PRODUCT BULLETIN NO. 2750 END-OF-SALE AND END-OF-LIFE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE CISCO BPX 8600 SERIES MULTISERVICE SWITCH Cisco Systems announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco BPX 8600 Series multiservice switches and the Cisco Service Expansion Shelf (SES). The Cisco BPX 8600 Series is comprised of the Cisco BPX 8620, the BPX 8650, and the BPX 8680 platforms and all supporting BPX products and software (see Table 2). The Cisco SES is comprised of the Private Network-Network Interface (PNNI) controller for the Cisco BPX 8600 Series switches and its supporting products (see Table 2). The last day to order the Cisco BPX 8600 Series switches, the Cisco SES and all supporting BPX and SES cards is January 31, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until January 31, 2011. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco BPX 8600 Series, the Cisco SES, and all supporting BPX and SES cards, as well as all software and firmware releases. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco MGX 8800 Series Multiservice Switch products, which supply an enriched feature set of the capabilities offered in the Cisco BPX 8600 Series and the Cisco SES. The Cisco MGX 8800 Series products offer a full range of Frame Relay, ATM, circuit emulation, voice, and IP services. They have an innovative architecture that supports multiple control planes and a dynamic allocation of services mix while supplying high network availability. The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software. The last-possible date a routine failure analysis may be performed to determine the cause of product failure or defect.
