Download ebooks from High Life Highland http://highlife.libraryebooks.co.uk 1. Log-in to the ebooks service with your barcode and PIN. Please contact the library to request a PIN number if you do not have one. 3. Browse the available titles by Genre or Latest ebook Arrivals, or search by keyword, Author, ISBN or Title using the integrated search facility. Select an ebook to download from the list of results. Available title will display a green tick. Unavailable titles shown with a red cross can be reserved. 2
Search results can be further refined using the headings on the left hand side. 4. Select an ebook title to download and click Add to Basket. 5. Select the number of days you wish to borrow the ebook for and click Checkout button at the bottom of the screen. 3
6. Click on the Manage Loans / Reservations link to view your downloads 7. Select Download once the item has completed processing. You may need to refresh the webpage page to speed up this process. 4
Installing Adobe Digital Editions 8. You will be asked to install Adobe Digital Editions to your PC the first time you download an ebook. Click Install and Read to install Adobe Digital Editions and create an Adobe ID. 5
9. Create an Adobe ID and authorize your computer with the device 10. Go back to High Life Highland ebooks page and select Download Item. You will be prompted to open or save the file. Click Open (This may be located at the bottom of the browser screen). 6
Using Adobe Digital Editions to Transfer 11. The item will download to Adobe Digital Editions bookshelf. The ebook can be read on the PC by straight away. Click Library to view your bookshelf. Transfer ebook to reader device 12. Connect device to PC and the device name will appear in Devices. 7
The number of days left will be shown in a tab in the top right corner of the book. Once the loan expires, the book will appear blank and display Expired on the bookshelf. Please note: you may be required to use the default software supplied with your individual ebook reader device rather than Adobe Digital Editions. e.g. Sony ebook readers will use the Sony Reader software which also compatible with Adobe ID. Download to Apple Mobile Devices Using a PC 1. Install the Bluefire Reader app to download ebooks to your mobile device such as an Apple ipad. You will be asked to create an Adobe ID when you first download Blue fire to your device. 2. To download, follow the download steps 1 to 8 and open the file with Adobe Digital Editions. 3. Connect ipad and open itunes, select Apple device and select Apps. 4. Scroll down to the File Sharing options and select Bluefire Reader from the list of Apps 5. Click Add and choose the epub title from My Documents / My Digital Editions folder on your PC 6. Click Sync to sync the device with itunes 7. On ipad open Bluefire Reader and enter your Adobe ID to authenticate the new content. 8
Download to Mobile Devices Using Wi-Fi Google Android Bluefire Reader App 1. Download and install the Bluefire Reader app for Android using the device s browser or search for Bluefire in the Play App Store Click here for guidelines on installing Bluefire for Amazon Kindle Fire. 2: 'Tap' to download and login to Blufire with your Adobe ID. You can also create a new Adobe ID. 3. Browse to http://highlife.libraryebooks.co.uk on your Android device, checkout and download a selected title. 4. The device will automatically detect the Aldiko or Bluefire app. Select Download to Android and choose Bluefire to open the file. 9
5. After a delay, 'Download Successful' will display. 6. Book shelf will display the downloaded ebook, choose Read Now. Aldiko Reader App 1. Download and install the Aldiko ebook Reader app, authorise with or create an Adobe ID. Click here for guidelines on installing Aldiko for Amazon Kindle Fire. 2. Select Store from the Aldiko home screen and then bring up the settings menu on your device and choose My catalogs 3. Click + to add High Life Highland ebook service URL http://highlife.libraryebooks.co.uk and OK to save. 10
4. You can then browse and download titles directly from your mobile device by using this link. Apple ios using Wi-Fi 1. Install the Blue Fire Reader app for Apple Mac on your device using Safari or search for Bluefire on the App store. 2. 'Tap' to download and login to Bluefire with your Adobe ID. You can also create a new Adobe ID. 3. BlueFire will launch. Browse http://highlife.libraryebooks.co.uk on Safari, and download the selected ebook title to Apple device 4. After a delay, 'Download Successful' will display. 5. Book shelf will display the downloaded ebook, choose Read Now 11
