SNMP support Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a UDP-based network protocol. It is used mostly in network management systems to monitor network-attached devices for conditions that warrant administrative attention SNMP is typically supported in datacenters and systems that use Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). SNMP is the choice protocol for these system. As a result, the administrator of these facilities require information represented in this format. SNMP support for the PM8ECC (with firmware version 2.300 or above) includes Traps. Traps are notifications sent from the SNMP Agent to the SNMP Manager. We use Traps within the SNMP protocol to send PM8 Alarm notifications. Erez Domani23/5/2011 45

Advanced features Erez Domani23/5/2011 50

Customizable alarming Factory configured alarms Detect circuit overloading before the breaker trips Quickly identify the source of a problem Create custom alarms (PM820, PM850, PM870) Combine up to four alarms using Boolean logic (PM850 and PM870) Voltage/current disturbance alarms for sag/swell detection (PM870) The power meter s alarm summary can help identify persistent alarm conditions that need attention. Alarms, stored in power meter memory and viewed in PowerLogic software, provide early warning of potential problems. Erez Domani23/5/2011 51

Advanced logging Onboard memory for reliable collection of historical data: PM850, PM870-800k standard PM810 with logging module, PM820-80k standard Factory default logging starts as soon as meter is powered up Benefits of onboard data logging: Reduce network traffic Prevent gaps in data due to network or computer downtime Logged data can be downloaded to PowerLogic software for use in historical reports for capacity planning, energy trending, and more. Erez Domani23/5/2011 52

Advanced logging (continued) On board data logs include: Min/Max log min/max value for each quantity since last reset Custom data logs with up to 96 quantities each (One log PM820 and PM810 with logging module; Three logs PM850, PM870) Billing log and Shift Energy table Quantities Logged Minutes Days Months kwh IN kwh OUT kvarh IN kvarh Out kvah Total PF Total kw Demand kvar Demand Each 15 Min for 12 days (1152 intervals) 32 Days of Daily logs (32 intervals) 52 days of storage for a single register quantity 48 days of a single energy value (4 registers) 2 years of monthly logs (24 Intervals) The power meter s billing log can be uploaded and viewed in PowerLogic System Manager software. Notes Quantities logged are default values and are user-definable. Daily and monthly PF and demand values represent the last value of the day or month. Erez Domani23/5/2011 53

Advanced logging (continued) Shift energy log tracks energy usage and cost for up to three, user-definable shifts Register-based data is accessible by building automation and SCADA software Erez Domani23/5/2011 54

Power quality monitoring Current and voltage individual harmonic magnitudes and angles to the 31st harmonic (PM810LOG, PM820), or 63rd harmonic (PM850, PM870) Total harmonic resolution to the 63rd harmonic for RMS values Erez Domani23/5/2011 55

Power quality monitoring (continued) The power meter (PM850, PM870) measures power quality according to the EN50160/ITI(CBEMA) and SEMI F47 Power Quality standards. The EN50160 standard defines the voltage quality a customer can expect from the utility. The status (pass or fail) of each evaluation category can be viewed in ION- E tables. The power meter generates alarms when an area of evaluation is outside of the range of acceptable values. Erez Domani23/5/2011 56

Standard waveform capture (PM850) Waveform Capture Manual or Alarm initiation 128 samples/cycle, 3 cycles Waveforms give a graphical representation of what s happening with your power during a particular moment. Quickly isolate potential power problems. Excellent for troubleshooting problems that occur continuously. Erez Domani23/5/2011 57

Disturbance detection and advanced waveform capture (PM870) The PM870 has the ability to detect, alarm upon, and capture voltage and current sags and swells that can cause unwanted trips and process interruptions, damage motors and more. Twelve factory configured voltage disturbance (sag/swell) alarms provide warning and trigger a disturbance waveform capture. Disturbance alarms can be reconfigured for current sag and current swell using PowerLogic software. Voltage sags are often caused by heavy loads being started. The PM870 s disturbance detection features can help isolate the source of troublesome sags and swells. Erez Domani23/5/2011 58

Disturbance detection and advanced waveform capture (continued) Advanced waveform capture (PM870) provides a detailed picture of the disturbance event Configurable from 185 cycles on one channel at 16 samples/cycle up to 3 cycles on six channels at 128 samples/cycle Poor power quality can lead to costly downtime. A PM870 s disturbance waveform capture can provide the information needed to diagnose an event. Erez Domani23/5/2011 59

Trending and forecasting (PM850, PM870) The power meter s onboard trend data with predicted values, can be viewed in PowerLogic software. The power meter maintains onboard trends with historical values and forecast values to help predict future performance Min/Max and Average data available for minutes, hours, days and months Forecast for hours and days Hourly and weekly summaries Trend tables for typical values (e.g. Real Power, Current, Voltage) can be viewed in PowerLogic software Since trend data is register-based, it is accessible by building automation and SCADA software Erez Domani23/5/2011 60

Other functional features All Models Minimum and Maximum In and Vn-g (available only through register read) Billing Log Configuration (PM810 requires PM810LOG) Different time Intervals GPS time synchronization Via built-in digital input S1 Fixed PUSLE modes available for al D OUT See next slide Single phase systems Allows PT configuration Energy per Shift Available in the PM810 when installing a PM810LOG.(available in previous versions of PM820/50) Duplication in floating point format Registers (11700 11999) IEC Power Factor registers (1190-1197) to include a load direction bit (cap or inductive.
