ULD Regulations 4th Edition (2016) ULD_Readme TABLE OF CONTENTS ----------------- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS INSTALLING THE PRODUCT LAUNCHING THE PRODUCT ACTIVATION UPDATES PROXY SUPPORT NOTES ON WINDOWS 8/10 INSTALLING VIEWER SOFTWARE IATA ONLINE SUPPORT NOTE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ------------------- - Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/10 (see "NOTES ON WINDOWS 8/10") - Intel Pentium or compatible processor - 16 bit colour display, 800 x 600 resolution (1024 x 768 or higher recommended) - CD-ROM drive (during software installation only, if product came on CD) - Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 installer is included on the CD (not compatible with Windows 8/10) Administrator permissions are required for installation - Internet connection (for activation and automatic updates) - PDF viewer application for opening some content If using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader software, version 7.0 or higher is required. PRODUCT INSTALLATION NOTES -------------------------- -- Note 1: Installing the software 1. The product CD-ROM autoplay menu is normally launched when the product CD-ROM is placed in a workstation's optical drive. 2. On the autoplay menu, choose "INSTALL" to begin the software installation setup process. a. If the Install button is disabled, it may be because the.net Framework 2.0 is not installed. b. To install the.net Framework 2.0, click the "Install Microsoft.NET 2.0" button. Administrator rights are required to install the.net Framework. c. If you do not have administrator rights, log into an account with such rights, install the.net Framework then log back into your account and install the application. 3. The software installer setup process will present a license agreement that must be agreed to in order to continue with the installation. 4. Enter user and company name information 5. Accept the default software installation folder or select an alternate folder. 6. Follow the remaining prompts to complete the installation. To launch the autoplay menu manually, in Windows Explorer navigate to the root directory of the product CD-ROM and launch file "autorun.exe". To begin the software installation setup process manually, in Windows Explorer navigate to the root directory of the product CD-ROM and launch file "setup.exe". Important for XP users: If installation from an account with limited privileges is Page 1

wanted, please install the.net 2.0 framework from an account with administrator privileges first. Accounts with limited privileges cannot install.net 2.0 framework. It is important to install the application from the account it is going to be used because updates (if enabled and available for the product) will be applied using the user account. If rights are not available to the user doing the update then the update may fail. For example if an IT department decides to install the IATA application using the administrator account, for all users, the users may be not be able to update the application since writing the updated files will be attempted in locations requiring administrator rights. -- Note 2: License usage This IATA software is designed and distributed as single user license only. The software may not be installed in a shared network or virtual environment, accessible by multiple users. The CD should not be copied and re-distributed. -- Note 3: Required Windows system components This IATA software requires the presence of these Windows system components: - Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 Although installation of the IATA application does not require administrator privileges, installation of the above components does. Some restrictions apply if installation is performed from an account with limited privileges, as described in the two following sections. Vista and Windows 7/8/10 When installation of one of the above pre-requisite is initiated from an account with limited privileges on Vista and Windows 7/8/10 systems, UAC will try to elevate privileges by prompting for an administrator account and password. Windows XP On Windows XP,.NET 2.0 cannot be installed from an account with limited privileges since XP does not support privilege elevation. Installation of the pre-requisite must be done from an administrator account. The installer will stop if.net 2.0 is not present and installation is attempted from an account with limited privileges. LAUNCHING THE PRODUCT --------------------- Once installed, launch the application via the desktop icon, the Windows 'Start' menu, or by selecting 'Run' from the ULD Regulations product CD autorun menu. ACTIVATION ---------- This IATA software must be activated before it can be used. The activation requires a working internet connection. After the software is installed, run the IATA application and follow the instructions on screen to activate. To activate you must have your product key in hand. The ULD Regulations product key is printed on the CD insert (for CD delivery) or provided in an email we sent you. Do not discard the CD case with your product key or take note of the product key and keep it safely in your records. It will be asked, along with purchase information, if support is needed. The activation process also asks for an email address. The email address will be necessary, in particular, to retrieve your product key in case it is lost and Page 2

