What You Will Need 1. Computer System Requirements Below are the computer configurations recommended by the PHS IT Department. Older software and operating systems are not supported and may not function for remote access: o Administrator Rights: To install applications such as Citrix receiver, administrator level user names and passwords are required. o o o o Windows Devices: Windows OS of XP w/sp3 or higher (Win7 / Win 8 / Vista) Mobile device with support for the Citrix Receiver application. NOTE: Instructions are included for the ipad in this document. Other mobile platforms may work as well but are not included in this document. DSL/Cable Connection for best performance. MAC computers are not supported by the PHS IT Department However, we have included set-up instructions for MAC Devices: Mac OS X 10.6 or Mac OS X 10.7, 32-bit or 64-bit. 2. Active Directory (AD) Account Remote access requires an AD account for login and authentication purposes. If you need an AD account please note the following: o You are required to submit a PHS IT Service Request. If you have any questions regarding this form, please contact PHS IT Service Desk at 505.923.6825. 3. Citrix Receiver - In order to access Citrix applications through ctx.phs.org, you will first need to ensure you have the Citrix Receiver application on any desktop, laptop or ipad you plan on using. To verify if you already have this application installed complete the following actions: o On a Windows client, click on your start button and type in Citrix Receiver in the search field. If you have this installed, you ll see Citrix Receiver appear under program files. o On a MacBook, click on your application folder, and you should see the Citrix Receiver application in this folder. o On your ipad, look through your apps and search for a Citrix Receiver app icon. 4. Any of the following browsers: o Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11) o Mozilla Firefox (version 9.0.1) o Google Chrome (version 17) NOTE: If you encounter a known issue in which Google Chrome does not open launch.ica files. Please refer to the Citrix knowledge base article at http://support.citrix.com/article/ctx136578. o Apple Safari (version 5.1.2) 2
Installing Citrix Receiver for Windows While our IT Department does not formally support personal Windows computers, we are providing the remote access instructions. To download the Citrix Receiver you will need the administrator name and password for your Windows computer. 1. Open up Internet Explorer and type in the following address: https://ctx.phs.org NOTE: Windows 8 users must launch Internet Explorer from the desktop, do NOT launch Internet Explorer from the Start screen. 2. Citrix Set-up. If you do not have the Citrix Web Client installed on your computer, you will be prompted to install it. Check the box to agree with the Citrix license agreement and press the Install button as shown below. 3. Older Citrix. If you have an older version of the Citrix Client installed, you will be prompted to upgrade. Please upgrade at this time. Do not upgrade later or you may experience issues accessing Citrix, Epic and other systems remotely. 4. When prompted, select Run the installer (might be prompted twice). NOTE: Administrator level user name and passwords will be required. 3
5. After the installation finishes, press OK to continue. 6. Citrix Log-in You should now be presented with a logon page. Enter the following information to login and press the Log On button when finished: User name: Your Windows user name Password: Your Windows password 4
7. Access Permissions You will then be presented with a screen of applications that you have access to. For example: Epic Production Hyperspace, etc. Not all users will have access to the same applications. 8. Click on the icon for the desired Epic environment. 5
Resolving Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) Issues 1. Microsoft recently released Internet Explorer 11 (IE11). Home personal computers that automatically receive updates may now be experiencing problems remotely accessing Epic. 2. Here are steps to navigate the Compatibility View Settings on personal computers. 1. Open Internet Explorer 11 and navigate to ctx.phs.org. The webpage will probably be a black background. 2. Click the gear-shaped icon to the far right and choose Compatibility View Settings. 3. In the Compatibility View Settings window, phs.org should appear in the Add this website field click Add and phs.org will populate in the Compatibility View window. Click Close and ctx.phs.org should display properly 6
Installing Citrix Receiver for MAC from PHS Site (Try First) While our IT Department does not formally support MAC computers, we are providing the remote access instructions. To download the Citrix Receiver you will need the administrator name and password for your MAC computer. 1. Ensure that you have the Citrix Receiver installed a) Open Safari (or whatever your preferred browser is) and go to https://ctx.phs.org b) If the receiver is not installed, you should get a popup window asking if you want to install it. Accept the install and click through any prompts. c) If the receiver is already installed, it should load a Citrix welcome page. 2. Once you have confirmed that you have Citrix Receiver installed, make sure you are using the correct process to access Hyperspace. a) Open your web browser and type in the address https://ctx.phs.org b) When you receive the Welcome prompt, type in your Presbyterian user ID and password. c) You should soon get a list of applications that have been published to you. d) Click on the Hyperspace icon for the environment you are trying to access. e) When you receive the Hyperspace login, you may use your credentials or training/testing credentials if you are accessing a non-production environment. 7
Installing Citrix Receiver for MAC from Citrix Site While our IT Department does not formally support MAC computers, we are providing the remote access instructions. To download the Citrix Receiver you will need the administrator name and password for your MAC computer. 1. Download the Citrix Receiver for MAC from Citrix at the address below. The receiver is free. This Citrix receiver is verified to work for MacBook and MacBookPro. http://receiver.citrix.com 2. Click on the black Download Button. You do not need to enter any log in information. 3. Click on the blue Download Now Button. 4. Double click on the Install Citrix Reciever.pkg icon on the left. a. A Java error may occur when you click install Citrix receiver if you have not updated the firmware or software on your MAC recently. To update Java for MAC click on the Apple in the upper left corner and select software updates. Proceed through the firmware and software update process then download the Citrix receiver. This is only necessary if you receive a JAVA plug in error. 8
5. Click on the blue Continue button. 6. Click on the Continue button. 7. Click on the Continue button. 9
8. Click on the Agree button. 9. Click on the Install button. 10
10. Initiate the Installer a. Name: Type the name of the system administrator for your MAC. b. Password: Type the administrator password for your MAC. c. Click the blue Install Software button. 11. When you see the installation was successful screen, click the blue Close button. 12. Open your browser and go to https://ctx.phs.org. 11
Installing Citrix Receiver on an ipad While our IT Department does not formally support personal ipads, we are providing the remote access instructions. To download the Citrix Receiver you will need the administrator password for your ipad. 1. Ensure that you have the Citrix Receiver installed a) Open up the App Store and search for Citrix Receiver. b) On the search results, tap on Citrix Receiver c) If the button says Installed, you are good to go. d) If the button says Install, go ahead and install it. It s a free app. 2. Once you have confirmed that you have Citrix Receiver installed, make sure you are using the correct process to access Hyperspace. a) Open up Safari on your ipad and type in the web address https://ctx.phs.org b) Log in to this site with your Presbyterian AD (what you use to get into Windows) credentials. c) Tap the Hyperspace icon you wish to access. d) It will pop up a message asking how you want to open the file whatever.ica. Choose Citrix Receiver e) You should have the normal Hyperspace login screen in a few moments. f) Enter whatever Hyperspace credentials you would like to use. You can use yours; or training credentials if you are accessing a Playground environment. NOTE: Do not launch Epic directly from within the Citrix receiver application. Please use your browser to access Epic by navigating to https://ctx.phs.org. 12
