it is the first time for current user to login, then the profile UI will be shown up. The user can change the information such as user name, device name, etc. Then press OK, left soft-key, for saving. After signing in successfully, the mobile client will connect to our service and the UI of menu tab is displayed. Please make sure if this mobile can access Internet successfully before signing in UbiLive Home Edition service. 3.2 Share files User can share his own content from one device to his other device. Click My Device first in menu tab; choose the device this specific content belonging to. The content category could be selected in the bottom tab. Choose the content after pressing Send to in Menu soft-key, and select the destination devices for sharing. Multiple content selections are allowed by checking the checkbox at the left-side of each content. After pressing Send button, user could choose the My log in menu tab to see the transmission status about this session. My log UI will display the result of transfer whether it is completed/transferring/failed, and you can click the status bar to see the detail information. Moreover, user can click the View or Play button to see this content immediately if getting content successfully. Please note that if you use content with unsupported codec, UbiLive Home Edition will still allow you sharing but transcoding. Therefore, if the player on your
device can not support this non-transcoding content, you may not View or Play it. Last, if user uses device A to control file sharing from device B to device C, then, even after transmission completed in My log, this file can not be viewed or played from device A. 13
14 3.3 Delete/Rename files Within My device, user could delete or rename the specific content inside our service by clicking delete or rename button in Menu soft-key. After selecting the checkbox of specific content user plan to delete, the double confirmation window will pop-up for user to double confirm. While after clicking the rename button, virtual keyboard will be displayed automatically
for user to type. 15 3.4 Search In UbiLive Home Edition, we allow users to search their content by keyword. So if the user plan to share some content or view some content while he happens to forget which folder it located in, user could simply type the keyword in the search bar after pressing Search in menu tab. User could select the content type he prefers to search. If user selects Search in
menu tab under My devices, the pool of search is under My devices; if it is under Buddy list, the pool of search is within my buddies. 16 3.5 Streaming UbiLive Home Edition allows user to view specific content via streaming with minimized waiting time. User could view the selected content and UbiLive Home Edition will launch the media player inside mobile device to play as soon as the streaming buffer is done. User could cancel the streaming request when waiting in buffer time. 3.6 My log
In My log of menu tab, user can understand each status of content transmission. If some transmission session is cancelled, we allow user to click Retry to transmit this content again directly. Furthermore, if some transmission sessions are completed, User could press View here to see the content immediately. In addition, user can choose one of the categories, Failed/In-progress/Completed, from the bottom tab. For example, user can choose Failed to check each failed session. If there are too many sessions here, user could click the Delete soft-key to select which status should be deleted. However, if the player on your device can not support non-transcoding content, you may not View or Play it. Last, if user uses device A to control file sharing from device B to device C, then, even after transmission completed in My log, this file can not be viewed or played from device A. 17 3.7 Settings 3.7.1 Change device name User could change his own device name within UbiLive Home Edition service. First, click Settings in menu soft-key. Secondly, click input box device name, and the virtual keyboard will launch automatically. User could type his preferred device name through virtual keyboard. Click Done to save the modification. Default device name will use this device model no., e.g. ST-8000i or whatever. The input policy of mobile device name is not allowed using /, @,, &,, >, <.
18 3.7.2 Change password User can click Change password button in the Settings within menu soft-key. As soon as user clicks, he must input his old password first. Furthermore, user must type his new password twice correctly in UbiLive Home Edition service. With all procedure successful, pressing done and UbiLive Home Edition will save this new password immediately. Please note that the change password only succeed when user logs in his own PC platform, not his buddy s PC.
19 3.7.3 New chat alert In the Settings within menu soft-key, there is a switch named "New chat alert", if user set it to be "ON," when there is new incoming message from your buddies, there will be a dialog window pop-up for user to read this new message or not. If user set it to be "OFF", then there will be no popup dialog to remind user for this incoming message. 3.7.4 Access to shared folders In the Settings within menu soft-key, there is a switch named "Access to shared folders", if user set it to be "Allow," user s buddies are allowed to access the shared folders here. If user set it to be "Disallow", then user s buddies are not allowed to
access those shared folders. 20 3.7.5 Change sharing folder In the Settings within menu soft-key, we also allow user to change specific folder he decides to share with his buddies. After pressing Shared folders button, the directory structure of this device will be shown up and user can choose which folder as a sharing folder within UbiLive Home Edition service. Click OK for saving setting change.
3.7.6 Upgrade mobile client 21 In the setting option of Menu, and click Upgrade UbiLive Home Edition., there will be a pop-up window to ask if user wants to upgrade UbiLive Home Edition mobile client or not, if click yes, the UbiLive Home Edition client will be shut down and the mobile browser will be launched to access the upgrade portal directly. 3.8 Buddy list 3.8.1 Log in other buddy s PC In UbiLive Home Edition service, if your own PC didn t turn on, and when you use either web browser or mobile client to log in, we allow logging in on your buddy s PC, which turns on at that moment. Please note that if you log in your buddy s PC, then, you will be regarded as guest user of this PC. While if you log in on your own PC, you will be regarded as super user. User can select which buddy s PC to log in as following image.
