This manual is applicable to DS-1H05-T, DS-1H05-T/E and DS-1H05-R Ethernet-over-Coax Extender. This manual may contain several technically incorrect places or printing errors, and the content is subject to change without notice. The updates will be added into the new version of this manual. We will readily improve or update the products or procedures described in the manual. 1

Safety Warnings and Cautions Please pay attention to the following warnings and cautions: Hazardous Voltage may be present: Special measures and precautions must be taken when using this device. Some potentials (voltages) on the device may present a hazard to the user. This device should only be used by Employees from our company with knowledge and training in working with these types of devices that contain live circuits. Power Supply Hazardous Voltage: AC mains voltages are present within the power supply assembly. This device must be connected to a UL approved, completely enclosed power supply, of the proper rated voltage and current. No user serviceable parts inside the power supply. System Grounding (Earthing): To avoid shock, ensure that all AC wiring is not exposed and that the earth grounding is maintained. Ensure that any equipment to which this device will be attached is also connected to properly wired grounded receptacles and are approved medical devices. Power Connect and Disconnect: The AC power supply cord is the main disconnect device to mains (AC power).the socket outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be readily accessible. Installation and Maintenance: Do not connect/disconnect any cables to or perform installation/maintenance on this device during an electrical storm. 2

Power Cord Requirements: The connector that plugs into the wall outlet must be a grounding-type male plug designed for use in your region. It must have certification marks showing certification by an agency in your region. The connector that plugs into the AC receptacle on the power supply must be an IEC 320, sheet C13, female connector. See the following website for more information http://kropla.com/electric2.htm. Lithium Battery: This device contains a Lithium Battery. There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the vendor s instructions and in accordance with local environmental regulations. Perchlorate Material: Special handling may apply. See www.dtsc.ca.gov/hazardouswaste/perchlorate. This notice is required by California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 4.5, Chapter 33: Best Management Practices for Perchlorate Materials. This device includes a battery which contains perchlorate material. Taiwan battery recycling: Please recycle batteries. Thermal and Mechanical Injury: Some components such as heat sinks, power regulators, and processors may be hot; care should be taken to avoid contact with these components. Electro Magnetic Interference: This equipment has not been tested for compliance with emissions limits of FCC and similar international regulations. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold, or leased until authorization from the United States FCC or its equivalent in other countries has been obtained. Use of this equipment in a residential location is prohibited. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy which may result in harmful interference to radio communications. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment on and off, the user is required to take measures to eliminate the interference or discontinue the use of this equipment. Preventive and Cautionary Tips In the use of the product, you must be strict compliance with the electrical safety regulations of the nation and region. Please use the power adapter, which is provided by normal company. The standard of the power adapter is DC12V/1A for DS-1H05-T and DS-1H05-R models, and DC12V/2A for DS-1H05-T/E model. Please disconnect the power supply before installation or operation. If the product does not work properly, please contact your dealer or the nearest service center. Never attempt to disassemble the camera yourself. (We shall not assume any responsibility for problems caused by unauthorized repair or maintenance.) If smoke, odors or noise rise from the device, turn off the power at once and unplug the power cable, and then please contact the service center. Do not drop the equipment or subject it to physical shock, and do not expose it to high electromagnetism radiation. Avoid the equipment installation on vibrations surface or places subject to shock (ignorance can cause equipment damage). Do not place the equipment in extremely hot, cold (the operating temperature shall be -10 C ~ +55 C), dusty or damp locations, or fire or electrical shock will occur otherwise. The equipment shall be kept from rain and moisture. Exposing the equipment to direct sun light, low ventilation or heat source such as heater or radiator is forbidden (ignorance can cause fire danger). Please use a soft and dry cloth when clean inside and outside surfaces of the equipment, not to use alkaline detergents. Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases shall be placed on the apparatus. When the optical interface is not connecting with the fiber, please apply the protective cap to the interface to avoid entry of dust. Improper use or replacement of the battery may result in hazard of explosion. Replace with the same or equivalent type only. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions provided by the battery manufacturer. 4

Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1 Overview Adopting the newest Security Link Over Coax technology, the DS-1H05 Series Ethernet-over-Coax Extender can be used to transmit the network data and CVBS signal via coaxial cable to the remote device with low signal loss. 1.2 Features Support transmission of Ethernet data. Support transmission of 1-channel CVBS signal. Up to 500m transmission distance. Reach the downstream speed of 36Mbps and the upstream speed of 11Mbps. DS-1H05-T/E provides PSE power supply (meets IEEE802.af standard). Easy installation and maintenance. Industrial design ensures high reliability. 6

Chapter 2 Operation 2.1 Panel of the Transmitter Front Panel: Description of Front Panel: Serial No. LED Indicator Description Video In Connect to the CVBS video input signal. DIP Switch Set the Ethernet-over-Coax bandwidth. LAN Connect the network signal, e.g., video signal from IP camera, etc. Rear Panel: Description of Rear Panel: Serial No. LED Indicator Description Power Connect to 12 VDC power supply. Power LED Indicate red when the device is powered on. Coax Connect to DS-1H05-R for Coax transmission. Note: The DS-1H05-T/E supports PSE capability and can provide max. 12W power supply for the connected camera. 8

2.2 Panel of the Receiver Front Panel: Description of Front Panel: Serial No. LED Indicator Description Video Out Send the CVBS video signal to the terminal device. DIP Switch Set the Ethernet-over-Coax bandwidth. LAN Send the network signal to the terminal device. Rear Panel: Description of Rear Panel: Serial No. LED Indicator Power Power LED Coax Description Connect to 12 VDC power supply. Indicate red when the device is powered on. Connect to the Transmitter and receive the modulated network video signal and CVBS analog video signal. 2.3 Configuring Coax Transmission Bandwidth You can use the DIP switch settings to configure the downstream bandwidth of the DS-1H05-T or DS-1H05-T/E module and the upstream bandwidth of the DS-1H05-R. Refer to the following table: 9

The higher value of bandwidth results in shorter transmission distance. 3. The transmission distance is also different depending on different type of coaxial cable. 2.4 Installation Prior to Installation Please thoroughly familiarize yourself with the information in this manual prior to installation and operation. Verify that the package contents are correct by checking the items against the packing list. Please contact with our company immediately in case of damaged or missing items in the package. Installing the Device The device is designed in compact metal shell with antirust and anticorrosive surface coating. The device provides mounting holes on the side panels and can be directly mounted to the cabinet, or placed on the desktop or rack. The cabinet should be with water-proof feature. 10
