1. Description 2. Tool variants 1MRS756448 D Issued: December 2007 Revision: C / 03 Mar 2009 version 2.0 SP2 is a management tool for signal configuration, parameter setting, disturbance handling and monitoring of protection relays, terminals and IEDs. The management tool fully complies with the IEC 61850 standard, which simplifies engineering and enables information exchange with other IEC 61850 compliant devices. further supports the TCP/IP protocol for data transfer between the IEDs and the tool. provides the functionality required for commissioning, operation, monitoring and engineering of IEDs. uses ABB s IED-specific connectivity packages, which ensure that appropriate IED basic data are being used in the tool. version 2.0 SP2 does not support the configuration of the 670 series protection and control IEDs. Users of the 670 series IEDs are currently encouraged to use version 1.5 SP2. is available in two variants: and Engineering Pro. The Engineering Pro variant offers, in addition to the functionality of, IEC 61850 peerto-peer (GOOSE) communication configuration. 3. Connectivity packages incorporates ABB s connectivity package concept, which simplifies protection engineering and reduces the risk of errors. The connectivity packages, which are downloadable from ABB s web portal, make configurations and IED data readily available to the tool. The packages further contain a comprehensive description of the IED, including data signals, parameters, measurements, and IED documentation. Table 1. 4. Parameter setting The parameter setting tool of allows the user to view and set IED parameters locally or remotely. The settings can be uploaded from the IED to or downloaded from to the IED while the IED is in service. further offers a filtering function allowing the user to view all IED parameters or the parameters related to a specific function block. In addition, the user can choose to only view parameters that have been changed or parameters with values deviating from the IED s setting. Changed parameters with different values in the tool and in the IED are clearly indicated. The parameter setting function can be used in two different modes. The normal mode allows the IED protection engineer to quickly view and change the most commonly used parameters, whereas the advanced mode unveils all parameters that can be set. Fig. 1 Parameter setting tool view 4 ABB

5. Signal configuration The graphical signal matrix tool of is used for signal configuration. The signal matrix tool enables binary input and output signals to be connected to the standard configuration. The tool also connects the visual indication of the protection functions to the alarm LEDs on the IED s user interface. The standard configuration can be changed by adding or removing connections between functions. In addition to the standard functions of, the Engineering Pro variant offers means to connect the GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented System-Wide Events) signals between the IEDs. In a system based on IEC 61850, GOOSE messaging is used for time critical messages. Once the IEDs have been configured and parameterized, enables the configuration of the horizontal bay-to-bay communication for station-wide interlocking, and sending of the complete IED description to a system engineering tool. Fig. 2 Signal matrix tool view ABB 5

6. Signal monitoring The signal monitoring function provides the user with online information about the measured values and displays the status of binary input and output signals. Furthermore, facilitates commissioning and testing of physical connections by allowing the user to activate both analog and binary signals via the signal monitoring tool (forcing of signals). 7. Disturbance handling offers efficient handling and monitoring of disturbance records from the IEDs. The disturbance files, stored in the standard COMTRADE format, allow the user to view the disturbance record using the included Wavewin software or any commercially available disturbance analyzer supporting the COMTRADE format. If required, the report layout and contents can be adapted to userspecific needs. By means of the task scheduler of, the records can be set to be automatically transferred from the IED. The task scheduler is an independent process and does not require to be activated. After receiving the file, automatically creates a disturbance report, which can immediately be forwarded to subscribers by e-mail. Such a notification shortens the time from disturbance detection to corrective action. 8. Event viewer The event viewer of enables the user to view the IEDs sequence-of-events information including time stamps. The event log facilitates detailed pre- and post-fault analyses of faults and disturbances. 9. Communication configuration and management incorporates two communication tools: the communication management tool and the communication configuration tool. The communication management tool is available in both the standard tool and in the Engineering Pro variant, whereas the communication configuration tool is available only in the Engineering Pro variant. The communication management tool is used for configuring DNP3, IEC 60870-5-103 and Modbus communication. The Modbus configuration allows the user to view the bit address, the signal name and the signal description. When required, the signals can be disabled and enabled. The communication configuration tool, available in Engineering Pro, is used for configuring the IEC 61850 GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented System-Wide Events) communication between the IEDs. GOOSE communication is used for time critical messaging between the IEDs. 10. Project explorer Using the project explorer of the user is able to create a plant structure with substations, voltage levels, bays and IEDs. A new plant structure can also be created by use of IED templates. This enables the reuse 6 ABB

of existing IED configurations. IEDs, bays, voltage levels or a whole substation can be copied and pasted in the plant structure. Selection of a specific IED in the project explorer gives access to the IED s function blocks. The function of importing and exporting descriptions of IEC 61850 substation configurations, configured devices and device functionality allows information to be shared with other engineering and system integration tools. By using the filtering feature of the project explorer the user can choose to view only function block specific parameters in the parameter setting tool. selected tools. The IED documentation and guides available in the IED s connectivity package can be directly accessed from the IED s context menu. 13. Data transfer offers improved data transfer between the IEDs and the IED management tool. The IEDs can be accessed remotely using the TCP/IP protocol via a local area network (LAN) and standard Ethernet cables, a secured wide area network (WAN), a secured wireless network (WLAN) or, locally, using the IEDs front communication port. 11. User management supports access management both for the tool and the IEDs. The user accounts in can be linked to Windows user accounts or be defined as separate user accounts for. The user management feature allows the administrator to create user groups with different access rights and profiles. The access management for the IEDs can be enabled or disabled with the IED user management tool in. This tool is also used for setting and changing passwords for the IED s different user levels. 12. Integrated help menus All the necessary instructions for using the management tool are integrated in. Context sensitive help menus and tool tips provide the user with information about the ABB 7