Super user can invite other user as his/her buddy through UbiLive Home Edition web browsing page, and this invite function requires to know the exact name of other buddy you plan to add. When super user uses invite, the invitee will be added as this super user s buddy. Therefore, this invitee can log in on this super user s PC if invitee s PC turns off. In web browsing page, UbiLive Home Edition user can use email invitation to ask his/her friend to use UbiLive Home Edition service. Whole this process will be introduced in later section. After his/her friend completes registration, he or she could log in on this super user s PC if he/she didn t have PC platform or his/her PC platform is turned off. 3.8.2 Add buddy In Buddy list menu tab, guest user could click Add Buddy in menu soft-key to add other buddies in UbiLive Home Edition service. After clicking Add Buddy, search bar will be displayed for user to type the keyword of username he thinks to add. The searchable user should belong to the same PC platform this guest user logs in. After selecting the specific searched people, user must select the group to put this buddy inside. If other people add you to be their buddy, no matter what operation you are doing, there will be a window pop-up for you to confirm if you allow this people invite you. Adding buddy is mutual operation, so if other people add you in his buddy list, you can also see him in your buddy list in UbiLive Home Edition. After adding buddy, the user can start to chat with and share content with this buddy as well. Please note that the online status of your buddy is shown only when this buddy logs in the same PC platform as you do. Therefore, if your buddy logs in on PC1 while you log in on PC2, then, you will see each other offline as well in each mobile client. 3.8.3 Delete buddy User can delete buddy relationship by selecting delete buddy function in menu page in Buddy list. If super user deletes other buddies, these buddies can not log in this super user s PC anymore. If guest user deletes the buddy relationship with super user, then, he or she can not operate and log in this super user s PC afterward. 22
3.8.4 Buddy chatting 23 Click the buddy user plan to chat in buddy list, and click Chat button beside this buddy, there will be a chat room for user to enjoy chatting function. Press enter to submit the texts during the chatting. 3.8.5 Share files User can share files to his buddy by clicking Share files when user chat with his buddy in chatting room. After pressing Share files, user need to choose the specific device that content belonging to, select content, click send soft-key, and wait for chatting buddy s confirmation.
24 4. Web Browsing Page Functions Introduction This chapter covers the usage functions of UbiLive Home Edition web browsing page, http://homemedia.samsungmobile.com, including Forgot password, Email invitation, File sharing, Invite friendship, and so on. 4.1 Forgot Password Click Forgot password hyperlink in log-in page, and fill in your username and email, which is used in registered. Then, the new password will be sent to your email box. User could change password after logging in for sure. 4.2 Email invitation Click Invite your friends to use UbiLive Home Edition service hyperlink in log-in page, and fill in your username, password, and your friend s email. Then, the invitee will receive this email with an URL inside. After clicking this URL by invitee, there will be a registration form for him to fill in. After registration completion, this invitee will be a buddy of this inviter and could be a guest user to log in on inviter s PC platform to use UbiLive Home Edition service.
25 4.3 Invite friendship Super user can have the right to invite other account to be his buddy by invite friendship. Click icon in buddy list window. And In this case, inviter needs to know the exact name of invitee. After invitation, this invitee becomes inviter s buddy and could log in this inviter s PC platform. 4.4 Share files User can view all content allowed to be shared in web browsing page. It is also available to share content with his buddy here. By clicking on the content he wants to share, there will be a pop-up window in the center of web browsing page as below.
26 Select the device you think to share and click share button in the left-bottom part. The transmission will be invoked. You can see the transmission status in the left-bottom sub-window. 4.5 Search User can implement content search Search window. Under this function, user can fill in the keyword of content he would like to find and select the category, such as video, it belongs to. 4.6 Streaming After clicking the content, there will be a sub window pop-up. If user clicks get in the right-bottom part, this content will proceed downloading and play directly after completing download process. If user clicks view button in the right-bottom part, this content will proceed streaming and play directly. Please note that if user gets/views a codec-unsupported content, therefore, our PC platform won t do transcoding, and this content will play only if there is a local player which supports this
codec. Besides, if this content couldn t be supported with streaming, such as document or photo, therefore, user could only click get button. 27 4.7 Buddy Chatting Click the chat button beside the user you plan to chat, and then, there will be a sub-window of chat room pop-up. 4.8 Change password Click the change password button in the upper-right corner in web browsing page, and user can change his password here. User needs to input his old password and double inputs his new password here to confirm. Password change only
works when this user logs in his own PC platform. 28 4.9 Add buddy In My group sub-window, guest user could click Search Buddy button to add other buddies in UbiLive Home Edition service. User needs to type the keyword of username he thinks to add and the searchable user should belong to the same PC platform this guest user logs in. 4.10 Delete buddy User can delete buddy relationship by selecting delete buddy function beside this buddy in web browsing page. If super user deletes other buddies, these buddies can not log in this super user s PC anymore. If guest user deletes the buddy relationship with super user, then, he or she can not operate and log in this super user s PC afterward. After clicking delete buddy, there will be a pop-up window to double confirm this action.

30 5. Troubleshooting Q1: If my mobile client showed Fail to connect to server during login, what will I do? A1: Please make sure your mobile can access Internet successfully. If yes, then, please check your Firewall setting in the Configurator is successful, if it fails in Firewall setting, please manually either shutdown the Firewall setting in Windows Control Panel or open ports 5222, 5566, 10002, 8080, and 16890 for your Firewall. Q2: If UbiLive Home Edition service is not working due to some unknown reason, what will I do? A2: Please use Windows services to restart the UbiLive Home Edition service; this is the most efficient way. Q3: If the account and password failed to register? A3: The account needs to be unique, please choose another account name. Q4: Why my buddy is online but no device shown up? A4: If your buddy logs in through web browsing page ONLY, then, there will be no devices shown up. Therefore, you and he can chat with each other together but you can not get any content from him because he has no device logs in here. Q5: When I view content on my devices through UbiLive Home Edition Web page, why it only has video but no audio on media player? A5: UbiLive Home Edition now supports most popular audio codecs, incl. mp3, wma, and amr_nb. If the audio codec of your content is not supported yet, you will only view the video but audio. Please email us the name of this audio codec and we will list it in our high priority list, which will be dealt with in our next UbiLive Home Edition update. Thank you.