validate ownership. The email address will only be used for matters regarding this IATA product. If neither the product key nor the email address can be provided and verified, support cannot be offered. Your product key can be used to activate the IATA application on a single computer. The product key is for your sole usage and should not be shared. Please read the EULA for details about the single user license terms and conditions. Firewall information The activation and subsequent validations are performed using the proxy settings of Internet Explorer. HTTP protocol is used. The executable "TurboActivate.exe" is used to perform the activation and may need to be added to the list of approved application. The following sites may be reached during activation and validation: - http://wyday.com - https://wyday.com The following ports are used: - 80 (http) - 443 (https) Virtual environment Activation will be denied on virtual environments. Virtual environments include, for example, Remote Services and RemoteApp, Citrix solutions based on Xen technologies, Hyper-V enabled computers, emulation software from VMWare, Oracle, etc. To activate on virtual environments, please contact IATA using the support email address cbpsupport@iata.org. Manual activation If automatic, online activation is not possible from the application, you can perform a manual activation. A manual activation is performed using a request/response process: 1) Generate then register an Activation Request with the activation system and 2) Generate then register an Activation Response with the application. The Activation Request is generated from the application's activation wizard. It is a simple text file that contains XML data understood by the activation system. Once generated, the Activation Request must be registered with the activation system. To do so, navigate your browser to "http://cargo-download.iata.org" and click the "Manual Activation" link. The activation Request file MUST be generated from the computer on which the application is going to be used but the files may be uploaded and downloaded from a different computer. Upload the Activation Request file and, upon successful validation, you will be prompted to download the Activation Response file. As with the request file, the Activation Response file is a simple text file containing XML data. Download the Activation Response file to your desktop, for example, and import that file back into the application's activation wizard to complete the process. As with the request file, the response file can be downloaded from another computer that has a working internet browser, then copied and imported on the computer where the IATA software is installed. If no internet is available, you will need to send the Activation Request file attached to an email addressed to cbpsupport@iata.org. The support team will send an Activation Response file to complete the process. Send the file from a computer that has a functionning email software. Deactivation If the application needs to be installed on a new computer, or the application needs to be provided to another user, the current installation must be deactivated with our server first. Internet access is required for easy online deactivation. If Page 3

internet is not available to the application or the computer hosting the IATA application, a manual deactivation will be required. Deactivation can be performed using the following methods: 1. By using the "Deactivate" option of the Tools menu of the application. Internet access is required. This performs a "soft" deactivation in the sense that the product key will be remembered for an eventual re-activation on the same computer. 2. By using the "Deactivate Online" button in the Activation tab on the Control Panel applet. The Control Panel applet can be found in Tools folder of the application's Windows Start menu. Internet access is required. This performs a "hard" deactivation in the sense that the product key is completely removed from the computer. 3. By doing a manual deactivation. Internet is not required on the computer hosting the application. Use the "Offline Deactivation" button in the Activation tab on the Control Panel applet. The Control Panel applet can be found in the Tools folder of the application's Windows Start menu. That option deactivates the application from the computer and generates a Deactivation Request file on your desktop. On a computer with internet access, navigate to "http://pubdownload.iata.org" and click the "Manual De-activation". Upload the Deactivation Request file to return the license to the server. If no internet is available at all, you will need to send the Deactivation Request file attached to an email addressed to cbpsupport@iata.org. The support team will complete the process on your behalf. Send the file from a computer that has a functionning email software. 4. By uninstalling the application. Internet access is required. The uninstall process will automatically try to deactivate the application. Reactivation on another computer You can activate this application on another computer as long as the current installation gets deactivated properly with the activation server. It is not necessary to uninstall the application. Failure to notify our server of the deactivation will result in a "product key is already in use" message when reactivating on another computer. UPDATES ------- This IATA software contains an updating mechanism. The update mechanism will be used to provide fixes if serious problems are found in the application or to provide updated data. There is no planned updates for this product. Updates can be checked and applied in the following ways: - Automatic online updates - Manual online updates - Offline updates The automatic update requires an internet connection to function properly. The automatic update is triggered every 30 days by default. The IATA application must be running for this to happen. The application automatic check for updates can be enabled or disabled using the "Auto-update" check box in the Updates tab on the Control Panel applet. The frequency of the check can be changed in that location as well. Note that disabling auto-update only disables updates from within the application (disables automatic check for udpates and removes the Check for update option under the Tools menu of the application). Updates can still be checked and applied using the Control Panel. The updates can also be manually checked online from the "Check for update" option of the application's Tools menu and using the "Check for update online" button in the Updates tab on the Control Panel applet. If you receive the error "The installed version of the application could not be Page 4

