1.0 Overview Figure 1: MAX10-SOM-50 Module MRA Digital s MAX10 System on Module (SOM) MAX10-SOM-50 provides designers with a sophisticated platform built around Altera s revolutionary 50K Logic Elements (LEs) MAX10 FPGA. The MAX10-SOM-50 is designed to provide system developers access to all of the peripherals on the MAX10 device. The MAX10-SOM-50 incorporates on-board DDR3 memory, SPI Flash Memory, Power Supplies and security EEPROM just to name a few. There are two high-speed mezzanine expansion connectors that allow you to interface to MRA Digital s MAX10-SOM daughter cards, or your custom designed expansion daughter card. Daughter cards enables you to get access to other MAX10 peripherals such as Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Video Output port, ADCs, JTAG and High Speed GPIOs and much more. The MAX10- SOM-50 is a perfect system for production and prototyping, and is an ideal solution for industrial, medical, automotive, consumer, and military markets. www.mradigital.com Page 3

4.0 Power 4.1 Power Generation Overview The input voltage should be 12V DC. The supply voltages (12.0V, 5.0V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.5V and 1.2V) are generated by on the board power circuitry. Figure 6 shows the power tree. The 12.0V, 5.0V, 3.3V and 2.5V voltage are fed to pins on P1 connector and can be used to power other circuits on the daughter boards. Figure 6: Power Tree 4.2 Power Supply Monitoring There are two chips on the board to sense and monitor different generated voltages on the SOM board. Both chips can are accessible through I2C lines as shown in Figure 7. I2C addresses are 98 HEX and 9A HEX. www.mradigital.com Page 8

5.0 Clocking There on board two Programmable Oscillators that can be programmed using the Clock Control GUI. First one is Si5338 Programmable Oscillator as shown in Figure 8. Its I2C Address is 70HEX and the default values for the clock outputs are 50MHz, 25MHz, 125MHz and 100MHz. Figure 8: Si5338 Programmable Oscillator The second Programmable Oscillator is Si570 as shown in Figure 9. It is used to generate clock for the ADC. Its clock can be programmed using the Clock Control GUI. Its I2C Address is 55HEX and the default value for the clock output is 10MHz.