determined" during the update, it may be indicative that you are applying the update from a Windows account that does not have access to the original installation parameters. To fix that error, make sure you are applying the update using the same Windows account from which the software was originally installed. Firewall information The updates are performed using the proxy settings of Internet Explorer. HTTP and standard port 80 are used. The executable "wyupdate.exe" is used to perform the updates and may need to be added to the list of approved applications in security suites and firewalls. The following sites may be reached during an update: - www.iata.org - http://wyupdate.googlecode.com - http://wyday.com Managing updates The Control Panel applet Update tab can be used to manage online of offline updates. The Control Panel applet can be found in the Tools folder of the application's Windows Start menu. Offline update Updates can be applied offline if automatic, online updating does not work. The offline update process is started using the "Offline update..." button on the Updates tab of the Control Panel applet. That button starts the Offline Update wizard which will guide you through the update process. The principle behind offline update is to download an update package from pubdownload.iata.org from a computer with internet access. That package needs to be made available to the computer requiring updates. The offline update wizard will read the package and apply the update. PROXY SUPPORT ------------- This application can use network proxy information for activation and update communication. If you experience problems with online activation and online updates you may need to configure the application to use proxy parameters. Consult with your network authorities to validate if your network requires proxy to access the internet. The proxy parameters are coded in a file named "config.ini" that must reside in the application's installation folder. That file is a simple text file and does not exist by default. The file is typically managed through the Control Panel Applet available in the Tools folder of the application's Windows Start menu. The following parameters must be added to the config.ini file and filled in according to your network specifications: [proxy] username= password= host= port= domain= complete= Note 1: Only the "host" parameter is mandatory. If omitted the proxy parameters will NOT be used. Note 2: Use the "complete" parameter if the other parameters cannot be encoded to satisfaction. The "complete" parameter, if present and non-empty, takes precendence and is used "as is" by the activation process. The auto-update process **will not** use the "complete" parameter. The format is "http://username:password@host:port/". Note 3: The pre-activation wizard initiated when the application is first run can be Page 5

used to enter and store the proxy parameters. Note 4: If the proxy parameters are added manually, the application will automatically write the parameters back, encrypted, for security reasons. Credentials such as these are not allowed to remain in clear in the config file. The pre-activation wizard writes the parameters encrypted. Note 5: Read/write access to the installation folder is required for the activation process to write the config.ini file or for automatic encryption to happen. Note 6: The "Proxy Server" tab of the Control Panel applet located in the CCC's Tools folder under the Windows Start menu is also available to configure the proxy parameters. NOTES ON WINDOWS 8/10 ---------------------.NET Framework 2.0 is required to install and run this IATA application. Although.NET 2.0 is supported,.net 2.0 is not installed in Windows 8/10 standard installations. On Windows 8/10, the.net 2.0 Framework **must** be installed using the builtin Windows mechanism. The installer provided with the CD will not work under Windows 8/10. To manually install.net 2.0 on Windows 8 please do the following: - Log into an account with administrative privileges - Open the Control Panel: open the left sliding panel and click the Settings icon. Then click "Control Panel" - Select the "Programs" control panel - Select "Turn Windows features on or off" - Tick the item ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes.net 2.0 and 3.0)" - Click OK. Windows will install the.net framework. Please also note that this IATA application **will not work** on computers and tablets running Windows 8 RT. To manually install.net 2.0 on Windows 10 please do the following: - Log into an account with administrative privileges - Click the Start menu and open Settings->Systems->App & Features - Click "Manage optional Features" - Click "Add a feature" - You should see an option named ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes.net 2.0 and 3.0)" - Click that option then click the "Install" button.
